About Jill
Jill holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and has master's work in choral music and Orff-Schulwerk. For many years Jill has taught private and group music lessons to all ages with many varying styles of singing and instrumental music. Her lessons are unlike the ones she remembers from childhood; Jill's lessons are full of creativity, fun and excitement. It is amazing how students improve with each lesson. Jill brings more than just technique to the studio, she strives to find the best in each student and then concentrates on improving each individual's strengths and then delves into ways to correct the weaknesses.

Since Jill is a vocal soloist, instrumentalist, accompanist and music director, she knows what it takes to prepare and rehearse and therefore she makes it clear which concept the student will be working on during
the lesson. With an instrumental and choral background, Jill brings music to life and then shares with the students how to keep music in their lives forever. Many students who had vocal problems have achieved vocal success after taking several lessons with Jill and learning to keep their voices healthy for the rest of their lives.

Jill has worked with children, teens and adults in many schools, churches and after school programs that she designed. Her success with students who are very young or students who come with disabilities or autistic spectrum diagnosis are moved by the music Jill creates. With the help of the ORFF-SCHULWERK certification, Jill has many ways of reaching children through the use of instruments, rhythm activities, games and other fun ways of learning. Breaking barriers is Jill's best asset, she will not quit until the student has an understanding of the instrument or his/her voice.

The young and the older adults find that taking lessons with Jill has brought them to a place of realizing their potential. Successful stories include pre-school age through students who are retired. The length of time one studies depends on the student's practice and diligence. Many students have started with Jill in preschool or elementary school and have continued through high school and college. Several college age students wanted to improve their singing or instrumental skills so goals were set and met through Jill's successful teaching ability. Several students learn music theory and many students have learned song-writing and creating arrangements.

Many of Jill's students have become better musicians and a considerable number of students have chosen music professions for their careers. Multiple students have won contests, auditioned for parts in musicals, started local bands and have become songwriters and performers after taking lessons with Jill. Students have been successful in auditions, both locally and nationally. For instance, one student auditioned for American Idol and made it through several steps to the finals.

Teaching a myriad of students from various places in the world who have come to the United States has been a great experience. The cultural differences makes the teaching of these students exciting since Jill learns about music in their own home countries. Some of the students are from China, Germany, Norway, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Colombia, Puerto Rico and many who moved to Florida from some other state in the U.S.A. What a joy it has been to learn to communicate with these students and to verify that music is a universal language. By special request Jill is available for online lessons through internet and devices as well as traveling to student locations when her schedule allows. Students interested in online or in-home lessons should send a message to her to request certain days and times of availability.

Jill held the title "Steinway Pianos Concert and Artist Director" in Dallas TX in the 80's, working with Steinway artists and Dallas Symphony, Opera, Ballet and other events like planning pianos for Prince Charles' visit and many other concerts and events. Jill also performed in many Dallas venues as well as providing pianos for the Cowboys, the clubs, hotels, country clubs and museums including The Dallas Museum of Art.

Jill moved to Florida to play with an all original Blues Band in 1992 and has been performing, directing and teaching since that time.

*** Lesson Details ***
Jill's teaching technique is flexible. Some students require a stern and strict approach while others seem to work best with more creative license. Jill is open to each student's needs. When booking lessons with Jill, one will find that the first thing she will do is find out more about the student's needs and desires to succeed in their chosen instrument. Meeting goals are important in music and in life!

Because of her flexible approach, method books vary depending on the student's need to succeed. Sometimes young students will need to review several beginning methods until their reading skills are achieved. For the young students, Jill teaches theory and gives the young students time during the lesson to explore musical symbols and try their hands at improvisation, rhythms, manuscripts and creativity. The student is responsible for the cost of materials used in class.

Some students may desire to learn to play "by ear" or through improvisational skills. Jill is very good with improv and her song writing skills are strong. When a student desires to write music, Jill is there to help with questions about time signatures, note values, key signatures and transpositions. Many students have copyrighted their material and are successful songwriters!

Taking lessons with Jill is a journey that those who have tried have not had regrets. Several parents and past students would be happy to tell you how their talents and gifts improved after working with Jill for a few months. After three months of working together, Jill will know how to pursue the student's musical career. After 6 months the student will be able to play complete songs and have a sense of basic music theory. The hope is for the student to be confident of their instrument's abilities and to have a list of repertoire for upcoming events in the student's life.

Several of Jill's students have taken their skills, gifts and talents to the professional level. Students who have studied with Jill are professional music directors in high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, churches, soloists and some who are in school studying music as their major. My specialty in voice comes from years of lessons and performance experience. Including solo gigs, bands and service performances such as parties, weddings, funerals, organizational roles, skills, clubs, recordings, hotels, country clubs, churches, schools and much more. She uses many methods, handouts and books to bring out various ideas to learn to sing correctly. Jill takes each individual at his/her level and tries to improve breathing technique, posture, enunciation with style and phrasing, depending on the student's aspirations.

Jill has been a great teacher - she has been very willing to adapt to my needs as far as scheduling lessons too. She is patient and takes great efforts to adapt the teaching technique to my limitations (time constraints for practicing and a bad shoulder that requires adjustments in holding the violin and playing.)
I am an adult student - actually, a grandmother, but I have watched her instruct children and thought she had a great rapport with them and an encouraging manner while still instructing and correcting.

Hello!

My name is Ray, I'm 30 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.

I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for 16+ years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it being a very important part of the rest of my life.

I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy, and am building a career as a pop music producer.

*** Lesson Details ***
My music lessons
are unique for three main reasons:

1. I have a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.

2. I have devoted considerable amounts of time and energy studying neuroscience, which has greatly improved my understanding of the learning process.

3. I have been blessed with the tremendous amount of patience necessary to guide a student through the necessary steps it takes to learn at whatever pace is optimal, in order to maximize the efficiency of the learning process for each individual.

*** Equipment ***
Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.

*** Specialties ***
Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to study and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy learning their favorite songs from the radio.

My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.

My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. Michael is patient and kind but firm in his direction and has instilled confidence in my son that he can play whatever songs he wants to play with focus and practice. Miss Bonner is a very patient and fun teacher, whose methods have boosted me from a beginner to playing college standard pieces by Mozart. She is great at playing clarinet. Classical, Jazzy; any genre you choose and Miss Bonner can teach you well. At the end of the school year, I won an award for being the best member in our school band. I could never have done it without Miss Bonner.

Ms. Bonner has been such an inspirational teacher over all the years she has taught me. She has helped me improve my clarinet techniques by pushing me to join various bands and best of all, introduced me to Jazz. Leslie is a Denver based musician—clarinetist and teacher—who performs in solo and collaborative projects across the state while maintaining an active teaching studio. Leslie is in high demand as both a performer and teacher. Recent performances include solo performances is Denver and Stapleton, several chamber performances with her wind trio Enigma and the Lamont Clarinet Choir, and appearances with the Lone Tree Symphony, the San Juan Symphony, Lakewood Symphony, the Denver Pops Orchestra, the Littleton Symphony, the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, and extensive time playing Eb clarinet with the Lamont Wind Ensemble.

Artem Kemenyash is a musician who is dedicated to the craft of musicianship. He holds Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Portland State Universtiy and currently working toward his Master’s
Degree in Music Performance at New York University. Artem performs and teaches the clarinet, the piano, and the saxophone around New York area.

Biography:

Artem was born in Odessa and at age of 5, he started his musical journey learning the piano. He was learning fast, and at the age of 6, he was accepted to the school for gifted kids – The Odessa Stolyarsky Special Music School. At the age of 9 he started to learn the clarinet, and at the age of 10, he won his first international music competition.

In 2006 Artem won the 2nd place at the Sribniy Dzvin International Music Competition, where he was selected to participate in the concert tour around Germany in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 Artem was accepted to the prestigious school for gifted kids The Kiev Lysenko Special Music School in Kiev. During his school years, he got more than 12 awards at the international competitions.

In 2013 Artem has moved to the United States of America where he has continued his music education at Portland State University. 2013-2018 he actively participates in different professional ensembles, performing concerts around the West Coast. He performed few ballet and opera productions as a principal clarinetist with Portland State University and was appointed 2nd clarinetist at Portland Choir and Orchestra.

In 2018 Artem moved to New York where he is teaching, performing the music and works toward his Master’s Degree at New York University.

Since 2013 Artem was teaching privately the clarinet, the saxophone and the piano in Portland metro area. He teaches privately more than 5 years and his current studio has 20 students. Their ages vary from 6-35 years old. His student always get first seats in school bands, won competitions and participate in youth orchestras.

In 2017 Artem became a band director at the Russian Gospel Church in Hubbard, Oregon. He was asked to create a wind orchestra at this church. The task was not easy – most of the participants were middle schoolers and amateurs. However, Artem worked hard and was able to create and conduct wind band that included 25 people. He administrated the band, arranged the music parts and taught music theory and history besides conducting the band.

My two kids, ages 11& 9 have been taking piano lessons from Artyom for about a year and they have improved so much. My favorite part about him is that he gives honest feedbacks. My kids says he tells exactly what they need to work on! He is very passionate about helping my kids learn and appreciate music so we feel lucky he is our teacher!!

Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students in the Orange County area!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

About Carter
I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is miss instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments.

My goal as a music educator is not only to teach the mechanics of an instrument, but to also inspire a life-long passion for music. Therefore I make a point to encourage students to explore all the music there is to be had in their surrounding environment! This includes attending concerts, listening to great recordings and savoring all the music that our modern-day media has to offer!

With this consistent musical exploration I teach a thorough curriculum of scales, exercises, duets and standard solo repertoire pieces. Surrounding all this is a foundation in music theory. This pedagogi
cal study will enable a fun and easy experience when students pick up their instruments to perform music!

In addition to this private study I strongly encourage my students to pursue extra-curricular musical activities outside their school music programs. This includes auditioning for honor bands/orchestras, chamber music, music competitions and effective musical examinations such as Certificate of Merit. I believe a constant setting and achieving of goals is the foundation of growth in anything we do and music is no exception.

I am proud to say that the majority of my students develop great interest in classical music, fueling them to push past their difficulties and achieve a high standard of musical performance!

Before beginning lessons with Carter, playing clarinet was something that I dreaded to do to say the least. Once I started lessons I experienced exponential growth in my playing abilities and began to enjoy the instrument. Fast forward 6 years, because of the help of Carter, I have the opportunity to perform in prestigious youth groups, and have experiences that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Because of my lessons I have developed a love for playing clarinet and music that I wouldn't have had without Carter. -Matthew 6 years

Saxophone lessons with me are unique because I had a very prestigious saxophone lessons teacher when I was in high school, and he taught in some bizarre and amazing ways. Sometimes lessons would be 8-10 hours long, involving singing, switching to flute or piano, and sometimes just blowing air through the instrument intentionally without sound. I think these lessons are what allowed me to become first saxophone in marching band and the Boston College Wind Ensemble, as well as win a competition as lead in a saxophone quartet. Other achievements included making the district band 3 years in a row in Massachusetts CDMMEA, and winning a gold medal in jazz ensemble 3 years in a row as lead tenor saxophone. My diversity plays a role in my success as well, as I have played bari, tenor, alto, and soprano, each for multiple years. I have played saxophone for 14 years and so far have only taught college age intermediate level students but would like to start teaching saxophone more permanently ...

"It's not about learning, it's about understanding."

Hi! My name is Emily and I am 23 years old. I am originally from Massachusetts, where I earned my degree in physics at Boston College before moving to central Florida in August 2017. I took off with just what I could fit in my car and drove from Massachusetts to Orlando to try a new life on my own. Tutoring was an accidental passion that definitely saved me. I was messaged around midnight by a worried mother telling me her son received a 0 on his last chemistry exam, and that the teacher gave him a day to take it home to retake for partial credit. At this time I had been applying and applying to jobs with no luck so I jumped on the opportunity and messaged her back right away. The next night I was at their house for hours helping their son understand the material and retake the exam. H
e received the full partial credit on the test. After 1 more session with him the folllowing week, he had another exam. He received a 100%! His mother was in shock and at that moment I realized I had something special. I loved the nights we spent fighting through material just as much as I loved the nights where everything just clicked for him. Since then, I have tutored over 30 students in subjects including (not limited to) middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, college algebra, pre-calculus, liberal arts math, arithmetic, college calculus 2, biology, AP chemistry, AP physics, college physics, and test prep including SAT, GED, GRE, GKT, and ASVAB. I attribute my success to not focusing on memorization because problems memorized are problems forgotten! Instead, I teach the students how to teach themselves how to start a problem because even complex problems are just series of simple steps disguised by complicated word problems and extraneous information. It's not about learning, it's about understanding. So far I have been blessed with students who will openly tell me "I do not understand" which is an awesome thing to say! It gives me a great place to start: from the beginning. (It's okay if you don't say you don't understand...I will still know ;) ) Often students will just say they do not know how to start a problem, but this hides a deeper dependence on memorization and lack of conceptual understanding. The only way to teach true understanding is to let go of the conventional concept of memorization. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and I hope to hear from you soon!
