I base the lessons on what my students want to learn and are interested in. I let my students chose the songs they want to play from the books that I suggest they purchase. I want my students to have fun while learning to play the clarinet and learning to reading music.

My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands. It all one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!

I am an experienced Clarinet teacher of 5 years available for eager students! Whether you are picking up Clarinet for the very first time or you are at a more advanced level of playing, I structure my lessons so that you learn what you want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of technical ability and excellent musicianship. I specialize in teaching concert band style music, however I can teach jazz styles as well. For beginning students I typically use Measures of Success Book #1. For more advanced students I recommend Standard of Excellence book #2 and book #3.

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

I have experience in teaching every level of student from beginning to advanced. I am a big believer in teaching the fundamentals. I spend much time working on tone and technique with my students as this leads to much success when it comes to specializing in both classical and jazz playing. I give students much freedom as to what they want to work on as this allows students to be excited about taking lessons. After all, music is supposed to be fun!

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I have been taking lessons with Tony since 2009 and I have seen nothing but improvement in the way I play. I saw my biggest improvements when I would audition for the regional band. My score increased each year. I went from 560 my first year to 915 out of 1000 my last. You will not be disappointing when you will take lessons with him. You will continue to grow if you follow his lessons."
