Lessons for all ages and levels focus on tone production through body awareness, technical fundamentals of flute playing, and music from the standard flute repertoire. Beginners through college prep and adult amateurs are welcome.

I started learning flute in 2006 and went on to receive my Bachelors in Flute at Boston University, and Masters in Piccolo at Peabody Conservatory. I freelance regularly with orchestras around the US, and teach students of all ages and levels.

My major instrument in college was clarinet, but I am a woodwind specialist, having performance experience on flute, clarinet, and saxophone. I have a particular affinity for late beginners, and have had some success in helping these students catch up to their peers. All of my woodwind students use the Rubank method books in addition to any method books they may already be using in their band classes. I also introduce appropriate literature and studies specific to each instrument once the basics have been mastered. I encourage all of my woodwind students to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest and to audition for OMEA District and State Honor Bands.

Students can expect to grow as a well-rounded musician. I will teach the students about the basic fundamentals to the advanced methods of effective practices. As a professional musician, I will focus my time and energy on making sure students understand how much practicing can will improve playing. Students will have a weekly progress book. Get ready for great lessons!

Flute:
A musical instrument in the woodwind group. Unlike woodwind instruments with reeds, a flute is an aerophone or reedless wind instrument that produces its sound from the flow of air across an opening. Starting with the basics we would first learn breathing and fingering techniques, notes, reading, rhythms, and songs. As the student progresses scales, theory and soloing will be taught.
