I work to tailor my instruction to each student’s needs, interests, and learning style. Every student is different, and every student wants something different out of their lessons. There are some things that I work on with every student: tone, intonation, vibrato, technique, repertoire, etc., but I also gauge what a student wants to learn about the saxophone and music making and make it my goal to help them reach their musical goals, whatever they may be. I strive to make sure that my students are set up for success in all of their musical endeavors.

About Joseph

I am a saxophonist and educator in Nacogdoches, TX, and I am currently pursuing a Performing Artist Certificate in Saxophone Performance at Stephen F. Austin State University. Before I moved to TX, I lived most of my life in GA; I earned my Bachelors degree in Music Education at the University of Ge

Joseph Lyons is an excellent instructor who is very to the point in his teaching but he definitely ensures that you will improve. I've taken lessons from him for many years on both saxophone and mellophone and he has helped me develop and improve in my music journey immensely! I would highly recommend lessons from him to anyone as myself and other students of his that I know have improved lots from his teachings.

I am an experienced teacher of 4 years, specializing in teaching upper beginner's to first-year college students. I am a performing musician who has been playing the saxophone for over ten years now. I believe each lesson should be tailored to the students wants, and to their current ability level. I will be able to teach students the songs they want to learn, while also teaching them the fundamentals needed to perform music. As a musician who has gone to college for music I also know what is needed for auditions, and what should be prepared for a lifetime of playing music.
I am well versed in many different styles of music including: jazz, pop/rock, classical music, and others. I have a passion for improvising and composing, and as a hobby I compose music and I have a home studio where I practice recording and producing music.

About Nick

I am a professional Saxophonist and Guitarist with a Bachelors degree in Commercial Music with an emphasis in performance. Being a saxophone player I also have experience doubling on Flute and Clarinet. I have played numerous events ranging from corporate events, to weddings, to playing original mus

I will find new repertoire for you to play, teach you basics like fingerings all the way up to advanced techniques like altissimo. If you do not know how to read music, that is okay too! I will teach that as well. I will prepare you for any high school and college auditions, and make suggestions on how to improve your musicianship.

About Joshua

Josh is a fantastic clarinet instructor. He’s enthusiastic, patient, and finds the right balance of fun and challenging exercises. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the online lessons have gone.

If you've ever had to tell a coworker how to do something on a computer that you do 100 times a day without thinking, you know how hard it is to verbalize the things you do with muscle memory. Joshua is a whiz at finding exactly the right way to explain how to adjust my mechanics to make progress on my instrument. I played flute in HS over 30 years ago and was a little nervous about starting over at my age but Joshua is completely supportive and positive and fun. I also happen to be a science teacher and I've loved being a student again because it's helping me relate to my students and to think about feedback - so it's like my flute lessons are coming with bonus lessons on how to teach. I've learned a lot from Joshua in just a couple of months.

I teach Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Sax in any style from Classical to Jazz and everything in between. Out of the many instruments I play, saxophone is my dominant instrument. I have my degree on alto but have always played the baritone sax more. I welcome students from beginner to advanced, classical to jazz, sight reading to ear training.

About Mary

I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Music from UW-Milwaukee in 2006. I continued to study privately on Saxophone with Curt Hanrahan and on Accordion with

When asked “why do I teach music,” the answer stems from two main reasons: (1) I want to prompt a lifelong love for music in the lives of students, and (2) I am self-motivated to learn more from the vastness of musical experiences. Music has the ability to reach a wide variety of people from different cultures, ideologies, religion, and nationalities. It is a uniquely human experience that can’t be limited to a single person or group and, personally, there is nothing that comes close to the extent of music’s reach. It is an essential part of humanity.

As for instruments, I offer lessons in Alto Saxophone only.

About Nicholas

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I began my musical endeavors in the fifth grade with the clarinet, not really knowing where it would take me. Throughout middle and high school I studied under Juan Carlos Ledón and director Marlene Urbay at Belen Jesuit Preparatory. From there I applied, and was

"Kareem is a dedicated and diligent musician and teacher. He is able to share his love of music with students of all ages. Not only is he extremely capable of teaching students the technical aspects of music, but his lessons incorporate a wider perspective as well, such as, listening to different genres of music and asking his students to discuss what they hear. He is always positive and encourages students to do their best. He has style and class and it is a privilege that two of my children can study under his tutelage."
