In my 17 years playing the saxophone, I've performed in all sorts of places and styles - orchestras, jazz bands, chamber groups, rock concerts, musical pits, you name it! I've taught beginners, college students, and even retirees.
I've studied classical and jazz music at Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, and Baldwin Wallace Universities with James Houlik, Mike Tomaro, and others. I have studied composition, music theory, and music history, too. After all, there's more to learning an instrument than just knowing which fingers to press down!
I can help you improve your skills and style whether you're just starting out on the sax or fine-tuning your college auditions!

I have been teaching saxophone professionally for 10 years to beginners just starting out, students preparing for college auditions, and adults trying to get back into playing. I am a very passionate musician and person, and find happiness in helping people get better at the saxophone and playing music! I enjoy performing regularly in the Los Angeles and greater Los Angeles areas at venues such as The Hollywood Bowl, and The Blue Whale Jazz Club. If you are looking to make your first sounds on the instrument, or looking to develop the skills to be a masterful performer and improviser, please reach out to me as I would find great joy in helping you accomplish your goals.
About Jordan
On top of being a professional musician and educator, I am a fun, easy-going, and inspirational person. I come from a family of 6 and used to work as a camp counselor in the summers, so working with kids is my strong suit, I really do enjoy it! I have found in my years of teaching a nice balance of

I have been teaching saxophone for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S... The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap. Unfortunately, the neck strap is often the most overlooked aspect of playing the instrument. One of the first things that I stress to a new student is the importance of the neck str …
