I don’t sit in on the lessons, but this is the first lesson my 13 yr old takes initiative to be ready for. No chasing him to be ready. He even voluntarily re joined the band at school. All good signs to me. We had a couple of hiccups and Andrew was very accommodating to assist with rescheduling. BEST thing busy mom doesn’t have to leave home!

As I have taught many students on many different instruments, my focus has been on providing students with a firm foundation, including proper posture, breathing, embouchure, technique, and pitch/rhythm literacy. Students will not continue studying, practicing, and performing if they don't enjoy the lesson experience and relationship with their teacher. Learning happens most meaningfully and rapidly (not to mention is sustained) when students connect with their teacher, and that most easily occurs when teachers are in tune with their students' interests and goals. As a former music student who sometimes had very little input in what I learned on certain instruments, I remember the boredom and sometimes dread on the lesson day! Asking my students questions, listening to their answers and interests, as well as providing positive and constructive feedback nurtures the students' love of music and their instrument.

About Daniel

Greetings! I started playing the saxophone at the age of seven. Having an incredible middle school band teacher, I was drawn to teaching at an early age. In 2001, I completed my student teaching at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in I K-12 Instrum

Eric B. was the music instructor for both my children at the middle and high school they attended. Additionally, I taught with Eric for seven years.

My children received excellent music instruction in both trombone and flute. I was pleased with the rigor of the practice that was expected from Eric, which enabled dramatic growth in their musical ability. I was also pleased that they were both able to read music due to the instruction they were given under Eric's tutelage.

As I said earlier, I have worked with Eric as a colleague. I found him to be highly organized, student centered with regard to growth and performance, and a man of high character.

Eric created a Jazz band curriculum at the school corporation we taught at, where he developed several Jazz sections that would perform regularly in the community. Eric would invite notable guest musicians to work with the students and participate with them in these performances.

I would recommend Eric, without reservations, to anyone who desires a quality music instructor.
Phil
Eric was great. Hadn't played in a while and he really helped me get back into it and rekindled my love of music.

I've been teaching saxophone for about 6 years on and off. I will work with students to develop a good tone, technique-through scales and etudes, and rhythmic internalization by incorporating drum tracks and metronome throughout the lesson. My philosophy is make music fun but also make it so my students have fun putting the work in to get to be a better musician. My style varies from student to student depending on their specific needs but I will always bring energy and fun to all my lessons.

About Sarah

Hi, I'm a 25 year old saxophonist attending UMSL. I went to Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. I specialize in fundamentals, like technique, building a solid sound, and music theory. I also specialize in higher level playing such as jazz and improvising. I've been teaching lessons sinc

Sarah is very easy to work with, always interested in helping you the student have fun with the sax, as she has. Despite her great experience and background (or because of it?) she never seemed bored or working beneath herself with a beginner. I could say more, but I better take this time to practice!

I have experience in teaching every level of student from beginning to advanced. I am a big believer in teaching the fundamentals. I spend much time working on tone and technique with my students as this leads to much success when it comes to specializing in both classical and jazz playing. I give students much freedom as to what they want to work on as this allows students to be excited about taking lessons. After all, music is supposed to be fun!

"I just had a lesson with Sergio, and he seems like a good instructor. I learned some helpful things (I'm a complete beginner and was having trouble even just making a consistent sound with the saxophone). For instance, I learned how far the mouthpiece should be on the cork, and I learned an interesting breathing exercise for saxophone. I also learned the C Major Scale. My only trouble with the lesson was that my internet isn't very good, so the video (and sometimes the audio) cut in and out at times. But as for Sergio himself, I would recommend him for learning the saxophone. He seems like he knows what he's doing, and he is kind in his instruction."

"Well worth the time and money

Dave was able to meet me where I was and move me toward the goals I had. As as an adult learner, I went in with zero experience with the saxophone but a clear picture of what I wanted to play and somewhat how I wanted to sound. Dave has a great set-up where we have privacy to make noise (sax's aren't known for being quiet). He's able to pluck things out on the piano quickly or to pull something up on the computer or just play. I went from starting out, to wanting to play a few songs, to improvising. Dave has been very helpful and ultimately keeps me improving and moving forward. I've taken other lessons on other instruments, but I will say this is one of the better teachers I have had. He listens well and is able to articulate what he wants you to do --- not trying to be a guru, but more of a guide that keeps you on track."
