Aaron has really inspired my son to pick up the Sax again after a six month hiatus. Aaron pushes him musically and challenges him daily on scale work, music theory and song performance. I could not be happier.

I have been taking soprano saxophone lessons with Aaron for about 8.5 months now. Aaron is enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable. His serious training shines through and he encourages your development along the lines that the student desires. Your musical goals become his for you. I am fortunate to have him as my teacher.

I have been teaching saxophone for 2 years and specialize in beginner to intermediate training. I am a commercial funk Saxophonist that plays in an actual e funk group called Joe Keyes and The Late Bloomer Band. I graduated from Towson University with a degree in jazz/comercial performance on the saxophone, and am currently enrolled in Howard University's jazz studies program. I believe that each student learns differently and different approaches should be explored when learning an new instrument. I make it a priority to learn my students musical interests and goals so that I may help them achieve success in their music journey. I like to make things informative and interesting and I hope to develop and cultivate my students creativity as well.

The saxophone can be one of the funnest instruments to play, no questions asked! In order to reach that point it's important to have certain things in order such as: sound production, breath support, musicality, and technique. In lessons use a variety of exercises and method/etude books, playing duets together, as well as listening and ear training to give my students a well rounded approach to the saxophone and music helping them to become the best musician they can be.

Bill is multi-instrumentalist, jazz musician, composer, arranger and educator. He developed a strong connection to music early in life through some family tradition, encouraging parents and many inspiring and influential teachers. I started with Bill almost two years ago and I was at about zero on the piano. He's helped me reach the point where I can play some standards and even improvise a little over them, and I look forward to improving even more. We began in person but the transition to remote lessons has been seamless.

Bill is patient, attentive, and a whole lot of fun to work with. He has a positive attitude and a great sense of humor, and he backs it up with strong motivational skills to keep you practicing and putting in the work to reach your goals.

Oh, and of course, he's got some incredible chops! He's a talented multi-instrumentalist and a beast on the saxophone. His love of music and knowledge of jazz is sure to rub off on you.

Started my saxophone journey with Bill with a zero experience in music, except for few songs on the guitar. Then the pandemic (corona) hit and we were forced to move to online sessions. I must say, the virtual teaching has not stopped Bill from delivering EXCEPTIONAL and THOROUGH sessions. I have seen significant improvements in my playing skills since we started, exceeding any of my expectations. Especially if you are concerned about online saxophone sessions, I have personally encountered no issues whatsoever and I actually look forward to our weekly zoom calls. Overall, Bill's expertise is matched by his kindness and patience and I am sure you will agree with me.
Athan M.
I very highly recommend Bill! A few months ago I could struggle through a few scales but with Bill's teaching I'm now playing funk songs live in front of 50 people with a friend's band. Bill's lessons are not only useful, but also fun and energetic. I've had a number of saxophone teachers in the past and Bill is by far the best.

I teach Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Sax in any style from Classical to Jazz and everything in between. Out of the many instruments I play, saxophone is my dominant instrument. I have my degree on alto but have always played the baritone sax more. I welcome students from beginner to advanced, classical to jazz, sight reading to ear training.

About Mary

I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. No matter which instrument I play the passion is the same. I like to write and arrange as well so I feel an extreme importance on music theory. I am clas

Mary was a fun and patient piano lesson teacher. I have never taken any music lessons before so we started with the basics but she did a good job of finding the pace that I learned at. She taught slow enough for me to catch on, but not too slow to where I felt like my 30 min lessons were a waste of time/money.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the rest of my lessons with Mary because I was becoming too busy with work to stay committed to my lessons and practice. If I ever take lessons again I'll definitely sign up with Mary again, zero complaints.
Madison A.
Mary was amazing teacher for me, and she really sparked my passion for music. I had really just started clarinet when I began taking lessons from her, and I truly believe one of the reasons I am going into music is because of how she made me see it. In the short time that I was able to be her student I learned more than just the fundamentals, and have yet to find a teacher that I work with as well as I did with her. If I could take up lessons with her again, I would in a heartbeat.

I have been teaching saxophone for 10 years. I enjoy teaching people of all ages, both children and adults, of all levels. I believe in teaching a strong core of music fundamentals but also in finding what makes music special to each student. Lessons should be fun and engaging. I have several students audition into regional bands, and select school ensembles every year. But we also make sure to play some pop tunes and top 40.

I highly recommend Kendra as a woodwinds teacher! I'm back playing tenor sax after 40 years off, and wanted to get my technique back, and learn to express my musical ideas. Now I'm playing better than my high school days, and newly doing jazz solos.
Kendra is wonderfully, broadly trained, and very effective at working with me on everything from embouchure and fingerings to maximizing effectiveness of practice. She is ALWAYS upbeat, supportive, friendly, PATIENT, and helpful - and I've always looked forward to our lessons. She is very good at figuring out how to be helpful, and how to keep the joy in music even while working on technique, and at my request, music theory. I could not have enjoyed the experience more, or been more successful, than with Kendra.

"My son greatly enjoys playing the saxophone, and in particular he likes jazz. This is in a large part due to the lessons with Joey. He has learned a lot from Joey, and is now one of the better saxophone players at his age group, including making all-state Jazz band last year. My son always gets a lot of advice and encouragement from Joey. He does in-home lessons, which are very convenient. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we smoothly transition to on-line lessons."
