I have played saxophone since I was in 5th grade. I have been in a variety of groups over the years; rock, funk, punk, jazz quartets and big-band jazz, and the experimental use of electronics. You will learn proper breath (dynamics) and embouchure control, tonguing techniques, standard and alternate fingerings, approaches to improvisation and assistance with a varied repertoire for performance. I own a 1967 Beuscher alto saxophone and an Elkhart C-tenor saxophone. My home studio has recording capability which I use to record lessons when they are needed for review. Ear training is a crucial part to music on any level, and I encourage playing by ear as an important element to improvisation and music appreciation. My lessons are fun, informative, and creative!

About Benjamin
Hello Future Students!

I recently moved to Detroit from Ypsilanti. Before that I was in NYC for 10 years and during the '90s I was in Chicago. Those experiences vastly helped me develop Networking, Performance and Teaching experience.

Whether you want to pursue a Musical Career or simply learn how to Play your Favorite Tunes for friends and family, I am here as your Teacher and Guide. I teach at my own home or through the use of Skype. I hope to get my Car fixed soon!

As a Father of four, I have had the joy in teaching my children Guitar, Saxophone, Songwriting, Composition and Keyboard. As a parent I have found that Patience and Encouragement is sometimes the best form of support. It has been proven that learning Music helps develop intuition, self-awareness, and social skills as well as improve in other subjects not directly
related to the arts such as Mathematics and Science.

One of the most important aspects of playing Music is being able to Play by Ear. This has been a priceless gift that I have developed throughout my life and I encourage all musicians, young and old, to do the same. The use of simple Rhythmic Dictation and Ear Training exercises can do wonders for "picking out" Beats and Harmonies no matter what Genre we are interested in.

I attended music courses at The Boston School of Contemporary Music, Thomas Jefferson College (MI), and have a BA double majoring in Music Composition and English at Columbia College Chicago.

Besides touring internationally as a Guitarist and Saxophonist, I am a Songwriter. THIRD BORDER's "Sun of Water; Sea of Light" was selected to be nominated for the Grammy's as The Best Alternative Album of the Year in 2006. On this record, I played Guitar, Saxophone, sang Lead Vocal and wrote all Songs. So, if you are a songwriter, we can polish up your approach!

If you would like to learn how to compose a Solo, a Duet or Ensemble, I can get you started in a low-stress, one-step-at-a-time procedure. As a Composer, I have done Sound Design for Film, Dance, Spoken Word and Multi-media Performance - most notably with renowned poet Anne Carson and former members of The Merce Cunningham Dance Co. I am Composer and Conductor for New York City's first full-on Saxophone Orchestra; a 13-member ensemble.

I hope to talk to you soon!
Benjamin

My teaching style is relaxed with a forte on Patience and Encouragement. Though I have specific expectations on what needs to be learned, I gear each lesson towards the student's wishes and their personal direction in Creativity. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can guide you wherever you are headed!

For Guitar (acoustic or electric), you will learn the fundamentals of Music Theory, Chord Structure, varied Strumming and Picking Techniques, and Scale Positions to travel from one part of the neck to the other. Any song you wish to learn, I can teach!

For Saxophone, you will learn proper Embouchure technique, Notation, Music Theory, and Scale Patterns for improvisation. Whether you are interested in a Classical, Blues, Funk or Jazz approach, I can help you find your own sound that is both personal and professional.

I teach 2nd year Piano and Drums/Percussion directing you into Intermediate level.

For those leaning toward the experimental genres, I am well-versed in the use of Electronics. Much can be accomplished with my lessons on Sound-Scape Improvisation either as 1 on 1 or Group Workshops.

*** Studio Equipment ***
At Home Studio: music stands, metronome, guitar amps, electric and acoustic guitars, guitar tablature, staff music paper, a scanner for weekly homework. I can also record and send MP3s of our lessons to review at home if you wish.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students will need their own instrument, a mutually chosen music book to learn from, a metronome, and hopefully easy access to a keyboard (very helpful!)

*** Specialties ***
I am fluent in Rock genres, Blues, Beginning Jazz, Beginning Classical technique, Prepared Guitar, Electronics/Sound Art.

Out of all teachers and Gleb is the expert in so many ways teaching and applying the lessons to stick and to create a great Saxaphone player. He has so many techniques in his arsenal to make any student become a Saxaphone player and a good one. His patience, his depth of understanding the music and the student and how to apply make it click. He works for the music and for the student rather than anything else. Gleb, please keep on teaching. You aren't just a teacher, you are a music therapist and a professional one of a kind. You know the ins and outs and from my experience with my child I have seen your artful and dedicated work that money cant really pay it. THANK YOU!

I teach saxophone primarily through the tried and true Rubank method. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), reed selection, and both classical and jazz repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for saxophone to help my students progress the fastest.

About Kyle
Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Teaching private music lessons is my primary job, so I have much experience and wisdom compared to teachers who teach "on the side." Students of all ages stay with me a long time because I am very flexible in my teaching and know how to interact with many personalities and learning styles, producing great results and progress. My specialties are piano, woodwinds, and music technology (i.e. recording and production). You can find more information about me and what I do at caseymusicservice﮳com.

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

I have been teaching saxophone for about seven years and playing for about fourteen years. In the summer of 2016 I graduated from the U.S. Army School of Music as a tenor saxophone player. In college my major instrument was the baritone saxophone.

When teaching lessons I like to start out by finding out where my student is currently playing at. I will then create a custom plan to suit the student's needs and interests to ensure lessons are engaging. My lessons are student focused.

About Brittney
I am a music teacher in Nashua, New Hampshire. I currently teach middle school music grades six through eight. Previously, I taught general music grades kindergarten through eighth grade as well as instrumental lessons, band, and chorus. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a specialization in instrumental music. In the summer of 2016 I graduated from the U.S. Army School of Music as tenor saxophone player.

With about 13 years of playing experience, I just completed my degree at the California State University of San Bernardino for saxophone performance, and am planning on pursuing music through graduate school. I will help with any aspect of playing, whether it is technique (breathing, articulation, fingers, embouchure), reading, theory, listening, or a specific piece you might be working on. Lessons will be tailored to each student. I am not selective to age either. I honestly just love music, so whatever your goals are as a player, just contact me and I can address any concerns you might have. Looking forward to learning together!

About Dakota
Hi, my name is Dakota. I have a Bachelor of Music from California State University of San Bernardino for saxophone performance and about 13 years of playing experience.

I want to help my students learn in a way that does not intimidate them. We grow best when we love what we do, so I want everyone to enjoy each lesson so they can't wait to open their case again. At the same time our goal is to understand how to practice smart and be self-dependent learners.

I will help with whatever aspect of playing you would like, whether it is technique, reading, theory, listening (improvisation), or if there is an audition you would like help preparing for. I'm always eager to teach, so please don't hesitate to contact me. If you are in the area and want some help, just shoot me a message! Looking forward to learning together!

I am an experienced saxophonist/bassist and a student at the College of Southern Maryland. While working towards my degree in music, I have found joy and reward in sharing my passion with others. My lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, improvisation, technique, and more. Let's get started!

About Dylan
Music has been my life for as long as I can remember! I played saxophone all through school, participating in Solo & Ensemble, as well as All-County and All-State symphonic bands. As a student at CSM, I enjoy being a part of their Jazz Ensemble "Solid Brass", as well as their Latin Jazz group, "Ritmo Cache." I gig with a jazz combo and I also play bass in a rock band called "With Lying Eyes", playing frequent cover shows on the weekends and sometimes opening for national rock bands in the DMV area. I study saxophone under Randy Runyon at the college, in addition to taking music theory and ear training classes. I'm an experienced player and absolutely love sharing my passion for music with others. I work with people of all ages and help them unlock their potential to creatively express themselves through one of the most fun forms of art!

What kind of music do you like? Have you tried learning music from a method book and just didn't have fun? Over the past 5 years of teaching several instruments I have developed a system of learning songs that YOU love and learn what music is about. With the songs you want to learn, we talk about articulation, intonation, and many exercises to help you become better. We can talk about reed care, instrument care as well!

About Brandon
I am a professional Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute player. I have been composing my own music for video games and short films, and working as a mixing engineer for a couple years now, just really exploring many different aspects of music. I have a degree from Utah Valley University in Commercial Music, and spent most of that degree on the performance aspect of music.

My Saxophone students can expect some of the fun and some of the practical. We will be working on articulation, tone production, intonation, breathing, different forms of vibrato and many other aspects of control over the saxophone while learning songs that you as the student want to learn.

I have been taking piano lessons for 15 years, and turning around and teaching the techniques and abilities to my students have been really fun! We work on the fundamentals, but we
focus on learning cool songs and do things that few other instruments can do.

I have a lot of fun with music theory. I try to be practical in what students need to know, but can teach much more. I have a jazz background and can teach jazz theory, including comping and improvisation.
