Whether you're picking up a saxophone for the first time or looking to reach the next level, I can help you achieve your goals!

About Max
I have worked with over 2,500 students in one-on-one lessons, educational workshops, and outreach concerts. My lessons focus on developing technique, practice strategies, a good sound, aural skills, music theory knowledge, and stylistic fluency.

My private students have placed into selective programs including the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble at The Hartt School, the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Band, and Interlochen Arts Camp. I teach saxophone at Manchester Community College, South Windsor High School, Camp Encore / Coda, and Music and Arts East Hartford. I believe students of all ages can find enjoyment and success in music.

You'll benefit from my years of experience as a professional performing musician. From 2012-2016 I toured with the Asylum Quartet, an award-winning ensemble acclaimed for virtuo
sity, creativity, and innovation. I have also performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and International Opera Theater. I hold a Master's in Music from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona State University (ASU).

Though I specialize in saxophone, I also love teaching beginning and intermediate piano.

If you are outside my travel radius, I may be able to accommodate you for an additional travel fee - please contact me!

***Lesson Materials***

Saxophone students must have an instrument in good repair and required accessories (reeds, mouthpiece, etc.). Piano students must have access to a tuned piano or an electric keyboard with touch-sensitive, weighted keys. I am happy to recommend instrument and accessory brands; please check with me before a major purchase. Quality, working equipment is critical to students’ success.

I periodically request that students purchase books and other lesson materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are planning to buy a saxophone, piano/keyboard, or mouthpiece, please consult with me first. Having good-quality instrument/accessories will help you achieve your success. There are a number of cheap products that are easy to find and purchase, but they are often of poor quality. I can recommend options for your first purchase that may be more expensive, but will help you succeed in the long term.

About Tina
I've been teaching private lessons for over 15 years. I am a high school music teacher/band director and a freelance musician. I'm looking forward to making music with you!

Your lessons are up to you! If you know what you want to learn, I'll help get you there. If you don't know where to start, I can lead you through the fundamentals and help you set goals.

I like to keep things positive in music lessons. Music is, after all, for fun and enjoyment! I like to blend teaching technique and musicianship, while keeping things fun.

If you're a beginner, we'll get started with all the fundamentals you need to begin making music. If you've been playing for a while, I'll help you perfect things you've been working on, expand your musical experience, and help you reach your fullest potential as a musician.

My home studio has chairs, mus
ic stand, and areas for parents to sit in on lessons. Garage band is available for recording. Students need an instrument and books.

Beginner to advanced students who are at least 8 years old.

About Diane
My journey in music began when I was around 5 years old and first heard the children's choir sing in church. My mother used to tell me that I would beg her to let me sing in the choir but she would always have to tell me I wasn't old enough. As soon as I was old enough, she enrolled me in church choir and I've been in it ever since.

I have performed with the Rochester symphony orchestra and chorale, Rochester community band, Rochester civic music, church choirs and orchestras, Lake of the Isles community band, and performed Handel's Messiah at Carnegie hall in New York City. I've done some acting and singing in musicals as well.

As I got older, I discovered playing the clarinet was fun but never gave up singing. I just did them both. After becoming proficient on clarinet, I explored flute, oboe, saxophone, piano and last
ly, the celtic harp.

My philosophy on teaching is "you are never too old to experience the joy of making music on whatever instrument you choose and I will strive to help you discover your hidden musical talents".

During my 20+ years of teaching, I've had many students perform with local youth orchestras, receive superior ratings in high school music competitions, win concerto competitions, be excepted to perform with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in their playing with the pros program and go on to college to major or minor in music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music should be fun and not a chore so I like to really get to know my students and structure their lessons in a way so the student has fun but also feels like they have learned something new or plays or sings something better than they did when they arrived.

I expect a student to schedule time in his/her week to practice since my most successful students excel in their school bands and go on to perform with local youth orchestras and other ensembles. I will remind students that they will get back what they put into it.

Listed below is my expertise level on the instruments I feel comfortable teaching.

Flute: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Clarinet: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Oboe: beginner to intermediate (all ages)
Saxophone: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Piano: beginner only (children and adults)
Singing: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Celtic harp: beginner to intermediate (all ages)
Music theory: beginner to advanced (all ages)

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have music, piano, CD player, musical instruments and a music stand available at the studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I travel with my instruments and some music but not all. If there is a piece of music at my studio which the student is interested in looking at, I will make arrangements to bring it with me to your next lesson.

Students at home should have an instrument, a good music stand and a quiet area set aside for the lesson. Pets should be kept in an area other than where the lesson will be taught.

*** Specialties ***
Broadway, showtunes, pop, classical and jazz

Hi there! I am a classically trained saxophonist with a Masters from Peabody Conservatory and over 16 years of teaching experience. I tailor my lessons based on your interests and skill level, finding pieces you enjoy which challenge you. I can also give you a strong sense of the fundamentals, focusing on intonation, finger technique, vibrato and tone. Looking forward to hearing from you!

About Maureen
Welcome to online saxophone lessons! While studying with me we will focus on practice techniques to develop your speed, vibrato and intonation (one of the most important aspects of a good sound!) For students in grade school, lessons can help your skills in band class and in participation in solo and ensemble. It is a great chance to perform works before doing an important audition! In my private teaching I have also focused on playing group pieces with my own arrangements of pop music, like Usher and Rihanna! I find it really enjoyable and it allows my students to challenge themselves while working in a different format than they are used to.

I learned classical saxophone at Peabody Conservatory in Maryland, where I have a bachelor's and master's degree. I performed in wind ensemble and quartets. Currently I play in the Capital Wind Sy
mphony in D.C., where we perform concert pieces for wind ensemble. I also teach at the Levine School of Music, which is very exciting since I studied there as a teenager! Thanks for your interest and I look forward to working with you!

I have been teaching saxophone lessons to students of all abilities for five years, and I have been playing the saxophone for thirteen years. I teach both classical and jazz, and I cater my lesson plans to the specific needs, goals, and learning styles of every student. I have studied with Taimur Sullivan and Timothy McAllister during my undergraduate years at the Bienen School of Music. I recently represented Illinois in the MTNA Young Artist Competition and was one of 25 young saxophonists in North America to be selected for the semifinals of their Collegiate Solo Competition. I am able to teach instrument fundamentals, repertoire, sight reading, music theory, ear training, basics of improvisation, and much more. I look forward to working with you!

About Aidan
Aidan is a classical saxophonist and music educator. He has performed in venues across the United States as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble member.

In only his second year of undergraduate study, he was named the Winner of the 2015 Illinois Young Artist Woodwind Performance Competition through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). He went on to be named the Honorable Mention in the East Central Division round. For two consecutive national conferences (2016, 2018) organized by the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA), he was selected as one of twenty-five young saxophone soloists to perform and compete in the Semifinals.

His primary collegiate instructors are Taimur Sullivan and Timothy McAllister. In addition, he has played in masterclasses for Steven Banks, Jérôme Laran, Clifford Leaman, Brandon Qua
rles, and Nikita Zimin. Finally, he has taken supplementary lessons from Vincent David, Carrie Koffman, Chien-Kwan Lin, Otis Murphy, and Kenneth Tse.

Since 2014, he has maintained a private saxophone studio of his own, helping area students improve their craft. He has been able to quickly pinpoint opportunities for improvement and learning, and effectively communicates those ideas in frameworks suited for the age and ability of each student.

He has performed world premieres and is working on the collaborative development of new creative projects. Aidan has been a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) since 2015 and recently participated in the American Saxophone Academy (ASA).

I have 14+ years of experience playing the Saxophone. I have played in all types of groups with people from different parts of the world. During the lessons my emphasis is all the fundamentals such as tone, technique, intonation, feel, etc. But, what I believe is unique about my lessons is my emphasis on improvisation, ear training, and writing. My strong background in Jazz has helped me to be able to play all different types of music from Afro Cuban to Rock, R&B, classical, Funk, African and many more styles. Listening is a huge part of what I emphasize to my students, especially listening to all styles of music. I also have a huge background in writing for different styles/ensembles in music. I have my students write music they are studying in order to understand the role of the saxophone in relation to other instruments in the band.

About Andrew
I am a saxophonist but also play the clarinet, flute, piano, EWI, and compose/arrange all different types of music. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Jazz Composition/Performance.

As of recently I have recorded my debut album "The Life of an Aquarius" at the renown recording studio The Carriage House in Stamford CT with 14 other professional musicians. I am also playing around NYC with my own group at venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

I have also background teaching at a music program called Project Music to kids who could not afford private lessons, and were given the opportunity to play music and learn from professional musicians.

I am open to the students needs, and want my students to feel that they can express themselves in front of me on what they are looking to achieve by studying with me. Consistent practice an
d performing is what has lead me to my current musical success.

At Berklee I studied with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world such as Bill Pierce, George Garzone, Ed Tomassi, Darren Barrett, Greg Hopkins, and many more. They all taught me about the importance of constant practice and learning and growing at your craft.

Overall, I have had a lot of musical experiences and want to pass them on to my students so they can experience the joy of performing in any musical setting.
