Phillip Morin has been a full-time professional saxophonist based out of New Orleans since 2011, playing literally hundreds of gigs a year as well as working with local studios and touring with national acts.

I am an experienced music teacher of 15 years, specializing in beginner, intermediate, and advanced saxophone players. My other specialty is working with intermediate and advanced jazz improv students of all instruments. All ages are welcome. I will customize the lessons and program to the needs and goals of each student. Whether you are an award winning jazz soloist or someone just starting out on the sax, I can take you to the next step and we can have a great time doing it! Let's get started!

I have played saxophone since I was in 5th grade. I have been in a variety of groups over the years; rock, funk, punk, jazz quartets and big-band jazz, and the experimental use of electronics. You will learn proper breath (dynamics) and embouchure control, tonguing techniques, standard and alternate fingerings, approaches to improvisation and assistance with a varied repertoire for performance. I own a 1967 Beuscher alto saxophone and an Elkhart C-tenor saxophone. My home studio has recording capability which I use to record lessons when they are needed for review. Ear training is a crucial part to music on any level, and I encourage playing by ear as an important element to improvisation and music appreciation. My lessons are fun, informative, and creative!

Having studied and performed in multiple genres including classical, jazz, R&B, musical theater, gospel, and others, I will be able to show you how to master your instrument in any context.
