I took lessons from Chase in Colorado for about 2 years and couldnt be happier. The appraoches that he taught me I still use to this day and I feel like I can play with pretty much anyone because of his great lessons. If he didnt leave Colorado i would still be taking lessons from him!

I customize my students curriculum based on their specific goals. I feel teaching students to play and transcribe songs and solos is my most important job. Most students come to me looking for structure so I try and provide a clear path for them to reach their goals. Although I love teaching music theory I understand that it is not for everyone, so I only offer theoretical principles when it is appropriate or asked for. I rarely use textbooks, but I do employ a lot of exercises and educational material when it applies to a lesson.

For students with no prior music experience I use text books, and exercises to strengthen their technique, expose them to musical ideas, and give them a foundation of basic music theory.  After that is accomplished I move into a curriculum that is more personal to their specific goals.

About Jared

I have been playing instruments and performing live since I was eleven. In college, I studied both piano and guitar, and received a bachelors of fine arts with a concentration in jazz guitar from Columbia College Chicago in 2004. I moved to Seattle in 2004 and have been performing and giving private

He pays attention to detail, is super organized with a definite plan and knows how to keep a student's interest. He is balanced and very realistic in his approach. He is talented and meets the student where he is. He is even transcribing a Bollywood song for my son and my son is loving it! He is flexible... We are so happy to have found him.

My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so that we can build upon their strengths and focus on lessons to improve weaker areas. Students will learn how to build dexterity, use proper technique, and be creative. Every student has different goals, some really want to learn theory and read music. Others may simply want to learn to strum a few chords. Whatever the goal, I can provide the instructions to help the student succeed!

"amazing teacher

jeff S. is an excellent guitar teacher, ive had him as a teacher for about a year maybe even longer and the only reason i stopped was because my financial situation took a downfall , but if i still had the money id be seeing him as much as i could . i would leave his class extremely happy knowing i could go home and finally play guitar if it werent for him id probably have hung up my baby(my guitar) a long time ago . he made things really easy to understand ,he had great patience for me when i couldnt get a lick/riff down instantly and he always broke things down to a level where my mind would just absorb the information. i highly reccommend him for anyone who wants to learn guitar in a fun and productive way"

"Rina is an awesome teacher. I have been taking guitar lessons with her for about five months, and I enjoy her lessons tremendously.
She is knowledgeable, very nice, and cares about her students. It's clear that she loves music and loves teaching.
I like that she presents just the right challenge to keep me motivated, and at the same time is honestly encouraging. She is precise and points out areas that need improvement, and notices strengths and progress.
She also tries to see what your interests are and brings in music that might appeal to you.
I have learned so much, and look forward to the lessons."

"Steve is a great teacher. I had some small working knowledge after trying to teach myself for a year without any luck and with Steve's help I've learned a lot and can play a couple of songs! He really listens to you and what your interests are and focuses on those rather than the traditional method of going through the basics and earning things we have no interest in like we all did in band class in school. Of course if that's what you need he will, but in all its focused on you and what you need to progress yourself as a musician. He is also very easy to work with in terms of making and changing schedules. If you have a hectic and ever changing life like myself it's no problem for Steve to work around. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in taking their guitar playing to the next level."

"Paul is a teacher who really cares about the progress of his students. In our first few meetings, he introduced me to different chords step by step and doesn't give too much all at once which helped me remember each chord easily. When I play he also corrects what I’m doing wrong by showing me techniques that will get me playing better. His lessons are also fun as he always incorporates different types of songs for each lesson. I've only been meeting with him for 2 months and I am already seeing some improvement in my guitar playing. At the same time, I’m also enjoying the process of learning! I highly recommend taking Paul’s lessons for all levels!"

What is a Lute, and How is it Different From the Guitar?

As a guitar player, I rarely had to deal with the issue of explaining what my instrument was to people I met. Even non-musicians are generally familiar with the guitar and the many forms and shapes it takes. When I made the transition to playing the lute, however, this changed significantly, due in no small part to the odd-looking case that I have to carry the instrument around in. People will often ask me, “What is a lute?” In truth, the history of the lute is a long one and I often s …
