My main focus throughout my career can be broken down into 3 categories:

-Technique
-Knowledge of the fretboard
-Chord and Scale knowledge

I guarantee that if you are comfortable with these 3 areas, you will be able to play whatever you want, any style, any genre. Of course once the basics are finished we can then move into the specifics of your chosen style or chosen combination of styles. For example:

-Jazz-
We would start to focus more on larger chord voicings as well as a more complex scale language. Heavy emphasis on improvising

-Blues-
Less of an emphasis on chords and more on soloing, specifically articulation techniques like bending, sliding, vibrato, legato (hammer ons/pull offs), basically all of the things that will make you sound "bluesy"

-Singer/Songwriter-
Less emphasis on lead playing and more on keys, chord voicing, and chord progressions. Also song structure and melodic note choice.

-Metal-
Heavy emphasis on techniques such as hybrid ...

About Christian

My name is Christian L. and I am a 29 year old guitar/music instructor in the Orlando area. A teacher of this caliber comes around once in a blue moon. His knowledge of the guitar and music is vast and he knows how to pass that on simply and effectively. He can take you where you want to go musically if you have the dedication. My creative potential has expanded beyond what I thought was possible. I am beginning to have a real experience of myself as a musician and the unfolding of my own music through the insight of his teachings. I definitely recommend learning from him!

Christian was super helpful and helped me get a better idea of how i want to learn. Thanks so much!

Christian is not only a talented musician, but he is also a true guitar teacher. So far, I have taken 4 classes and I've learned more with his methods than any other way. I've had tried from the Fender Play app, YouTube videos, to other instructors, but nothing compares to his teachings. He is patient and truly pays attention to what I am struggling with. He breaks everything down piece by piece. If one way doesn't work, he tries a different way until I understand. As mentioned before, he is a gifted teacher. One thing is to be a great guitar player who teaches how to play a few chords, and another is to be a great guitar player who puts him/herself in the student's shoes and help them progress with each lesson. He is one of a kind. Thanks, Christian!

First lesson was great. It took a little time setting up and getting to know each other. For a first lesson, I came away with some very useful information on a song I was having a problem with. I like the direction it is going. Looking forward to the next lesson.

Well hello there budding musician- I started taking ukulele lessons with nearly zero previous experience and little idea what to expect a few months ago. As a teacher, Ian is extremely patient, accommodating, and attentive, but remains very much human throughout the whole process. His years spent teaching across instruments, ages, and levels of expertise make for a trustworthy experience. Definitely recommend.

Teaching Guitar Lessons and Theory in Orlando, FL

By Damien S. - Orlando Guitar Teacher

Do you want to learn how to play the guitar in Orlando? If yes, then you’ve come to the right place. Private guitar lessons and classes with a TakeLessons Certified™ teacher near you - whether in-home, studio, or online classes - accelerates progress, increases enjoyment, and improves every beginner's chances of becoming an expert player.

Teaching music theory and guitar lessons in Orlando exposes me to a wide variety of genres and styles. The eclectic population of Orlando and the city’s many live music venues lend to that. As a working guitarist and composer, exposure to a wide variety of musical cultures gives me the ability to pass it on to my students. I love musically broadening myself and students to these various genres and musical cultures when I am teaching guitar lessons in Orlando. Education is never-ending and creativity stems from that education. Orlando's culturally rich communities and reputation as one of the biggest tourist hubs in the world make it a mandatory stop for touring bands. There is never a shortage of live music in this "City Beautiful.”

As a teacher, I enjoy throwing my students into playing immediately during their guitar lessons in Orlando. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced musician, you play to have fun and enjoy what you are doing. Music is about expressing yourself and I feel my students should be able to do that sooner than later. A working knowledge of music, i.e. theory, also helps develop the musician’s creative attributes, along with helpful skills and rules to some of music's order. I enjoy teaching theory and watching a student "get it." This just helps broaden the student’s playing ability and creativity. I believe in giving the student what they want and helping broaden their knowledge and ability. A happy student is a practicing student and returning student.

Our guitar instructors work with students of all ages: kids, teenagers, adults, and even seniors. We guarantee a customized experience that will exceed your expectations. In fact, we are so committed to your happiness that we offer all new customers a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on your first lesson.

How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Play Guitar?

Do you want to start guitar lessons but you're wondering how long it will take you to see the payoff? Or, have you already started and you're wondering if you're really making progress? Guitar teacher Peter M. shares just how long it really takes most students to learn guitar... This age old question has been asked by nearly all of my students for as long as I’ve been teaching: how long will it take to learn how to play guitar? Will it take a week? A month? A year? Longer? And the answer …
