Guitar Lessons in Houston: More than Just Strings
By Andrew D. - Houston Guitar Teacher
Have you ever wished that you had a secret world -one that you could retreat to any time you desired? A world that you alone could shape and, each time you returned, remained completely untouched by any hand other than your own? That world exists, and not in some distant galaxy or in the dreams of those deep in sleep (although they may exist there as well). That world exists in music; more specifically, that world exists when you dive into the world of learning to play music and musical instruments. Learning, growing, changing, and moving with music as it moves with you. When you take guitar lessons in Houston, all of these things are possible.
This is the reason I love to teach guitar lessons in Houston. To be able to share MY world that I have been building for so long is just such a powerful thing. Once you jump off that cliff into the open air that is the musical realm, you never stop falling deeper and deeper into it. It is truly something that stays with you for a lifetime. There is nothing I enjoy more than bringing somebody new to that cliff and showing them what lies beyond. It’s such a tremendous feeling when I see the look of understanding and excitement on a student’s face when comprehension washes over them, and then to see them turn around and use that new tool to shape their musical mind.
So awaken YOUR musical mind - take the plunge and begin to shape your world. Sign up for guitar lessons in Houston today!

Hi there. I'm Andrew. I have been teaching for about 5 years now and it has become one of the things I truly love to do. When I am not writing, reading, gigging, touring, or recording, I love to teach people the things that have made my life so colorful.
With a little push in the right direction, you can become an active participant in the things you love. No more watching from the sidelines. Become the musician, writer, speaker, reader that you have always wanted to be. It's never too late! Trying something new or asking for help can be intimidating, but I am happy to show you that the rewards far exceed the costs. Trust me, I speak from experience (as a tutor should, I would think!). I've taught personalized lessons for over 5 years now without a single complaint. At this point in my musical career, the majority of my experience and attitude has come from being "in the field". I've played South By South West, Westheimer Block Party, opened up for bands like the Misfits and

YOU can be an active musician. If you have the passion and desire. The first step though, is learning your instrument. Learning an instrument is something that stays with you for the rest of your life. It's an unfaltering companion that can benefit you in so many ways. I like to toss out the strict "teacher/student" regiment and create a laid back, fun, easy going atmosphere. I want to be buds and SHARE music with each other and introduce you into this world that I have grown to love so so much. There is nothing more rewarding. I promise. So let's get started!

I am very laid back. Your progress is directly linked to you. I will give it my all to teach you and help you, but if you don't practice or soak it in, that's on you! I hate having a tense, seminar type lesson atmosphere. Lessons with me will be easy going and relaxed. I don't want to have to put on a sweater vest and wag my finger as a I scold you. That's just not me.
However, I DO expect you to get things done. Why waste your time with lessons if you're not going to take them seriously on any level? The curriculum will be totally personalized for YOU. After all, not everybody likes the same music and style. The first lesson or two will be getting a handle on exactly what YOU want to learn and what YOU want out of it. Finding out your favorite bands/artists, guitar players, bass players, etc. There's nothing worse than being taught something you have no desire for, but having it drilled into your head week after week! So whether that be blues, folk, metal, whatever, that's the first step. With that information I'll begin constructing and laying out the rest of your lesson plan.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Although I assume you have an instrument of your own (if not I recommend getting one, it sort of helps), if you're looking to just try things out at first I have more than a few extra that I'd be happy to let you use. My teaching studio doubles as a recording studio as well. This means 2 things: if ever you would like to record some of your music you know where to go! And also, I have the means to record the entire lesson if you'd like. You'll need to supply the blank CD(s) of course. It's not a requirement to record the lesson, just an option! Basically, I have everything you could ever possibly need for music lessons here. So you're set.
*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitars, amps, etc. anything that would be needed I've got!
*** Specialties ***
I am versed in blues, rock, metal, folk, hardcore, acoustic-finger-style and various other acoustic styles, and more. Through teaching and experience as a working musician I have mastered most genres and styles. When sitting at home jamming in my free time, I probably most frequently find myself playing acoustic finger-style, blues, folk, or hardcore, but love and appreciate most styles. So, bring it on!

I have been plain guitar for 10 years now. (professionally for 3 years) and that is still my current occupation. There is no obstacle I cannot help you climb from the beginner student to the advanced.
Zane has been teaching both singing and guitar lessons for 6 years; students have ranged in age between 6-80 years old.

Like any guitar teacher, my lessons are designed to explain how the instrument works, and where to put your fingers, but I try to move past this to where students understand why the instrument works the way it does, why each placement of fingers produces the sounds it does, what a song is saying lyrically and musically, and the relevant history of both pop/rock music and the guitar itself which has lead to our present state. Please Email me your questions. I look forward to our first lesson.

For Beginners: You'll start out small and simple. Each lesson will be structured as Review/New/Drills/Questions.
Intermediate: Most folks in this category are usually the ones that have reached a guitar playing plateau. You may know chords, scales, some songs etc but can't quite go further. I'm well equipped to help you move forward. I'll assess your playing level and expand your skill set based upon what I discover.
Advanced: This is for those aspiring shredders out there. Sweep picking, legato, alternate picking, tapping etc. You will learn efficient practice and how to set and achieve goals.
In the winter of 2006, with only a guitar, a backpack and a few hundred dollars in his pocket, Zeshan arrived in America to begin his journey through college. Determined to play to a live audience, he sought out and established several bands in the
Zeshan has been playing guitar for over 15 years now, and continues to enjoy learning and refining his skills. In his opinion, a musician never truly stops learning. Along the way, he also learned to play the violin and piano. While living in Dallas, he studied Jazz Guitar under Paul Metzger, a well-established local jazzer, and studied Classical Guitar with the ever-so-humble Carlo Pezzimenti, one of Andre Segovia’s last remaining students. During this time, Zeshan completed his Associates Degree in Music Performance, graduating with Honors.
Zeshan's passion shines through in his teaching. He believes that anyone, young or old, can learn to play music with the right approach. He has a thorough understanding of guitar technique as well as experience with a variety of different learning styles, and he uses these as tools to make his students comfortable with the instrument, as he incrementally nurtures the inner musical voice that gives his students the joyful expression that they desire.

The way he ran lessons, for me at least, were based on the kind of music I wanted to play at the time, and what I was listening to. It gives you, as a student, the chance to really explore all of the nuances of what you are trying to play. Tell Marco which song you want to try to learn, and he will transform it into a clinic on what I like to call the "little things" most young guitar players overlook.
Like any great teacher, Marco expects nothing short of your best effort, so stay focused, and commit time to practice.
I only had lessons with Marco for a few months, but nearly 9 years later, I remember them like they were yesterday. My approach to music incorporates so many of those "little things" that I mentioned earlier. Take lessons with Marco. You'll see what I mean. And trust me. You will be glad that you did."
It was required that a college syllabus was to be followed to meet credit award. Keith was able to instruct guitar in a manner which allowed this student to retain an interest, expand desire, and maintain discipline necessary to continue playing. By integrating music theory and notation into practice, Keith was able to clarify expected requirements to meet the demands of a college syllabus. Utilizing computer technology, lessons have been enhanced as well. This has also nurtured the continued learning desire. I would recommend Keith as an instructor to accelerate anyone's ability to play the guitar."
