Started with some basics and built on that. Was very helpful in showing me tuning, proper hand positioning, and how to improve my fingering (those pesky notes). Got a lot for the first class and enough homework to keep me busy! Will be meeting again next week.

I have been teaching guitar for the past 10 years. I really enjoy teaching guitar and seeing my students learning and enjoying it too! I use a book that I really like but of course I add other materials when I think it is suitable for my student. Each student learns differently so I adapt to his learning style and to his needs.

About Soraya

About me, I have been playing the guitar for more than 20 years. I studied at the Conservatory of Music in France. In San Francisco, I studied and played with many great jazz musicians and teachers. I have also studied theory/ composition, electronic music, and voice. I hold an MA in Education.

I've been working with Soraya for over two years. My experience with taking lessons from Soraya has been a wonderful journey of self discovery as well as learning an amazing instrument. My schedule is quite busy and I also have a 10mo old so I don't have a lot of time to practice. However somehow Soraya's teaching technique keeps me moving forward during every class. We meet once a week and I am always excited for my lesson. Sometimes it has been really challenging to learn new chords and yet she is always patient with me and curates the lessons if she sees I need more time on something. Now I am learning a new song that I picked out and it's been so much fun. I highly recommend Soraya and her knowledge about music theory is an added bonus.

This teacher never showed up to my appointment. Her phone number was disconnected.. so much for buying 10 lessons in advance.

My son has been getting guitar lessons from Jeremy for about six months. My son is really enjoying learning to play and he looks forward to his lessons with Jeremy! Jeremy is a wonderful teacher. He's knowledgeable, intelligent, professional and easy going. Jeremy is not the first teacher that my son has had but he's by far the best. I feel very fortunate to have found him!

I learned so much from Jeremy over about 4 years of lessons. He listened to my goals, and tailored his lessons to help me achieve them. From the fundamentals to more advanced skills, such as improvisation, he stuck with me and allowed me to develop my own voice on the guitar.

I'm a total beginner on the guitar. Watched a few youtube vids, learned some basics, but working in-person with Jeremy I've progressed a LOT faster. Worth the investment!

I've been taking lessons from Scotty for over a year and have learned a lot about theory, form, and style. Had taken lessons from other instructors and felt that I should had been further along after 1 year. One hour lesson time is perfect for me and I always leave wishing I had more time.

Great Teacher

Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then I’ve learn in years with other teachers.

"I can say without any reservation that Raymond is the complete package in a teacher! Raymond brings a sense of joy to learning guitar that makes me look forward to lessons, which I always leave in a better mood than when I started. He is probably the most insightful instructor that I have ever had the pleasure to work with--in music or any other field. He understands my strengths and weaknesses and tailors his teaching to my needs and my background. While I have a fair amount of musical experience, my struggles with stress and lack of confidence could have easily led me to quit taking lessons some time ago. But Raymond has a way of instilling confidence and making learning and practicing so fun that I just can't stop playing (and I started lessons in 2012)! Hearing him play with such grace and beauty, even the simple pieces that I am attempting, provides that much more motivation. And you'll never meet a warmer and more genuine person!"
