I understand it's easy to lose drive when you're constantly drilling scales and fingering. I try to frame all of my lessons in reference to what music really is: the creation of songs. Through composition, my students won't just learn scale and chord structure, but they'll organically develop these skills while writing their own songs and building their personal portfolio.

About Peter

Over the past 10 years, I've worked as a professional touring musician (singer, guitarist, pianist) for the rock band, Inside Switch. I studied piano at the Dallas, Texas School of Music. I also attended the James Madison University music program. I have played piano for 20 years and guitar for 15.

What I Learned From Peter.

- THE METRONOME IS SO IMPORTANT
- The voice guides the guitar if you’re more of a singer
- Repetition is key
- Practice songs that aren’t in your style to ease your way into guitar
- The power resides in strumming rhythmically
- Focus is more difficult that it seems when combining singing and guitar
- Guitar is an art in itself and itself you shouldn’t master guitar, you should be it’s friend.
- Open mics and video content are the key to more success as they expose you to criticism (good or bad)
Again, the guitar is your companion.

For any aspiring musician or any musician that needs guidance and improvement on the guitar, Peter is a great teacher.

Peter is very patient and great teaching my 9yr old son. We take father and son lessons together which has been amazing. Peter is naturally talented and plays many other instruments all in from his home studio. He is also extremely flexible and accommodating. Highly recommended!

I have been teaching guitar for the past 10 years. I really enjoy teaching guitar and seeing my students learning and enjoying it too! I use a book that I really like but of course I add other materials when I think it is suitable for my student. Each student learns differently so I adapt to his learning style and to his needs.

About Soraya

About me, I have been playing the guitar for more than 20 years. I studied at the Conservatory of Music in France. In San Francisco, I studied and played with many great jazz musicians and teachers. I have also studied theory/ composition, electronic music, and voice. I hold an MA in Education.

I've been working with Soraya for over two years. My experience with taking lessons from Soraya has been a wonderful journey of self discovery as well as learning an amazing instrument. My schedule is quite busy and I also have a 10mo old so I don't have a lot of time to practice. However somehow Soraya's teaching technique keeps me moving forward during every class. We meet once a week and I am always excited for my lesson. Sometimes it has been really challenging to learn new chords and yet she is always patient with me and curates the lessons if she sees I need more time on something. Now I am learning a new song that I picked out and it's been so much fun. I highly recommend Soraya and her knowledge about music theory is an added bonus.

This teacher never showed up to my appointment. Her phone number was disconnected.. so much for buying 10 lessons in advance.

Picking a new guitar is always a gamble, but I'm glad I took the plunge! I had been studying jazz since I was young, and I needed someone with a good ear to help me get to the next level. I must have been really lucky, since Roel absolutely fit the bill. Not only was he fun to work with, but he was also highly skilled -- I could tell he had put in his thousand hours.
