I'm a music-loving stay-at-home dad who enjoys sharing his hobbies of guitar and trumpet with the world! I have been teaching students of all ages, from elementary-age to older adults, for over 4 years now and I particularly enjoy introducing beginners to the joys of a new instrument. Whether you are just picking up your instrument for the first time, or dusting it off after years of sitting in the closet, I'm honored you would consider me to help you along your journey.

While I have studied music and music education at the university level, I have also learned a great deal through real-world experience and playing alongside other musicians and gleaning whatever I can from them. I have played both trumpet and guitar my whole life and consider myself to be a life-long learner of both instruments. I offer private in-studio lessons tailored to your level and goals. Learn to play lead, rhythm, jam, and/or improvise. We can approach learning by using tab, standard notation, or by ear.

We'll focus on tunes you want to play, or take a broader approach incorporating reading music, ear training and theory.

If you’re just starting, we’ll begin with basic technique (holding the pick, strumming), playing chords and playing simple melodies.

We will cover music theory, technique, and getting to know the fingerboard, or I can teach you a specific song of your choice written out in tab.
Ideally both will be covered so you can learn the mechanics behind the music that you love to play!

Whether you're a first day student or a seasoned player, I've probably taught someone just like you before. I especially love teaching theory and fretboard logic, but I can help you learn whatever you're looking to take on.

With every student, I create a specific path for you that gives you what you're looking to learn (aka what got you excited about picking up the guitar in the first place) along with the essentials to help make your journey as smooth as possible. If there isn't quality tab readily available, I'm down to transcribe the tune for you and I guarantee you'll laugh and enjoy yourself (at no extra charge of course).
