Self-taught player of six years. This instrument is a perfect choice for amateur musicians, especially those looking to accompany themselves while they sing. Very simple to pick up, and great for small hands! I individualize my lessons to the student's preferred styles of music, but all receive a foundation in chords, melody, finger technique, and strum patterns.

About Alexandra

I am a Hampton Roads native holding a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Lee University (Cleveland, TN). I am licensed to teach instrumental and vocal music to grades K-12 and have five years' experience privately teaching students ages 4 to adult. I currently teach elementary Strings classes

About Andrew

I have loved music since I was a child. I began playing clarinet when I was 11 years old and slowly picked up new instruments like the saxophone, harmonica, guitar, ukulele, flutes, whistles, kazoo, and others. I enjoy any style of music and have a desire to learn as many instruments as possible.

Simply put, Andrew is the best. His genuine love and passion for all-things music was obvious the first day we met him. He is great with kids. He is flexible yet reliable. We love the fact that he tailors his lessons, homework, and incentives to the needs and interests of each individual student. We are confident that we could not find a better guitar instructor for our daughter.

Lynn gets down to basics from the get-go. Starting with tuning and the correct way to hold the banjo, she progresses to proper finger positions and chord structure from fret to fret. By the way, she's also very personable, and seems to enjoy a laugh from time to time.

The ukulele is a friendly-looking instrument. While the basics may be a little easier to pick up on than the guitar, strum patterns still might come as a challenge. I enjoy breaking down strum patterns of popular songs like "Riptide" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" to help students play them just like the song. Beyond the beginner level, I enjoy showing how the ukulele can be treated like a small classical guitar, playing virtuosic pieces on the travel-size instrument.

About Chris

Chris grew up hearing his dad play guitar around the house and at live shows. He “caught the bug” around age 13 and hasn’t stopped playing since! He’s been teaching guitar since 2003 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music at North Central University in 2008 where he studied jazz, blues, rock, c

My 15 year-old son started guitar this summer. He has truly enjoyed working with Chris. Chris is patient and encouraging, as well as being a cool guy that my son looks up to.
Helen
My 13-years old son was reluctant to take music lessons. He had not liked piano (with a different instructor) when he was younger, but agreed to try guitar. Since the first trial lesson, he has been excited to learn more!

Chris is a fun teacher who knows his stuff and who communicates well with both his students and their parents. I have three kids and have found it’s difficult to find a teacher who is responsive to parents + engaging with youth + gifted at music.

His rates are very reasonable for our area. His in-home lesson space is professional and comfortable — I get to sit on a comfy couch and get work done during my son’s weekly lesson. In addition, Chris goes above and beyond to make sure the lessons are meeting our expectations. He tracked down strings for us when we accidentally broke one. He has rescheduled lessons due to our busy schedules. He is genuinely kind and such a pleasure to work with — we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Brian
Our kids have loved working with Chris. He picks songs they're excited to play, teaches them patiently, and has a lot of fun with them. They've made a ton of progress since they started with Chris, and they're always excited to see him!

I have been teaching ukulele for 2 yrs, with experience working with individuals and groups. I love working with all ages! As a board-certified music therapist, I also have extensive training for working with people with disabilities. Whether you have some experience or you are brand new to the ukulele, I am excited to help you improve your skills with reading and playing from chord charts, experimenting with different strumming patterns and techniques, accompanying your voice or another instrument, reading written notation and fingerpicking, and playing full songs quickly! I find the most successful students have input in their musical journey, so I am eager to hear about your desires and goals so that I can customize my approach to motivate you and nurture your growth. Most of my materials are open source, so the cost of books (if any) will be minimal, depending on your desired focus. I am so thrilled to start uking with you!

Aisling is an amazing teacher! She is very motivating, patient and explains things very well. Within a few days I was comfortable enough to play and sing a whole song in my own and I am now able to pick up new songs a lot quicker. She has taught me some great basic techniques which I’m able to apply to many songs. Although our lessons started in-home, I am looking forward to continuing our lessons online and improving on my techniques even more. Thanks Aisling!
Eline
Aisling is a very supportive and enthusiastic teacher. She knows what she is talking about and one can easily tell how much she loves music. She does not hold back on giving compliments and she is almost happier about a succeeding piece than I was myself. She is very easy going which makes it easier to take instructions from her. The lessons were nice and relaxed; something you really want when learning how to play an instrument.
English is not my first language but she made it understandable. And during the lessons there was always room for some laughter and jokes.
I would definitely recommend Aisling as a teacher.
Mark Johnson
Aisling has been a delightful, dynamic, and polished professional from the start. We asked that she would come once (sometimes twice) a week to give lessons to my nephew who was living with us at the time. Jordan (our nephew) was 2 at the time. I believe it was very helpful and useful for us. Now, Jordan is back in India and is 4 years old. His comprehension of English and all of his locally-spoken languages is incredible. I'd highly recommend her services to everyone.
