I have been teaching a variety of fretted stringed instruments, for over 25 years. Ukulele is a fun and easy instrument for beginners of any age to learn! I teach chords, strumming, finger-picking, and melody lines, and know lots of songs that are particularly good for the ukulele. Students may choose to learn to read music, or to read tablature, or just play by rote and from lesson videos. All of my lessons are customized to match each individual student's interests and preferred learning styles. (With very young children, I will have the child learn to play and sing popular children's songs.)

Ukulele is an interesting instrument with a lot of similar characteristics to guitar. I have been playing ukulele for the past year now and it's substantially easier to play and faster to learn then guitar, but you can develop skills that will transfer over to the guitar.

About Jeremie

I'm a self taught guitarist who has been playing for 20 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and ensembles ranging from jazz to folk to rock, and I've been writing music for the same length of time. I currently perform with one of my students from TakeLessons named Mackenzie O'Brie

I'm a professional musician and instructor, teaching various instruments for over ten years. My main instruments are guitar and drums/percussion, but I've also played and taught piano, mandolin, ukulele, and harmonica.

I would love to work with novice ukulele players of any age, to get you through the basics - chords, melodies, rhythms, strumming, finger-picking, and so much more! We can learn popular songs for the ukulele and/or talk about reading and writing music on the ukulele. I'll structure lessons according to the age, skill level, and interest of the student.

"We are 2 beginners taking the class together. We have taken 3 lessons. Rich is teaching us finger strengthening exercises, chords and notes which we can use to play songs, and encouraging us to find melodies using just the strings. The lesson flies by and already we can see our improvement. Last summer I tried to teach myself using YouTube and I have learned so much more in 3 weeks than I learned all summer. He is upbeat and positive. I would recommend him as a ukulele teacher."
