The ukulele is a fun instrument to play, and one of the easiest stringed instruments for beginners to learn. Yet it offers endless possibilities for more advanced players, and it's becoming as popular on stage as it is on the back porch or a camping trip.

We all have a vast wellspring of creative energy within us, and my goal as a music teacher is to help you discover your gifts and make beautiful and deeply satisfying music. For this reason, my approach to teaching music is customized to the needs, tastes, and strengths of each student. You'll be able to choose material from popular and familiar music in whatever style attracts you.

You'll learn some basic exercises to develop core skills, gradually increasing technical challenges as your skills grow. Most importantly, you'll use scientifically-based learning techniques to train your brain and build "muscle memory." Soon you'll find yourself moving smoothly between chords without missing a beat, playing by ear, or writing your ...

I've just done my first session w/Sean. I'm signing on for a while as he seems very approachable, knowledgeable, and flexible. He also has a varied background w/singing/songwriting/guitar playing which will work for my new approach. He also works in several complimentary areas of music & likes Rumi & J. Mitchell as much as I do!

I learned from some great musicians out west that the ukulele can be really fun and have more range of notes too when tuned GDAE as a violin would be tuned. Ever since I learned that I have loved playing the ukulele and also have fun helping others to become well versed in playing many styles of music on there. One can play rhythm, melodies, improvise, write songs, play almost any style of music on a ukulele.

About Tara

I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, blues, folk, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music an

In just 2 of 5 lessons, I am already better. Tara has helped me build some basic chord theory and knowledge that I never understood as a G, C, D guitarist. I have not taken lessons since I was 10 and took piano - at 48, lessons are not so intimidating. Looking forward to learning more!
Stefan S.
Tara is a very knowledgeable and easy-going instructor. Her ability to teach theory in bite-sized chunks while keeping the lesson light and fun is extremely commendable. No grad-school music theory textbooks here, just color-coded fun. Her mnemonic devices are also hilarious. 6/5 stars

Ukelele is a super fun and easy instrument to pick up - with only four strings, it's a little easier to handle than a guitar, and it's widely used in popular music today. I have students as young as 4 years old all the way up to adults looking for a new hobby in their retirement.

Let's sing and play together!

About Megan

I grew up in a music store, and learned a love for music at an early age. I started piano at age 3, and just kept adding instruments from there. I majored in music at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where I was on scholarship for Piano, Trumpet and French Horn. I have taught General Music, Beginni

I wish I could give Megan ALL the stars in the world; 5 does not seem enough. She has taught my son guitar for 9 years, initially in person and, since. COVID, also on line. She has incredible patience, and immense musical knowledge, and such kindness and also boundless enthusiasm for ALL music and instruments! She is also just a great and super smart human being! She was easily able to translate her in-person experience to teaching him online, so I recommend her either way -without any hesitation! ❤️

Megan is an excellent music teacher that helped show me different ways to overcome challenges that I was having. She is very patient and kind and she worked hard to make connections with me and personalize my lessons.
Willa
I honestly think one of the best decisions of my life was deciding to take a lesson with a music teacher I found through a friend. I was nine and desperate to find a teacher who would take me seriously and help me grow as a musician. I remember first liking her Harry Potter necklace, and then being so surprised that she taught me in an hour the chords I had been trying to learn on my own for six months. Six years later, Megan has become not only my mentor, best friend, and biggest supporter, but has also modeled for me how to be a strong, confident woman in today's society. She constantly pushes me to be better, and she is always there for me whether it be for music theory questions or movie suggestions. I would not be where I am today musically, lyrically, or emotionally without Megan and her amazing lessons. I owe so so much to her and continue to learn so much from every class. She is everything I hope to be and the best teacher anyone could hope for.

"Will is an excellent teacher and will have you strumming a tune by the time you leave the first night. He is able to translate music theory in many ways and will find a method that works for you. He also is not a clock watcher and many times tends to go long on your time. I have been going to him now for over 2 years and have over 100 songs in my notebook now. Give him a try and you will not be disappointed. Makes no difference what style you want to learn just let him know and your off and running."

"Well hello there budding musician- I started taking ukulele lessons with nearly zero previous experience and little idea what to expect a few months ago. As a teacher, Ian is extremely patient, accommodating, and attentive, but remains very much human throughout the whole process. His years spent teaching across instruments, ages, and levels of expertise make for a trustworthy experience. Definitely recommend."

"One day, I decided to learn ukulele by myself but I became quickly stuck. I found Carolyn on this website and then went to her place to take my first lesson. Carolyn is super sweet; very welcoming, smiling, fun to work with. She is very positive and gives great feedbacks all the time! I learnt a lot during our session!! At some point, we sat at her piano to talk about notes and keys: it was very interesting to switch to another instrument. In addition, her place has very harmonious vibes: when I left I felt so much better!!! I definitely recommend Carolyn for music lessons! And I look forward to our next ukulele lesson!"
