Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. And knows all the secrets that you can only learn by living, and working with some of the best Flamenco artists of today. He can teach you how to accompany singing, and how to accompany dancers. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.

About raphael

Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti

I have been taking Flamenco Guitar lessons with Raphael since I moved to New York. It has been a wonderful experience! There are a few things about him that set him apart from other teachers i have worked with:
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.

My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Nathalie
Raphael has been studying, teaching and performing throughout the United States and Europe with the top artists in the world of flamenco. Coming from an artistic family, he has grown up with the dedication, creativity and passion needed to become the unique musician he is. Raphael's vast knowledge and experience has helped people of all ages and levels of playing to learn, improve and grow.
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

I have few lessons with Keith so far. Keith is a very patient and flexible teacher. He customizes lesson plan accordingly to my level and needs. I have learned a lot in short amount of time. Thank you!

He is the best! It’s been 3 weeks and I’m singing everywhere I go!

Keith is very knowledgeable, patient and methodical. By letting me play a few notes and asking a few questions, he already knew where I should start and had the whole study plan figured out. His lessons are very productive but not in an overwhelming way. After two classes, I actually already feel I've improved significantly. I'm getting more and more comfortable playing to musical notes, which I tried to teach myself several times but all failed. I finally feel I'm on the right track!

"I highly recommend Tony. He has taught both of my sons, Emmet and Connor, how to play the guitar with an emphasis on jazz and rock and learning the fundamentals needed for improvisational play. My eldest son, Emmet, began his guitar lessons in 7th or 8th grade and continued all the way through High School. Emmet commented to me that Tony was a really good teacher for his learning style and made it easy and fun. Emmet continued playing in college and used the fundamentals he learned from Tony to teach himself how to play the banjo. As a River Raft guide he was selected to be the guide on the "folk music" trip so that he could play along with the professional folk guitarist and vocalist. My second son, Connor, had played the saxophone and was in the jazz band in Middle School, and then decided he wanted to learn guitar in High School. He took lessons with Tony all through High School (9th through 12th) and learned all the chords and how to improvise. He enjoyed his lessons with Tony and progressed rather quickly. Tony knows how to teach according to each individual's needs which is very important. He customizes his lessons for students based on their interests and ability levels. He makes the lessons fun and interesting. I highly recommend Tony."

How to Read Guitar Chords

If you're beginning to learn how to play guitar, chances are you'll want to get started by learning a handful of chords. Learning how to read guitar chords is a great way to get familiar with guitar notation and get used to your instrument. A chord is a group of notes that makes a harmony when played all together. On guitar, you can strum chords to accompany a melody that you or someone else are singing, or more advanced players might incorporate chords with single notes for a more complex so …
