Private Saxophone Teacher

Over the course of 10 years teaching experience, I have gained tremendous success teaching saxophone to students young and old. I have taught in conservatories as well as privately, and have refined my methods of teaching the passionate rigor which music demands.

I currently have a private studio where I teach, on 72nd Street in Manhattan. I can also travel to your home. I teach Classical and Klezmer music, to kids and adults who have never played an instrument before, as well as advanced players. I also teach theory.

I am a devoted teacher, and over so many years, I feel what I have to offer my students has grown exponentially. I know how to work with individuals on their own terms, and have a good sense of how my own playing can help inspire and guide my students.

Studying with Naum I not developed my musicality tremendously, while still focusing on technical aspects of playing. He is a patient, inspiring instructor. My little brother (13) studied with Naum for three years and is now playing at a level above many his age. What I appreciate the most about Naum's approach, is his ability to adapt to his student's individual needs and abilities. I always felt my lessons were made for me, and this helped me grow very quickly as a musician. I should also add that Naum is a fantastically talented player, and very moving to hear in concert.

Me and my 12-year-old son started saxophone two years ago together. Ian had a great guide to us who had never played the instrument. My growth is slow due to age issues, (of course satisfied) but my son's growth was great. My son now has a great deal of confidence as a jazz player, and he was able to work on other things positively too. We met Ian then became more into music and jazz. He is patient and will tell you until we can do. Ian is mainly jazz, but he is also very familiar with brass band and classical saxophone too. He is a working musician who do live performance, gig, and compose in various places. He loves music from the heart, his solo is so beatuiful. Ian's lessons has changed our life. We really grateful for giving us his time.

I've been with Mikaela for the past 2 to 3 years, and she's been a wonderful instructor since. I started learning with her after playing the clarinet for about 3 years already- my skills on the clarinet have definitely improved tremendously, and the lessons have given me an edge in all my musical experiences. In addition to being a skillful clarinetist and teacher, she's also very supportive, caring, flexible schedule-wise, and has helped me grow my love for playing and music in general. She has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try new, scary things (auditions, competitions, etc) that have definitely helped me grow as a musician and a person. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a boost in skill, a great teacher, and a wonderful experience. :)

"Out of all teachers and Gleb is the expert in so many ways teaching and applying the lessons to stick and to create a great Saxaphone player. He has so many techniques in his arsenal to make any student become a Saxaphone player and a good one. His patience, his depth of understanding the music and the student and how to apply make it click. He works for the music and for the student rather than anything else. Gleb, please keep on teaching. You aren't just a teacher, you are a music therapist and a professional one of a kind. You know the ins and outs and from my experience with my child I have seen your artful and dedicated work that money cant really pay it. THANK YOU!"

"Playing the sax has been my life-long dream. I remember how once, while watching online tutorials on YouTube, I came across one from Nick, in which he was showing how to play scales – in a very simple way. My gut feeling told me to reach out and communicate exactly with him. He then responded, advised me what instrument to choose, and we started training, which I not in the least regret. I am having classes with Nick online, which may seem a bit more complicated than face-to-face. However, I’m satisfied with the results and, especially, with the teacher’s approach. I am keen on his punctuality, professionalism, advice and recommendations. What’s more, he’s always willing to respond and counsel even beyond the planned lesson. I call him ‘my saxophone guru’! I wish him creative wins and new accomplishments. An absolutely outstanding teacher, that’s who he is! I will be his student as long as time allows. And the wish is there always. Thank you, Nick!"

"Tony is terrific. He's full of enthusiasm for the saxophone and brings a great deal of encouragement and positivity needed when you're starting out. He's also very capable of adjusting his teaching style to reflect the interests and needs of the student. For example, I've got some music reading skill, so Tony adjusted the lessons to reflect that. He and I txt when I have a question during the week. He's always encouraging."
