My mission, is to create a private and educational environment to students of all ages. One that enriches their senses to music, through reading, writing, ear training, performance and technique.

About Nicholas
Nick comes from a family of four generations of music in the GREEK/Balkan repertoire. He graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a concentration in Music Composition in December of 2009. Currently teaching and performing professionally, Nick enjoys all styles of music, but has been declared as an "old soul" by many of his friends. He enjoys playing lots of Motown, funk, and jazz, but is proficient in Classical, Rock, and Blues as well. When not playing music (rarely), he is a Board member for the GivingBackPack Foundation which provides school supplies to underprivileged children. Nick's dedication to education is shown through his music and his personal volunteer hours, he feels his diverse background gives his students an advantage to a broader perspective of music and theory.

I hadn't played the trumpet in 30 years. My first lesson with Nicholas was like starting from scratch. He is very knowledgeable, polite, professional, and definitely patient. I feel that that homework Nicholas assigned was spot on. I'm playing better already after only two days. I would certainly recommend him to a friend.

Nicholas really tailored the lessons to what I needed. They weren't cookie-cutter lessons, and I appreciated that. He answered all the questions I had, and helped me understand some concepts that I never would have gotten just learning online. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.

Nicholas was very patient, took the time to write down information that was helpful (very helpful). Nicholas understood where I was in reference to me knowing nothing about the guitar and he is very knowledgeable with the music trade. He was very clear and kept things simple. I truly enjoy his instructions, can't wait for the next lesson.

Greetings!
I've been teaching ukulele for 15 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to tune the instrument and play easy chords and songs. I typically use Hal Leonard books, as well as Jumping Jim for Uke and various other ukulele books and songs. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels. I can't wait to meet you!

About Judy
Greetings!
Thanks for checking out my lessons. My name is Judy aka Groovy Judy. I'm a guitarist, singer, songwriter and performer. I've been playing guitar for 35+ and teaching private and group lessons for 12 years. I also teach ukulele, beginning electric bass and songwriting. ***Please note - I'm located on the Peninsula, so the areas I serve are: Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood City, Atherton & Menlo Park.***

I work with a lot of kids (as well as adults) and beginners. I'm extremely patient, and I enjoy getting brand new students up and running with proper techniques and good habits. My teaching style/philosophy is to get my students playing as soon as possible in an easy and fun way. I focus on basics such as tuning, rhythm, proper pick technique, strumming, reading guitar tab and/or sh
eet music, and playing songs. I tailor my lessons to the student so it's fun for both of us.

The styles I teach are: rock (classic, indie, punk) folk, pop, reggae/ska funk, blues, r&b, country, some finger-picking, and a bit of classical. I can teach you any song you want to play whether it's rap, rock hip-hop or a piano piece. I will find a way to do it and make it fun. :-)

My style is easy going, but not lackadaisical. I take teaching seriously and do my best to make the student feel comfortable. I give my students weekly assignments that I ask them to complete. However, if a student doesn't work on their assignment, I don't criticize or condemn them. I go over the assignment with them and gently remind them to play and work on the materials I've given.

I love teaching, music, and sharing my gifts with others.

Thanks and I look forward to working with you!
Cheers,
Judy G. aka Groovy Judy

Learn great songs and feel the spirit of a tropical island while you learn. Choose your own songs or I can suggest songs. Let the fun begin!

About Nicole
Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums.
As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State Sch
ool Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master€'s degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music.
Nicole now resides in Tampa, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the singer for a local original rock band. In this band, Nicole writes songs, sings, plays guitar/piano (not all at the same time). Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Full Service music room: Keyboard, Full drum kit, Electric Guitar with 30 watts Amp and Microphone/ vocal monitor.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a 76 key Yahama YPG-235 Keyboard for your household to use for lessons for a small monthly rental fee. I have an Epiphone Electric Guitar with 30w amplifier. Will also bring microphone and monitor for vocal lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I have taught mostly Rock, Blues, and Classical genres for Piano, Guitar, Drums. Vocally, I specialize in R&B, Broadway, Pop, Top 100 and alternative/Hard Rock. I will adapt to your needs.

Our 1st lessons was a disappointment my iPad and laptop are in perfect condition she kept telling us she couldn’t hear us we were like crazy trying to figure out what was wrong on our end but there is nothing wrong with my set up. We wasted a good 20minutes out of the 30 minutes.we used FaceTime on my cellphone instead for approximately 10mins.Before the lesson I told Nicoele that my daughter wants to learn a part of the song Havana she is having trouble with. Nicoele said to just omit that part instead and said that’s easy fix! Really? She didn’t teach her how to learn the part.then she asked my daughter what other songs she is working on and my child she said A million dreams. She let her play for about 2minutes and then said try learning this strumming pattern and jumped to the song You are my sunshine! What the !!! My daughter said Miss Nicoele I really want to learn the Havana song .Nicoele said play you are my sunshine!!!! Really? We lost $27.00 plus the $12.00 placement fee which Frank said he will wave that fee when I enrolled! Very disappointed student. She has a show to attend to on April 10 and never was taught the part of the song Havana that she planned for the day! Waste of money and time! After she hanged up she texted and she said she figured out what was wrong with her computer or set up! She should have credited me a few minutes of what we lost. She told us to find a live teacher or another teacher too before she hanged up the FaceTime!

It is my goal as a teacher to give you the tools to play music but more importantly to create music.

My Teaching Philosophy
The Uke is a wonderful instrument that any style of music can be played on. From pop hits of today to pop hits of the 1920's, classical, jazz and beyond.
We will start by learning all of our chords, strum patterns as well as basic melodies. Then progress into finger picking and "claw-hammer" style of uke playing.

Left Hand-
Scales and arpeggios our the bedrock of music. They are the foundation of everything harmonically and melodically. We will begin with learning our major, minor and pentatonic scales and corresponding arpeggios. Once we have an understanding of those we will delve into our modes and more “exotic” scales.

Right Hand-
The right hand is our time machine. It gives us the ability to play in time and with groove and feel. We will work on rhythmic studies string crossings and practicing with a metronome. Remembering music is ...

By 8 years old, I began training as an opera singer and have merged my love of classical vocals with the therapeutic harp. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Diego State University, with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and am currently in my graduate program at Chaminade University of Honolulu studying to obtain my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. I graduated from the International Harp Therapy Program as a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner and have completed an internship at Apreva Hospice. I love to teach and can make my harp and voice lessons unique to each individual based on their current skill level. I love watching people expand and grow through music. Your lessons will be engaging, compassionate, fun, and organized! Each lesson will encourage you to become excited about your musical growth and inspire you to continue. I offer something unusual for a harp teacher in that I can teach both improvisation and music theory for the harp. This means that you will get the best of both worlds!

Want to learn how to play songs on the ukulele? I can teach you! I'll have you playing a song on your first lesson :)

Let's get started!

About Kevin
Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am looking forward to teaching you everything I know about music! I've been singing at Walt Disney World for over 23 years (and I still am currently) with the Voices of Liberty, the Dapper Dans of Main Street, and Four For A Dollar. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University. Even more than singing, playing the guitar, arranging for a cappella, and playing piano, I love to teach! Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I've wanted to be a teacher of music in various capacities. My favorite aspect of teaching several private students each week is that every individual student has a different story: What is it that you want to accomplish? Would you like to sing, play piano, or play guitar? Would you like training in music theory? Do you want to eventually have a career in m
usic? Will this be a hobby for you? Whatever your goals are, I am excited to know your story.

I have been playing the ukulele for approximately 6 years. Combined with my knowledge of music theory and guitar, I can teach whatever techniques one would be interested in learning on the ukulele. We can explore chord voicings and arrange songs for the ukulele or we can stick to the easier and more well known things such as Somewhere over the rainbow and Mele Kalikimaka :)

About Brandi
My name is Brandi and I am ready to become your guitar teacher! Playing the guitar has been my passion for 12 years and counting. I took talented music classes throughout my high school years and decided that I wanted to pursue music as a profession. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University for music performance and focused on the classical guitar as my primary instrument. I have played many gigs ranging from open mic nights, accompanying a choir, classical guitar ensembles consisting of up to 12 people, and my solo recitals. I also play the electric guitar and the ukulele, with recently expanding interests for electronic music and synthesis.

My goal since graduation has been to make teaching lessons my full time occupation. Building up a studio certainly doesn't happen overnight, so I have come here to expand my availability to t
he internet! As your instructor, I can help you to learn any and all of the things that you want to accomplish on the guitar even if you are a complete beginner. Don't wait to create - we can progress together!

I teach ukulele in various styles. Living and going to graduate school in Hawai`i, I developed an even greater appreciation for the music and the instrument. The ukulele is an important accompanying instrument in Hawaiian music, but it is also a versatile instrument that can be used in various other genres.

If you have experience with ukulele, I will probably ask you to demonstrate your skill level by playing a song you know. If you are picking up the ukulele for the first time, the first lessons will be devoted to learning correct posture and technique, and you will begin playing your first scales, exercises, and open chords. After a few lessons, you will begin to learn to learn your first melodies and repertoire.

After a few weeks, our lessons will likely take two parallel trajectories, playing the lead melodies to songs and playing the rhythmic accompaniment. This will involve learning the scales or collections of notes that make up each song, while also learning the ...

About William
Thank you for visiting my profile and for your interest in studying music! Some of my greatest privileges have been studying and performing with master musicians from around the world in various styles, and I hope to be able to pass on what I have learned over the years.

My history with music

My lifelong love of music began early. Coming of age in the early 90s grunge rock era, I began letting out my teenage angst and adrenalin as a rock, punk, and metal guitarist in high school. While I became interested in jazz and classical midway through high school, the real turning point for me was seeing Leo Kottke play live for the first time. I was greatly inspired by his ability to play melody, bass, and chords all at the same time on one instrument, and it broadened my horizons as to what the guitar was capable of. I promptly went home an
d spent half the night practicing finger-picking and getting my hands to move across the fretboard. Fast forward years later, I devoted my education to the study of music education and classical guitar at the University of Vermont. I have always believed in the value in improving myself holistically as a musician, so in addition to classical guitar, I also studied jazz guitar, classical and jazz piano, performed saxophone in concert band, sang in large and chamber choirs, played in percussion ensembles, and routinely performed bluegrass, Appalachian, and Celtic music with an old-time music group. I am currently finishing a master’s degree in ethnomusicology from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where I have been studying various Asian and Polynesian music traditions from Japan, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Hawai'i. I have also done fieldwork in Japan, studying traditional Japanese koto, shakuhachi, and ichigenkin music. Drawing wisdom from so many places and people I feel has helped me develop strength and versatility as a musician and as an educator.

As part of my undergraduate degree, I worked at Burlington High School in Burlington, VT, teaching and conducting concert band, leading small jazz ensembles, and teaching music theory and composition. I have over ten years of experience teaching private lessons with students ranging from five-year-old beginners to advanced adults; from children with special needs, to non-native-English students. I always develop each day’s lesson and each student's curriculum to fit the needs of each student.

My inspiration and philosophy

Early in my musical training, I studied guitar with Phil Sargent, a phenomenal jazz guitarist in the Boston/greater New England area. In one of our lessons, he detailed his daily practice routine. This involved scales, arpeggios, chord practice, ear training, solo transcribing, repertoire building, and more—all totaling six to eight hours of practice each day. I asked him why he spent so much time practicing, and I will always remember his answer: “to have the ability to play whatever I imagine on stage—to me, that is freedom.” I was awestruck by this seemingly counter-intuitive concept—that true freedom takes a lifetime of discipline. Of course, I don’t ask my young students to practice that much! But I do make it my purpose as a music teacher to gently guide students to developing the discipline to achieve their individual musical goals.

Discipline aside, I am greatly inspired by the power of music to bring people together, to foster passion and creativity in individuals, and to nourish the body and soul. It is my dream to pass on the many music traditions that have inspired me and brought so much meaning and wonder to my life.

If I seem like a good match to help further your musical goals, then I would love to hear from you!

I've had two lessons with Bill now, and they've both been great! I came in already knowing some guitar stuff (like chords and whatnot) but never having studied classical guitar before. Bill was easily able to tailor lessons to my skill level and ability. Both lessons have been fun, and filled with lots of practical tips and techniques that have already improved my playing by lightyears! At first I wasn't quite sure how an online guitar lesson would play out (pun intended), but it actually went really well.
He also suggested several great resources for me to check out as to where to get music to learn and practice with (I'm focusing on Renaissance lute music). Bill is a very versatile player and teacher though, so I'm sure he could coach me in a variety of styles besides Renaissance music. I'm excited for many more lessons!
