Ukulele Lessons in Kissee Mills, MO

I teach many different styles of ukulele playing! From simultaneously singing and playing, to full instrumental arrangements. Also with the incorporation of different genres into our curriculum, lessons will feel very diverse and inclusive to fit each student's needs.

Ukulele - strumming and note playing

I have been teaching ukulele since 2014. I teach in a therapeutic style, using my music therapy training to be as observant, adaptive and flexible as I need to be for the student's benefit. I teach at the student's pace and to their interests, while building their musicality, music theory, and performance skills. I often incorporate singing into ukulele lessons as well. 1-2 times a year, we work towards building a repertoire of 1-4 pieces (depending on the student) to play at a local assisted living facility or skilled nursing facility.

Experienced in teaching ukulele for over 5 years. Experienced in teaching other stringed instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin) for over 30 years.

Joel is an accomplished performer, composer, songwriter, and educator who draws from several pedagogical techniques to create a curriculum that is fun, active, inquiry-based, and student-driven. He is a professionally licensed K-12 music teacher in the state of Colorado with a master's degree in music education who has taught in public schools and privately for 5 years. Work collaboratively to set goals, pick repertoire, and build a strong musical foundation. Come prepared to sing, improvise, analyze, and play.
