I tried to teach guitar in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play lead guitar, or how to finger pick. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

Andrew is really an amazing guitarist and teacher. As a female, at first I was nervous to show up at a "random" male teacher's door, but he made me feel really comfortable right away. I feel I'm really progressing with him, more than I could ever have done on my own.
Thanks Andrew!"

For intermediate guitarists, this scale is essential, but it’s also important to understand that scales are merely the alphabet of the blues language. It's important to go beyond that and play real blues melodies as well, so you can start to better understand …
