I've been teaching guitar for 25 years and my students have gone on to various musical fields of endeavor. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play simple chords and as time goes on you'll be able to play tunes or musical pieces. Every student has different goals ,wants and needs..and it is for this matter that an individual and personal approach is needed to address those musical aspects, which are specifically geared towards their learning the instrument .I use various resources at my disposal: books, cd's, dvd's as well as my many years of experience and knowledge of performing and teaching. I specialize in Jazz and Classical but I'm also knowledgeable in other genres such as pop, rock ,folk etc... For Jazz: I use the Berklee series ,For classical: I use the Matteo Carcassi and Fernando Sor methods .I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.
David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!
About David
David is a successful singer/songwriter/guitarist out of Fairfax, VA. He has a bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Salisbury University, where he also studied jazz and classical guitar . In the 25 years he has been performing (20 of those professionally) and playin

I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.
About Tara
I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, blues, folk, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music a

My philosophy as a teacher is to not only give every student a solid foundation of good technique and practice habits, but to most importantly foster their sense of musicality and expressiveness on the guitar. Having played and been dedicated to mastery of the guitar since the age of 10, I have found that the two greatest joys of playing regardless of skill level is 1. To find your "voice" on guitar and create your own music and 2. Playing and making music with other musicians. I aim to help any player of any age achieve these wonderful benefits by teaching music theory in a fun and practical way alongside developing their technical skills in engaging ways. I still consider myself a student of the instrument even after 14 years of playing and learning many styles, so students will also enjoy learning about (and from!) other great players and musicians as part of their curriculum, giving them an insightful history into the playing of various great guitarists and the timeless music they

Left-handed guitarists of the world unite! When it comes to guitar setup and style, you're kind of in your own world... 1. Some people try to change you... ...but you do your own, awesome, left-handed thing! There is a school of thought that lefties should conform to right-handed ways and learn to play a regular righty guitar. This works for some lefties, like Paul Simon and David Byrne. For other left-handed players, a right-handed guitar can be discouraging and difficult, and switchi …
