Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

"Showing the world there are more songs to play on the uke besides Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I'm Yours, & Riptide."

I have played ukulele for 9 years and spent 3 years in college singing & playing on State Street in Santa Barbara. My teaching style focuses on using tab notation. I think it allows players to be more creative in altering chords & progressions, instead of defaulting to basic ones like "G, D, Am, C."

I still start with basics (depending on experience level) but eventually I move on to unique chords, strumming/percussive patterns, & embellishments that turn the ukulele from a "toy" into a powerful instrument.

About Nico

UC Santa Barbara Grad. I am a singer that took on the ukulele 8 years ago. Over the past 3 years I have played throughout Santa Barbara performing local gigs & busking on State Street. Ukulele Lessons: I like to challenge the preconception that the ukulele is a "toy" and expose people to wh

Welcome to the world of the ukulele! This traditional Hawaiian instrument derived from the Portuguese Machete is a favorite by many for its simplicity and ability to accompany the musician's voice. The ukulele is also a great solo instrument for those who don't like to sing, as it can be played melodically as well. The ukulele is a great instrument to pick up if you have no prior experience in music at all! After your first lesson, you will already be strumming away and playing your first musical notes and tunes!

I will teach you how to unlock your inner musician! In lessons, we will cover everything from musical rhythms, strumming, chords, fingerpicking, musical phrasing, and also my method of learning any piece of music quickly and easily!

Let's learn to make music together! I look forward to guiding you on your musical journey, and I can't wait to start working with you!

It is my goal as a teacher to give you the tools to play music but more importantly to create music.

My Teaching Philosophy
The Uke is a wonderful instrument that any style of music can be played on. From pop hits of today to pop hits of the 1920's, classical, jazz and beyond.
We will start by learning all of our chords, strum patterns as well as basic melodies. Then progress into finger picking and "claw-hammer" style of uke playing.

Left Hand-
Scales and arpeggios our the bedrock of music. They are the foundation of everything harmonically and melodically. We will begin with learning our major, minor and pentatonic scales and corresponding arpeggios. Once we have an understanding of those we will delve into our modes and more “exotic” scales.

Right Hand-
The right hand is our time machine. It gives us the ability to play in time and with groove and feel. We will work on rhythmic studies string crossings and practicing with a metronome. Remembering music is ...
