About Jordan
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile- I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals. I'm excited to announce that I'm now available to teach via Online if you're outside of my teaching radius or are seeking a more convenient alternative.

I'm a professional guitarist with a background in jazz, heavy metal, blues, classical, and bossa nova. In 2006 I graduated from the Berklee College of Music and am lead guitarist for the Atlanta band Axis of Empires.

Whether you are a beginning guitarist or a seasoned professional, I can expand and enhance your playing in any direction you choose. I look forward to getting to know you as a student and learning about what course of study will bring out not only your understanding of music but a musical style that is unique to you.

Having a long time love of all music I hav
e always enjoyed discussing music and educating others on its many aspects. As such I began teaching during summers home from Berklee and found that it was something I had a great deal of talent for. Now, with seven years of teaching experience behind me, I look forward to bringing my skills and insights to students of all ages and bring not only ability on the guitar but a greater love of music to a fresh crop of open minds!!

In addition to guitar, I am also qualified to teach voice, public speaking, dramatic acting, and all aspects of music theory, the latter of which I incorporate into all of my music lessons.

A FEW THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:

1. I am able to take lessons in your home or over Skype. I am no longer accepting lessons in my home.

2. Please only pick one teacher. I don't know why people do this but on more than one occasion I've had students come to me and say "I'm doing lessons with you and this other guy. I figure I can learn different things from both of you." You only need one teacher- if that's not me, I understand.

3. I will NOT remove you as a client on Takelessons so that I can take money under the table from you directly. Sometimes clients will say "the lessons on Takelessons are expensive- is there any way I can just pay you directly?" No, you may not. The amount you are paying is MY specified fee from which Takelessons takes a commission so paying me directly would not save you money. Furthermore, I have a binding agreement with Takelessons not to do this. If you press me on this matter I will discontinue your lessons altogether.

4. Similarly, if you are coming to my profile on Takelessons do not contact me on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media attempting to circumvent Takelessons. Please book through Takelessons and I will be happy to address any questions you may have.

*** Lesson Details ***
Although I follow a specific lesson plan, its important to customize that to each student's skill level and specific needs. Thus, I will spend the first lesson evaluating where the student is in terms of overall musical awareness, existing skill on the instrument, and long term interest.

By the end of the first month, my beginning students will be able to perform basic chromatic and major scales, name the notes on the instrument, and have command of a few basic chords. With these core concepts and regular, committed practice, they will be able to learn and perform songs in a wide variety of styles after 3 to 6 months have passed.

My more advanced students will have a lesson plan customized to their specific goals and desires. In 3 to 6 months with such a student I will have them well on the path to accomplishing their long term goals, whether those be playing, composition, harmonic awareness, understanding of theory, or all of the above.

*** Studio Equipment ***
dedicated music room; cables/amps; electric & acoustic guitars; keyboard

*** Travel Equipment ***
Electric or acoustic guitar as needed.

*** Specialties ***
Having graduated from the Berklee College of Music, I follow their approach in educating the student. In this regard I teach music theory along with the physical act of playing the guitar, which serves to not only enrich the experience for the student but demonstrate how what they are learning is applied to music on the whole.

I am fluent in many genres and specialize in rock, jazz, the blues, and various fusion genres. Because music functions off of the same principles regardless of genre, I can take whatever style the student might best appreciate and structure my lesson plan around it.

Jordan is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. You can find good guitar players that will show you how to play guitar, but Jordan is much more than that and can instruct even veteran players on how to improve their play.

Great Instruction for all levels

I am in my mid-thirties and have never had any formal musical instruction until I started taking lessons with Jordan a few months ago. I was a little nervous about starting the lessons, but Jordan made me very comfortable right away. You definitely can tell he knows music inside and out. He is also very helpful about incorporating just enough music theory into each lesson, so I can expand my knowledge of theory, but not so much that I get overwhelmed. I would definitely recommend Jordan to anyone looking for a great vocal or guitar instructor.

My years of teaching have helped me to understand what it takes to make consistent progress in learning the guitar. My approach is focused on helping the student acquire habits that will aid them in forging solid technique and musicianship, consequently removing limitations to allow access to all the joy that music has to offer.

About Wes
I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are progressing. I find that some students thrive with
a lot of structure and others prefer a looser approach and I am quite comfortable teaching both ways. If the student maintains a consistent practice regimen, they should be able to play songs from the radio within 3 or 4 months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room with an amp, keyboard, computer, desk, parents can sit on couch in a separate room

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my student to provide their instrument (including amp if necessary) and any instructional materials required.

*** Specialties ***
I have had a lot of experience teaching beginning and intermediate students with method books, and have used them to teach reading, theory, technique, and repertoire. Most often, I take a slightly looser approach which I feel allows me to mold my teaching to fit the individual student's needs

I've been teaching guitar for half a decade both privately and through schools. My goals as a teacher are to impart both a thorough understanding of the instrument as well as love for music to my students. I do this by making my lessons fun and tailoring them to each student's interests and skill level. My approach is simple: if my student walks away understanding the material present, I've done my job. If this means I have to explain it in 19 different ways, then so be it!

About Josh
Hi, there! My name is Josh and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2009 and have loved helping my students master an instrument, accomplish their goals, and have a blast learning music. I went to Manhattanville College and earned a BA in Jazz and Classical guitar performance in 2012. I'm a hardworking and dedicated teacher and my teaching style is straight forward, fun, and tailored to you. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

The most important thing to me is to keep the student interested and engaged in the lessons. This way learning guitar is easy and fun, not a struggle. A great place to start is by learning songs you enjoy listening to. Then later moving on, applying theory and scales to the songs we have learned.

About Sam
Hi!
I'm a recent graduate of Berklee College of music where I majored in professional music. This included music theory and guitar instruction, as well as reading and writing music notation and charts in different styles. I also play frequently, including shows at The 9:30 Club, The Howard Theater, Shamrockfest, The Black Cat, Half Street Fairgrounds. and Gaylord National resort.
For the past three years I have been teaching guitar lessons to student of all ages, with excellent results! I always keep the students interested by teaching songs they are excited to learn, while also making sure that they continue to grow as a guitarist and musicians. Lessons can be in Rock, Jazz, or Pop styles, and on acoustic or electric guitar. Music theory is included to the extent that the student and/or parents are interested. Lessons can be at my hous
e or yours.
Thanks!

Most music teachers from stores will give you a very standard non-personalized approach to teaching. My style of teaching focuses on the student's goals and needs. I teach Guitar, Bass, and Ukulele. I also teach songwriting skills, good practice habits, and stage presence/performance tips, the necessary skills required to be an original performing artist that I developed with my own experience pursuing a music career

About Edward
Hello! I'm Edward, a musician of 20 years. Since I was 9 I have learned so much about all facets of music, and I'd like to share my knowledge and experience with you. I've done various things, like performing in bands, performing solo, writing my own songs, composing music, audio production, and much more. I can teach you not only skills on your instrument, but all about what's important about being a musician.

I have been playing and performing for over 30 years. I mainly play Bass, but I can also play Guitar and some Keys. I have played in many bands over the years and I'm currently playing in 4 bands now. I also occasionally do fill-ins. I have worked in recording studios in the past when playing with original bands and artists, and have a small home studio that I currently use for recording music when inspiration hits me.

I'm very flexible about how you may want to set up the lessons. Once I understand what you're looking to achieve, we can build a course of study that fits your schedule and goals. Let's chat and get you started playing music!

I have been playing and performing for over 30 years. I mainly play Bass, but I can also play Guitar and some Keys. I have played in many bands over the years and I'm currently playing in 4 bands now around the Boston Metrowest area. I also occasionally do fill-ins. I gave lessons many years ago after finishing music school and have been working as a Software Engineer by day and playing music at night ever since. I decided to start giving lessons again recently when I was playing a gig, and a guy asked me if he could record a video so he could use it to learn how to play the songs I was performing. I figured I should just offer to teach him with some
hands-on lessons. I really enjoyed doing it and so I wanted to offer lessons to others who might also be interested.

I have been playing guitar now for 22 years. It has been a lifelong passion of mine that I would like to share with you. I like to build lessons based on music that YOU or your child enjoys listening to. I find that this approach much more rewarding and makes the motivation to practice come naturally. Most importantly I want to make sure that learning guitar is fun. Many people buy a guitar learn a few songs with power chords, get bored and then the guitar either gathers dust or ends up in a pawn shop somewhere. I not only want to teach you guitar but more importantly teach you music. I take pride in my ability to nurture passion in music which makes practicing an enjoyment rather than a chore. I will teach you or your child the foundation of music theory, chords, rhythm, scales, soloing, music genres all personalized to you. I can teach anyone from grade school to adulthood. All you need is a guitar and a willingness to learn. I can also teach beginner level piano. I hope to be ...

I am well versed in a wide array of musical genres and can tailor my lessons to your specific tastes and needs while still covering the fundamental techniques, theory, ear training and skills necessary to meet your musical goals.
