The ukulele is a fun way for young or inexperienced players learn to play a string instrument without the tedious and sometimes painful process involved on a guitar or bass guitar. You can learn many skills very quickly on the ukulele, that will eventually translate to the guitar. Reading simple melodies and playing a wide range of chords that fit neatly and comfortably on the ukulele make it a fun and easy first instrument to learn. Can you say Kamakaiwaole?

His flexible teaching style was responsive to my musical growth and interests. As we went, Andy sprinkled in some easy to understand music theory. I learned a lot of my favorite songs (including several out of the mainstream). He worked with me to adapt songs written for guitar to banjo. He also helped me to pick quality instruments that were right for me and my budget.
Highly recommend!

David enjoys teaching ukulele to beginner and intermediate students. Whether you are just starting out or you've been playing for a while, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He teaches chord formations and strum patterns, along with learning specific songs the student would like to learn.
David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

Think you can teach yourself to play ukulele? Music teacher Willy M. shares three reasons why it's important to take lessons and learn about your uke with an expert... A lot of people take a vacation to Hawaii or Florida or somewhere tropical and pick up a starter ukulele as a memento of their trip. They get home to Debuke, Montana, or Bangor, Maine or some other cold place where the people have never heard of a ukulele, and decide to start to learn how to play to remind themselves of t …
