About Marc

I've been playing music since I was 14 years old. I studied classical guitar at State University in Buffalo, NY. and also studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I love just about every style of music. I mostly play Celtic, Bluegrass, American traditional, jazz, and classical. I al

I appreciate Marc’s knowledge, professionalism, and teaching methods. I also appreciate his practice of social distancing and mask wearing. He was thorough, good-humored, and patient during my lesson.
Roger H.
He is very good with me. I'm not a very good student. I have bad habits and I'm overly sensitive to criticism, yet he has not made me feel bad at all about my playing if you want to call it that. I also have a short attention span and can't read music fluently. But his patience is much appreciated, and each week get a little better at it all. I recommend him to those trying their best to sound a little better.

It was really good information and I had a lot of fun.

I am an experienced session player of about 5 years, specializing in classic rock, jazz, blues and pop! I have been playing guitar for 11 years and was self taught up until I studied music theory and performance at Los Angeles Pierce College. There I also played in the jazz ensemble and was a part of the choir where I played in multiple student concerts on and off campus, including at USC. Since then I have played lead and rhythm guitar in many bands around LA and released one album and two singles. My favorite artists include Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty and Talking Heads. I like working with people who are eager to learn and willing to ask questions to make sure they get what they want out of my lessons.

About Jacob

I’ve been playing guitar for about 11 years. I started out self-taught and decided to take it a step further in college with theory classes and playing in the jazz band. I grew up on classic rock, (Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Jackson Browne) and nowadays I like to keep up with indie rock

I am available for private lessons at my studio in Center City Philadelphia, as well as online lessons. I work with students of all ages and levels, including beginners.

Teaching is a passion of mine and I truly enjoy helping students of all levels achieve their musical goals.

I don’t apply a singular approach for each student, because every student has their own strengths and weaknesses. As lessons continue, I pay close attention to how a student learns and picks up on new information which I use to guide me in choosing the most effective strategies going forward. Depending on the level, lessons can range from reading music, developing and improving technique, and understanding the music to allow for informed musical choices.

While I will always have suggestions regarding the choice of repertoire, I think it’s very important for the student to be playing music that they personally enjoy and will be motivated to practice. With beginners I do encourage a more structured approach,

"I've been with Paul for about 3-4 months. I came to him having a minor in music and a lot of guitar under my belt, but frustrated with my consistency. I did a check in on my abilities recently and I'm able to play pretty much any song in the real book now after 1 or 2 tries. This is great, especially because I don't feel like I'm working that hard. So yeah he's great. I recommend him."

"I have taken one lesson so far with James, with many more to come hopefully. James has been nothing but motivational to get my guitar and singing to the next level. It seems he truly wants to see each and every one of his students succeed and believes that if we tell ourselves that we're the best, that we might just become the best. I am extremely optimistic that my playing is going to dramatically improve from James' lessons as after only one lesson I have learned more than I have self teaching myself over the past year!

I am really looking forward to my next lesson...James is great to work with. Very personable, and a very nice guy. Can't wait till Tuesday!"
