Intro to chords, tablature and simple strumming patterns, singing while playing, basic music theory and reading charts, lead sheets, tablature and more.

About Cosima
My specialty is voice but I also teach acoustic guitar, ukulele and songwriting for the student who desires to develop their own style and create their own songs. Not only is it fun but the music education that comes with it is highly valuable for future musicians. (guitar and ukulele rentals available at an additional cost to the student)

For students who are just beginning their vocal journey or are busy performers who want to improve healthy technique and sing with more confidence; or perhaps a worship leader or backup singer is struggling with vocal strain, my goal is to help them find vocal freedom and maintain an amazing, healthy voice that will confidently meet their expectations, year after year, in every situation, every time.

As an active performing vocalist, musician, songwriter, and Christian worship artist and band lea
der, I understand the demands and challenges of a busy performance calendar, singing sets for back-to-back audiences day after day and week after week, and the need for a vocalist to find the vocal freedom that will produce confidence in their voice no matter what the venue.

The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience.

Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! Vocal freedom is within reach and most students experience a measure of it within the few first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their range in their first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating the study of good vocal technique and working on songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each student learns with material that will be divided into step-by-step doable lessons so they can be sure to learn the best techniques and material along the way. Sheet music and lesson books are provided at a minimal additional cost.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My home-studio is bright and open and set up with an upright piano, full length mirror, music stand, iPad with appropriate applications, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and computer for recording and playback. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or wait for their children in the adjacent room. I also may provide a follow-up email which includes any recordings and lesson notes from the current lesson.

As the student progresses I also provide a PA system to teach mic technique and build performance confidence.

I ask that students come prepared with the following items to their lessons.
~ Bottled water
~ A ring binder with paper for notes and a zippered pouch to keep tools and handouts.
~ A flash drive for recording transfers or they can use their phone or other recording device to record their lessons.
~

*** Specialties ***
I honestly love my students and love teaching! It's such a privilege to be a part of their musical journey. I specialize in church worship vocals, choir, a capella, show tunes and musical theater. I teach free, healthy vocal technique which enables each student to explore and focus on different styles of singing. I also love teaching young voices especially teens who want to have a good time learning to sing.

NOTE ~ My teaching style is more structured therefore some young children may not be ready to take lessons with me.

I had Cosima for a few months and I saw a change in my voice. Not only did she help me improve my voice but she was able to explain it in a way that I could understand the fundamentals of how singing happened. I had a song that I wanted to sing for my sisters wedding and if she didn't help I probably wouldn't have sang. I would like to say thank you to Cosima for helping me understand singing/vocal world. I was so new to it even though I have been singing from young age. She was able to help find my struggle in singing and we worked at it as much as possible to improve it. My chest voice and bridges definitely got better then what they were when I first started taking lessons with her. I have learned a lot and I have seen a difference in my voice. I'm really happy and blessed that I was able to have Cosima as my teacher. I greatly appreciate her teaching me. I recommend her as a great singing teacher.

Ukulele students start with five subjects.

1) Technique is concerned with the development of the physical mechanics involved in playing the instrument.

2) Scales are a part of basic music vocabulary and building blocks of the musical language.

3) Chords are also basic vocabulary of the musical language.

4) Note reading is not required for every student. It really depends on the students' goals. However, I strongly encourage everyone learn to read musical notation, (more than tablature). Literacy in reading music is analogous to literacy in reading in our English language. Can you imagine how much smaller our world would be if we couldn't read?

5) Songs utilize the skills and concepts of all the previously mentioned subjects and are the goal of studying music. The student chooses what songs they want to play, guided by my suggestions; Jazz, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, R &B - "How deep is the ocean, how high is the sky?"

A beginning student will practice ...

About Phillip
I teach music. The guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele just happen to be the particular instruments I choose. Music as a language, discipline, and art, is the goal. I've been teaching, performing, studying, composing, for some thirty years. I've studied and gigged in the classical, jazz, rock, blues, R & B, and country idioms. I've taught composition and improvisation to instruments other than guitar, (vocalists, fiddle, sax, piano, trumpet) I've taught all ages and levels. I currently pursue a doctorate of music in guitar at university. Students learn many things when studying with me. They learn physically how to play a particular instrument while learning music as its own language. Students learn how to learn, learn self-discipline, and access their musical expression, all potential life changing experiences. I am happy and
excited to announce I am available for on-line lessons, and will now be able to work with students from all over the world, regardless of distance or location!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am laid back, but at the same time very goal directed. I like to do technique and/or vocabulary, note reading, and songs every lesson. After six months students are able to to 'jam', (improvise over chord changes such as the blues). They are well on their way to becoming literate, probably a third way through the first book. They probably can play a half dozen songs well, and are starting to strum (comp) chord progressions in a musically rhythmic way. They may even have played in a couple concerts by then.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Office studio w/ guitar, bass, amps, and seating for parents, computer with skype capability.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my guitar and writing tools, extra picks, extra paper etc. Students provide their own instrument, method book, staff paper, notebook paper. Hopefully they have a music stand and their own guitar picks and other items relevant for the study of their instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, jazz, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, theory/composition, improvisation

Classical and Suzuki options - starting Suzuki students as early as 3 yrs old. Teaching Suzuki Books 1-11.
Beginners, intermediate and advanced levels
I am using classical method books including Kayser, Wohlfart, Kreutzer, Mazas, Dont and Paganini Caprices with students looking for more rigorous studies and more advanced skills.
Keeping music and technique in balance - Learn how to enjoy performing - Find your own highest potential - Fall in love with music

*** Lesson Details ***
I am friendly and like to inspire my students to find their own best potential. Suitable challenges are fun and needed to keep the personal progress going on. "No suffering in my studio!" means that the process of learning needs to be enjoyabl
e but at the same time I am asking the students to give their best effort. Setting frequent goals in form of group classes and recitals keeps us in full sail and teach us to enjoy the act of playing both alone and in front of friendly audience.
I teach both classical and Suzuki methods. I like to keep my students musically well fed and encourage exploring music reading and music theory next to practical skills. I stir my students toward high standard personal level in their studies, an ingredient from Finnish cultural climate.

*** Specialties ***

I just completed my first lesson with Elisa. I felt so good at the end of the lesson. As an adult learner, I am often uncomfortable with my beginner skill levels and end up feeling embarrassed and apologetic when working with a teacher (silly I know). But she did not make me feel this way at all.

She quickly assessed where I was with my playing and identified quick and easy technical practices to enhance my technique as well as took in my own personal goals. I feel super motivated to practice and look forward to my next lesson with her. I'm so glad I found her!

A simple and fun instrument to learn. In just a few short lessons you'll be playing like a pro

About Ken
I've been playing music my whole life, but it was as a high school student when I was asked to teach the school's guitar class that I became a teacher. Since that time I've gone on to earn several awards, played in many different types of projects, and earned a Master's degree. You might have heard my music before too if you've ever listened to a podcast, TV commercials, Indy films, or played any video games. My most successful student thus far however, would have to be Jacob Tilley from the rock band Young the Giant.

Not everybody wants to be a rock star though, and there are many aspects to the world of music. During the course of my musical adventure I've played with orchestras, been in rock, bluegrass, reggae, pop and blues bands, classical ensembles and more. I have also had the opportunity to play for celebrities and diploma
ts. Basically I've done a little of everything and I believe that it is this diversity of experiences that makes me a better teacher. Having worked in so many settings gives me a broad understanding that I use to help you reach whatever goals you might have.

I have also become adept at writing, recording and producing music, studying under Frank Wright of the legendary rock band Chicago. If you have an interest in creating and/or recording music I can definitely help you get there! Check out my chill/downtempo instrumental album 'Night Music'.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can teach you about playing several different instruments, how to write, how to record your own music, and how to get your music career off the ground! As a youth, I was largely self-taught so my inspiration was always to have fun. I never had to deal with the 'homework' style of practicing so I've naturally incorporated that approach to my lessons. My goal is to keep you (the student) inspired and having fun. When that happens you will become good at your instrument and feel as though you 'played' your way to success! As your teacher I will also provide almost all of the materials for free and show you great free apps to help you along with your learning and keep costs to a minimum! I know we will have fun together while you learn and I look forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, piano/keyboard, drums, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and a ProTools recording studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide the learning materials but I expect the student to have their own instrument, be that a guitar, drum set, etc.

*** Specialties ***
Commercial music is definitely my specialty, but I am also capable of doing various styles such as classical, bluegrass, traditional/folk. Just focus on what you want to learn and I can teach it to you.

I have been taking banjo lessons from Ken for 5 months. As an adult learner, I was concerned about finding the right person to take lessons from, and Ken has been wonderful. He paces our lessons well so I don't feel too overwhelmed. He is proficient in the banjo and other instruments so I'm getting well-balanced instruction. He is also very flexible with my schedule and adapts our lessons based on my progress. Ken really does deserve all of these 5-star recommendations.

Ukulele is the instrument I learned with my heart; When I was in college, I noticed how some other guys would attract an audience of women by playing their guitars at parties and social gatherings. I thought I could one-up them all by playing what looked like a guitar... but cuter!

After teaching myself a few Beatles tunes I amassed my own audience of co-eds, among them the woman who would later become my wife. My decision to learn how to play a ukulele was one of the best of my life, and has improved my disposition many times over. I very highly recommend the ukulele as a vehicle for making friends and increasing one's attractiveness.

About Kevin
Clarity and expression come to us in different forms and are meant to be used to interpret all the many sources of inspiration which surround us, from the benign and painful to the sublime and beautiful. Teaching my students to tap into their personal creativity and inventive methods will enable them to utilize their instrumental techniques in a way which is invigorating and communicative. With this, I hope to foster lifelong musicians who can use their inventiveness to surmount any and all of life's many challenges.

They will learn how to read music and chord charts, as well as sing along with the ukulele, if they wish. Lessons will be created based on the student’s goals.

About Krista
I am a piano, voice, and acting teacher with an MFA in Music Education. I studied acting with Suzanne Shepherd, Larry Silverberg, and Karen Giordano in their private studios in New York City. I've had extensive teaching experience, both privately and with public school students from all ages K-12 and adults as well. While my main instruments are piano, voice, and ukulele, I've taught band and strings for many years, so I can help your beginning band students on the basics of any band or string instrument (except percussion-not my forte). I personalize my lessons toward the student to make it fun for them while also expanding into new territories to stretch them and help them grow. You have a fun and patient teacher in me. Together we will work toward your goals in a way that is fun and inspiring. If you would like a time that you do

Want to have play songs for your friends, learn to jam, or even play in a band? It's really easy!

We'll focus first and foremost on discovering what will make practice fun for you. Once practice is fun, then improvement becomes playful (and much faster).

In your first lesson, we will uncover your goals and markers for success, then build a custom plan to get you there (with or without additional lessons).

About Benjamin
Practice is the highest pursuit of humanity.

I have been playing music for 20 years, Teaching for 10. My primary instruments are Ukulele and Guitar, and I love helping people come out of their shells with improvisational singing.

Through my life-long studies of Music, Kung Fu, Dance, Psychology, and Personal Development, I have come to the realization that every moment of every day we are practicing something.

The key to a life of satisfaction then is to ensure that we are practicing the skills that align with our Values, instead of simply robbing us of time. If we can do it joyously, then we have discovered one of the keys of life.

My personal Values include Evolution, Practice, Freedom, Fun, Connection, Wisdom, and Flow.

My teaching approach is relatively simple; I work to empower you to approach and play your own instrument through rhythm, moderate music theory, as well as fretboard theory and picking/plucking styles. I also like to do practical application studies, i.e., using songs you're interested in learning to apply new techniques.

Most importantly, we progress at your pace and yours alone. If there's something very specific you'd like to accomplish, we can most certainly do that, or if you want to improve upon your general approach and method, that is also something I am available for.

Hi, I'm Tyler! Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, I am the son of a band director. That being said, I have literally been involved in music since I was an infant! I played trombone, bass trombone, and bass guitar all the way through high school, and went to New Mexico State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music, and then moved to Los Angeles, California, where I received my Master's Degree at California Institute of the Arts, where I also learned to play the other brass instruments, as well as composition and arranging.

Throughout my career, I've been able to do some great things with music. I have been able to travel Europe and work with one of the world's finest brass instrument manufacturers, Michael Rath, I have toured Colombia with my University's Wind Ensemble, I've recorded at Capitol Records in Hollywo
od, and have written and premiered numerous works for orchestra and rock ensemble, trombone choirs, and even a duet for quarter tone trumpets!

I have an affinity for modern and avant garde music, but am well-versed in all genres and musical styles! I also like to play in and record rock and roll bands, I've amassed a quite a few years of recording experience as well. From gypsy bands to thrash metal groups, I've recorded a wide array of music.

I also taught in the classroom from grades k-12 for a few years before following my true passion of teaching privately. I love to reach you at your own level and work to grow with you from there.

My goal is simple: I simply want you to come to love music as much as I do, if not more! I strive to give you the tools to become a successful musician in your own right, and I work to keep my lessons fun and engaging.

I feel like I learned a lot in an hour and he really helped me find an anchor point that I can go back to if I am stuck on a note. I realized that he went over every proven method that I learned throughout my experiences from elementary school to highschool and then added on to them by explaining how these methods help. He even showed me methods usually taught to college musicians.

The reason I always believed in private lessons is because no matter how few or how many you take, the learning process gets expedited immensely.

I definitely would recommend this teacher for learning a brass instrument.

Tyler was my 14 year old daughters instructor in both piano and guitar. We loved him! He's fun and keeps the student interested and engaged in learning. I can't believe how much she's learned in just a short time.
