As with any instrument or art, you have to start somewhere and put work into. There are no shortcuts. However, a good instructor can quickly recognize what you wish to learn, zone in on those areas, and most importantly allow you the desire to keep play more. This type of guidance is the “shortcut”. For myself, I have 18+ years playing electric/acoustic guitar I have also attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA playing with other musicians and learning from the best instructors.

Beginner level: we have to start with positioning of you fret and pick hand. You can change a bit of this up later. To start, I might hear you play something: one note, a melody, or a riff just to see where you’re at. Starting from scratch? That’s perfectly fine.

We will work on two aspects: working towards playing single note melodies and strumming/learning basic chords. I would encourage learning the latter as pretty much all contemporary songs can be accompanied by rhythm guitar. Changing ...

"Guitar Instructor

I decided to re-kindle my guitar playing skills after putting down the instrument for several years and not knowing what results to expect. I was amazed to find my ability to play quickly returning while taking lessons with Dennis. He was patient, encouraging and always professional and courteous. I am now practicing every day and continue to progress. I would encourage anyone seeking a skilled and talented instructor to sign up with Dennis. He has versatility with many different styles of playing and accomplished at them all."

"Justin has been teaching my 14 yr old son guitar for the last month. He has such an easiness to his personality that he has quickly developed a great connection with my son. His love for music is genuine and I can tell it is spreading to my son. He is encouraging and friendly but still maintains reasonable expectations for commitment and practice. I couldn't be happier with Justin. I would totally recommend him."

"Don is a fantastic teacher, and not just for beginners but for experienced players as well!
I've been playing guitar for about 20 years, but haven't taken any formal lessons in the past 15 of those. I felt like I was in a rut with my playing so I started taking lessons with Don a few months ago. He was able to immediately help me improve my technique and help me correct some inefficiencies that I didn't even notice I was doing. Don has a great way of showing that there are multiple ways to play the instrument and not one specific "right" and "wrong" way.
I feel like I've made more progress in the last 4 months than I had in years."
