Hello! I have been teaching privately for 4 years on both the violin and viola. Although my primary instrument is viola, I started on the violin at a young age and went through most intermediate music and into the advanced stages of repertoire. I teach through a traditional method, meaning I pull from many different resources to tailor each lesson to a student's needs.

About Kathryn

Hello! I teach both the viola and violin, with the viola being my primary instrument. Teaching music is my greatest passion. Ever since I picked up my first violin, I knew that playing music was going to be my career. I went to school to accrue the knowledge that I needed in order to teach those wh

What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle? Some say it just depends on who is picking up the instrument . . . others might say a violin has strings while a fiddle has "strangs." But if you're looking to play a hoedown, a breakdown, a sweet and heartfelt waltz, or an old-timey reel, then you're looking for some FIDDLE lessons . . . and I am just the person to deliver! I've been a performing bluegrass fiddler since 2003 and have helped many students discover the joys and satisfaction of fiddling. See my profile under "fiddle" for more information.

About Julie

I've been performing as a fiddler in bluegrass bands since 2003, and have absolutely loved my own journey as a musician! A lifelong musician, I started on viola at age 9 and played in school orchestra through high school and on into college, even as I earned my degree in secondary English Education

Julie is absolutely wonderful! She’s extremely patient and very talented. I was only able to take fiddling lessons for a relatively short amount of time (less than a year) but I feel that I walked away with an excellent start. Can not recommend enough!
Jennifer
Julie is an amazing fiddle teacher! It is intimidating to take lessons as an adult and she made me feel very comfortable from day one. She is fun and has a laid-back, warm personality. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn fiddle!

I have been teaching violin since 1998. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

"Omer has taught swing, Gypsy swing and jazz violin at my Gypsy Jazz Weekend retreat since it's inception in 2013- he is by far the most sought after instructor, and his students consistently praise the unconventional approach that makes both Omer's music and his teaching exciting. He's a pleasure to work with as well."

"I’m an adult learner of violin with a full-time work schedule that frequently goes over 45 hours during slow weeks. I’ve never been what many would musically talented, but the desire to learn an instrument has always been there. Like a lot of people with a full-time schedule and trying to advance their career, it’s hard to carve out time for extracurricular hobbies. On a whim, I decided to learn violin and bought one from Amazon. I quickly realized I was out of my depth. I went looking for an instructor and found Ha-eun on Take Lessons.

She’s a fantastic instructor because she’s always willing to take time to answer questions, change the lesson plan to fit what the student’s needs at that time, and focus on the basics while learning how to play music. There is a lot to know when playing violin and it can feel quite overwhelming. Ha-eun broke down some of these big overwhelming chunks into small comprehensible sizes. There is an art in teaching an instrument without making the process frustrating, and she actively tries to make learning how to play violin easy on the student. The violin is a difficult instrument, especially when you realize there is no frets on it. I think Ha-eun does an excellent job and recommend her as an instructor."

"Hi, Three of our children took violin lessons with Cara Arnold for 4-5 years. She was an amazing violin teacher. She understood how to tailor her lessons to each individual child and was adept at finding music pieces that were challenging but also fun for the kids to learn. She has an enthusiasm for violin that she shared with our children and was always encouraging to them- but was also able to toe the line or ask for more when needed. I highly recommend her as a violin teacher. She is thoroughly knowledgeable in her subject and has years of experience with all ages. She also completely enjoys her job and it shows."

"Miriam-Rose is one of the best teachers I know. I am also an experienced teacher and have studied violin pedagogy with professors at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and at the Jacobs' School of Music at Indiana University, and I can highly recommend Miriam-Rose as someone who's teaching methods and approach are on par with the standards of these prestigious institutions. Her experience with kids and her Scottish Fiddling make learning with her lots of fun. Great instructor, you can't go wrong!"
