About Michelle T.

Your private lessons come with EssentialElementsInteractive (free). You will be able to submit assignments, questions, and practice log-free with your book. You must purchase the book's essential elements for strings. After you purchase your lessons an amazon wish list will be provided. I specialize in teaching strings; violin, viola, cello, upright bass. I teach ages four and up. If you can tie your shoes you can play the violin. I use the "Essential Elements for Strings", "G'DAE", and Suzuki curriculum. Every lesson begins with an evaluation. Your lessons might include how to hold your instrument and how to avoid injuries, tips on how to practice on your own, how to mark music, how to play scales, and bow technique. These are my top priorities. Lessons should be fun, and you should enjoy them more and more each time. That is why I teach not only classical music but current popular music. I like to hear the students' opinions and see their reactions when they play songs they can recognize. Technique and posture are taught, but it is in a fun safe environment. I also teach that it is okay to make a mistake. There is no judgment in my class, and if you need more time or more help, that is what you get. I have gotten students into youth orchestras, community orchestras, and college orchestras. Ask about audition prep!

Take Lessons
Teaching online lessons for 5 years now and private lessons for 14. There was a learning curve for teaching online. I learned I needed a lot more props and to be very animated. I love teaching online. This allows me to enjoy my mornings teaching as well as juggling being a mom and spending time with my family. Without an online platform, it would be very difficult for me to continue teaching as studios are not open in the mornings. I also teach evenings but prefer to keep my weekends free.
