I have been playing since age 4 and teaching privately for 13 years.

A one hour lesson includes 10 minutes scales, 15 minutes etude or exercises and 35 minutes piece. I teach sizuki method up to book 6 or whenever the student wants to switch over to concertos

I recommend sitt scale book and kaiser etudes.
I like to have my student write his/her own exercises until really comfortable reading music

Students can expect a relaxed, fun, and encouraging atmosphere for learning. The violin can be an intimidating instrument- you will make a lot of unpleasant sounds before you start sounding great- and that's okay! I'll be there to guide you and help you reach your goals.

If you're already an experience player, you can expect me "workshopping" your technique. We will analyze your form, practice patterns, and playing style, to ensure that you are growing and improving from the moment we begin. I will push you to become the most expressive player that you can become, but at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What young students can expect:

- Preparing for entry into school orchestra
- Polishing up school orchestra repertoire
- Learning new material and scales
- Perfecting their technique
- Preparing for NYSSMA
- Preparing college audition tapes (I do have the ability to record these as well)
- Learning to play with confidence
- Learning vibrato

I teach violin at the New School for Leadership and the Arts, mostly to novice players, and I have experience teaching violin to children of all ages.

My primary instrument is guitar, which I've played for about 25 years in many different bands, styles, and genres. I studied music and classical guitar at University of Central Florida, and during that time I also helped teach violin to a class of third graders. I'm not a pro violinist, but I have plenty of experience working with novice players, helping them develop proper technique, sight reading, ear training, and other skills needed to advance to the next level.

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums. I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is wh

I began teaching violin lessons during my time at La Mirada High. Individual lessons are an important part of improving any skill, especially in music. I will offer an extra set of eyes as well as some insight I have on my years playing the instrument. In these violin lessons, I’ll incorporate theory into the applied aspect. Understanding theory will allow for students to be able to sight read and perform music at first glance. I am motivated to help you or your child improve to catch up, get ahead, prepare for competitions, or polishing up.

About Tracy

Groups I've played with include the Dana Point Symphony, Symphony Irvine, and the St. Luke Symphony.

"Jessica started teaching my son in Feb 2014, just after he turned 5. He told me that he wanted to play an instrument and chose the violin, so we went online and found Jessica here and on the Suzuki website. Her experience and reviews really stood out and I can tell you from our personal experience that every word is true. She is the most patient, kind, fun, engaging, and positive teacher you could ask for for your child. And on top of it all, she is an excellent violinist herself who really understands music and how to explain it.

My son has come a really long way and he is very proud to be able to play the violin! He is not always the easiest to work with, (some days his favorite word is 'no'!) but she really encourages him when he gets frustrated and I know she is a big part of why he has come so far.

One of the things I love about Jessica is her ability to adapt seamlessly to the needs of her students. She is flexible and able to adjust what she does to take advantage of her students' strengths and gradually improve their weaknesses and doesn't just stick to one way of teaching. She is also incredibly accessible if you have questions or need guidance and always stays in touch, even with her busy schedule.

After a few months of my son taking lessons, we even decided to hire her for an extra half hour so that I could get formal instruction too. I am 39 and never seriously played an instrument before (1 year of elementary school clarinet, notwithstanding) yet she can go right from teaching my 5 yr old to working with me without missing a beat. I feel like she brings out the best in her students and I see concrete improvement in my own skills and understanding every week and can't believe how far I have come in only a few months with her.

So bottom line is whether you are 5 or 50 and no matter your experience level, if you are looking for a violin teacher, I highly recommend hiring Jessica immediately"

"I started working with Alyssa in person when she was teaching violin in Salt Lake City. Once she moved to Los Angeles I agreed to try the online lessons. I have found this method of learning to be very valuable. Alyssa has a unique way of teaching. While the traditional principles of violin playing are taught Alyssa includes mindfulness and breath in her methods. She also introduces improvisation and takes music beyond its notes on the page."

"I really have loved taking lessons with Tigran N. I just began this year with him after completing a masters in music from a private college. I have learned so much already. I leave each lesson wanting to work harder and the best part is that he gives me great tips on exactly HOW to practice so I can get the most out of my practice time. It's been a great experience and I am so thankful for the way he challenges me and gives helpful criticism so that I can become a better violinist."

It is difficult to learn anything at the age 40, specially a musical instrument, but she made it comfortable and easy to understand.
