I began violin at the age of 12. I was immediately in love with it at 11 after hearing my best friend play for our school band. After traveling to Branson, MO, I returned home with my first violin just after turning 12. I played in my many youth orchestras including the Bloomington Youth Symphony, Terre Haute, Columbus and my highschool orchestra. I teach Suzuki style using a variety of method books. I teach ages 5 and up. Learn proper bow hold. Violin requires good intonation and solid technique both of which I ensure each of my students follow from the beginning.

My teaching is a combination of Suzuki Method, ABRSM pieces, and Traditional Method. I used fingering, bowing exercises or etudes for the pieces to make it easier to play.

I am very sincere and sensitive to my students because every student is unique and it is very important that you have to connect with them. I teach by heart and provide what they wanted to achieve in violin playing and so its worth and satisfying.

All of my students will learn how to play well with good intonation and proper posture. Students can choose to play their favorite pieces for fun, either Classical or Pop music . We can also enjoy some duet pieces.

Violin playing is fun but it involves patience, discipline, PRACTICE and determination. Lesson can be held in West Valley Music depending on the studio's room availability. Give me your availability and i will try to fit you in.

First and foremost, it is so important for me to get to know you and your musical interests (favorite songs, artists or bands). Once I know a little bit more about you and where your musical interests are, I help you build goals based on what you’d like to accomplish...that could be anything from “just wanting to learn something new and to have fun” to “playing my sister’s favorite song at her wedding in 3 months” or “to join an orchestra and make it my professional goal”. My style of teaching over the last 25 years incorporates technique, reading music, ear training, and improvisation. In addition to the violin, I teach viola, cello and piano/keyboard. The genres I love to teach are classical, rock, pop, jazz, film/tv music, and fiddle!

We will work on technical skills, hand placement, music reading, ear training, and rhythmic understanding. Before long, we will be playing the songs that YOU want to learn. I have two graduate degrees in Music Performance. I have taught this subject for over twenty years. I have played as a regular substitute violinist with the Seattle Symphony.

I have been playing violin for 18 years and have 3 years of teaching experience. I'm currently finishing my undergraduate degree at the New England Conservatory studying with Miriam Fried. My goal as a teacher is to create a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment and to cater to the needs of each individual student. Whether it's preparing for an audition, recital, or just for fun, I want to help students achieve their personal goals while making the experience enjoyable and inspiring. I hope to work with you!
