Wonderful!

Samantha D. is wonderful. My kids play so well for only 1 year'sworth of lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone! I am blownaway by the music that comes out of the Piano from a 7 and 11 year old.My 11 year old signed up for her first music competition at school. Ifyou told me one year ago I would have girls playing a piano, I would notbelieve you. I truly thought they would quit after a couple of months. Not the case. They are musically talented and still love it. Thanks toSamantha D! They are now thriving in the in-school music program.Thank you, TakeLessons, for filtering out the best teachers. When achild has a small window of interest, you have to grab it the rightway...the wrong teacher would not have given me these results.

My granddaughter, Katelynn, enjoys her trumpet lessons with Samantha. Samantha is caring, seems to enjoy teaching & has patience; which is needed since Katelynn needs a little extra attention learning things

Highly Recommend her!

My daughters (10, & 6) have only had three lessons with Samantha! They love it. Her nature is kind and welcoming. She can tell how much they can handle so doesn't overwhelm them with too much theory or pieces to play. She strikes a nice balance. My 10 year old started composing her own song when she became bord with the beginner book! Samantha has added to this excitement and changed her teaching style to match my daughters learning style. My daughter was beaming! Samantha has taught her how to take the next pieces of theory and add it to her song. She also ordered music my daughter enjoys like Selena Gomez. My 6 year old is excited every week and doesn't want to be late. My husband and I thought this would be just another thing to start and quit. So far they are going strong!

I was lucky to take lessons with Marisa for two years during my undergraduate music degree at CU Boulder. Not only is Marisa a wonderful and knowledgeable violinist, she is a intuitive and warm teacher. Marisa took my musicality to the next level and helped me develop proper, tension-free technique. Marisa's advice helped me to practice more effectively on my own, and I always felt inspired after our lessons. I would highly recommend Marisa as a teacher for violinists of any level!
Kylie
Dr Marisa has been teaching me for three years now. She is very good at explaining the pieces, and giving a short history lesson about how it was developed. This helps me learn and memorize the piece faster for recitals and performances. Despite the setbacks of COVID-19, she has still continued being an excellent teacher for me.
Kendalia
Throughout my entire music experience, Marisa is one of the best violin teachers I've ever had. She taught me how to listen and improve the sound I was producing, correct my bow hold, overcome my performance anxiety, and much more. I would highly recommend Marisa, no matter what your experience is with the violin.

My teaching style corresponds based on the student's needs. Each lesson will focus on developing his/her techniques, applying them in pieces, as well as learn theory as we go through the pieces together. My number one focus on a student is their basics as it is the fundamental core of learning the violin. I have a detailed step-by-step plan that will guarantee the improvement of the student which will then allow him/her to be able to play any piece! (with consistent practice, of course!)

Welcome to my violin and viola studio! I believe that every student can enjoy the process of studying an instrument, and can learn to play with ease and joy. As a result, I work to determine each student's learning style, look for ways to encourage individual ownership of learning, and adapt my approach to help meet each student’s needs and goals. I teach both Suzuki and traditional lessons, and draw from a variety of musical styles and approaches to help students develop a broad range of skills that include a strong technical foundation, ear training, sight-reading, ensemble playing, and musical self-expression. Through this approach, I hope to help students develop a lifelong love for music that will serve them in all future endeavors, musical or otherwise.

Mary is also very attentive to your needs and your development as a student. She knows when to allow for the errors that a beginner like myself will make, and when to present challenges that will push you, and show you that your skill and talent are growing. She also gives homework assignments that will help you grow your talent when you're in between lessons, which I really appreciate. I absolutely recommend Mary to anyone wishing to take music lessons!"

The Importance of Playing Duets

There are tons of benefits to playing duets, whether it's with another violinist or another instrument altogether. Read on as Washington DC music teacher Kaushik S. explains...     Duets/duos are an integral component of comprehensive music training. In covering the importance of duets in learning music, there are two primary types that will be covered. First, it is important to be able to perform with another person playing the same instrument. What Is Violin Purfling? & Other Violin Parts You Didn't Know About?

I’m sure we are all familiar with the basic look, shape and sound of the violin. After all, violins have been around for over 400 years, and you simply make beautiful music by drawing the bow over the strings and moving your fingers! Right? Well, if only it were that simple.  When I meet a new, beginner student for the first time, I always introduce them to the “anatomy” of the violin. There are actually many components that go into the making of a violin, and each one plays an imp …
