About Sepehrdad
As an experienced Violin teacher I help students to teach themselves the violin, to understood that their playing only improves when they change habits. A bored or disinterested child simply won’t progress, and a great violin teacher knows how to communicate with creativity and clarity. I have proper knowledge of the violin’s mechanics, general musical and repertoire knowledge, skilled as a player, and strength as a communicator. I have a bachelor degree in string performance, and I’ve taught students from beginner to advance for more than 10 years, guided students participating in inter-school musical shows, competitions and different musical presentations – Fests and orchestras. I teach both Suzuki and traditional method depending on the level of student.

I began playing the violin at the age of 7 and have played with the Cleveland Institute of Music Youth Orchestra, the Cleveland Women's Orchestra, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and am currently the principal second violinist with the Stow Symphony Orchestra. I believe that students can and should read music, but also believe in the importance of being able to "play by ear." My methods combine the best of Suzuki and Sassmannshaus methods. I have also been active in alternative string styles as a performer and a teacher.

About Barbara
Learning to play a musical instrument is a skill that has been proven to improve brain activity. It is one of the only activities to engage both sides of the brain. Students who learn a musical instrument show improvement in their ability to pay attention and understand what is being taught in their academic classes. Most students retain this advantage even if they do not continue to play into adulthood.

Music is fun! It also can express your feelings in ways words cannot. I don't just teach you how to play your instrument, I will teach you to have a love for your music, and from that, you will find that it is a lot of fun! After all, you do "play" your instrument!

In addition to the violin, viola and theory lessons described below, I am also available to coach ensembles. Any combination of string instruments you are working
with, I will work with your group to improve your cohesiveness and your musical style.

Nice to have the one on one teaching experience. If you have an issue she can stop you right on the spot that is giving you an issue and tell you what your are doing incorrectly. She also tells you what you are doing right.

About Bronwyn
My name is Bronwyn Keith-Hynes and I am a bluegrass and Irish fiddler living in Boston, MA. I am one of only a few fiddlers who play and teach bluegrass and Celtic music at a professional level. I have been playing the fiddle for 21 years, beginning at the age of 3 and graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a Professional Diploma in Violin Performance. I have performed with The Milk Carton Kids, Anais Mitchell, Tony Trischka, and Peter Rowan and currently perform with my progressive bluegrass band Mile Twelve. In addition to my private teaching practice, I teach workshops at festivals and camps across New England and have been on staff for the last two years at Berklee College of Music teaching private lessons for the Five Week Program.

Bronwyn is a gifted fiddle teacher with an uncommon ability to intuit what her students need and how they learn best. She teaches a broad range of students, including accomplished musicians, but I came to her as a 50-year-old with basically no musical background at all. As anyone who has tried this instrument knows, the fiddle has a learning curve that can be daunting to beginners. But Bronwyn managed to coax me to the next level and the next. She is deeply knowledgeable, patient and has an infectious love of the music. She makes it fun. My sense is that great musicians are not always great teachers. Bronwyn is both. I would recommend her to anyone.

About Sara
Hi! My name is Sara. My studio began in 2000, teaching one violin student. I took a break and went to college to earn my A.A. in Music and my Piano Performance Certificate from Riverside Community College in California. I graduated Great Distinction and was on the Dean's list. I received many piano and academic scholarships. While in college I started my studio in Riverside California teaching Piano to an autistic child. I taught him 3 times a week and made exceptional progress. I enjoyed it so much I started teaching full time in 2008 teaching piano, harp, violin, voice, guitar, flute and clarinet. Soon I had 50 students and created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit music school. My students and I perform for the public, including nursing homes. The performances are important for the students progress as well as the Piano Guild where students are
adjudicated by judges in a non competitive environment. Moving back to my hometown, I am excited to meet new students!

I structure my lessons so the student is learning and is disciplined to practice, but at the same time, having fun playing the violin. I like to start with scales and introduce my students to technique, a good sound and a productive way to practice.

I am very excited to be on this musical journey with you.

About Danae
I believe that over time, with dedication to practicing and properly structured lessons, students can become great musicians. I've seen this again and again in the 10 years since I started teaching, and I absolutely love watching young musicians grow under my guidance.

For me, teaching is a way of giving back. I am indebted to Bryan Dumm, (Cleveland Orchestra), Heidi Albert, (College of Wooster), Keith Robinson, (Kent State University), and many other well known musicians. These great teachers have taught me that good practice skills pay off in the end. Good technique makes you a better player. Also, the right focus and motivation will help you to grow, not only as a musician, but also as a person.

I provide properly structured lessons. I push my students hard to practice regularly, but it's ultimately up to the parents and the stu
dents to ensure this happens. Music provides kids with discipline, and it works the creative and analytical sides of the brain at the same time. How cool is that!

Danae has been a wonderful teacher and she has helped me tremendously with my desire to play the cello. A quietly observant instructor has a way of noticing the roadblocks and suggesting the subtle changes that can help you through them. Danae has that quality and her experience as well as her ability to pass that experience along has been key to my progress. I truly appreciate her talent and her patience.

I am currently a student at Bryn Mawr College. I teach violin and viola lessons. I have played the violin and viola for 12 years and over the course of my 4 years of teaching, I have taught over 15 students on both violin and viola. I usually work with children or teenagers and I can teach someone who has never played an instrument before as well as intermediate players. I use a variety of books that teach theory, rhythm and playing songs so the student gains confidence in preparing and performing "performance ready" pieces.
At college, I am principal viola of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Orchestra and I also am part of a chamber music group. In high school, I was in the Maryland All-State Orchestra for four years and was in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO), one of the most prestigious orchestras in Maryland, for four years. Private violin lessons should be accessible to everyone.

I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with powerful instructors who taught me violin at a very low price at a time when my family could not afford to pay the standard price for violin lessons. I understand the desire to want to be able to excel at what you love or what you wish to be a part of but not be able to partake due to the cost.

By becoming my student, you will be able to learn violin for as little as $15 a week (the lowest Take Lessons allows a violin instructor to charge.)

About Ebony
I am a violinist of nine years and am currently studying at the University of Northern Iowa.

Note: I have not yet bought a background check on myself due to the cost of $19.95. Please do not refrain from being my student due to the lack of an available background check on Take Lessons. I highly encourage you to take the time to verify my background and even meet with a past or current Mentor, Boss or Instructor. My most recent employment is at WesternHome, Cedar Falls, where I volunteer on a weekly basis. I recommend chatting with a WesternHome employee to learn more about me from a different perspective and to verify my background through and through.

I have coached two small ensembles, The Leviathans and Spontaneous Strings, of students from 14-18 years of age over the course of four years. During this time I learned two very impo
rtant skills when teaching an instrument: how to tailor my coaching based on an individual's need and how to create unique practice material to motivate and encourage students to succeed.

I prefer to teach students of beginner to intermediate level and welcome students of all ages.

I fully believe that each student is unique and therefore deserves a lesson plan that takes into account their personality, motivations, and skill level. Each lesson will represent a student’s ever changing ability and personality through carefully tuned practice and feedback. All students are encouraged to share their musical interests such as genre (classical, celtic, pop, and more) and type of learning strengths (visual, real world applications, etc.) so that I can best tailor each lesson for each individual.

For shorter lessons (20-30 minutes), I may require email communication at no extra cost for students who may need further instruction that cannot be given during such a short time period.

I look forward to chatting with you! Thank you!
