I have been studying violin for more than 15 years under the tutelage of accomplished teachers such as Drew Lecher and Vadim Mazo. Since a young age I have participated in various honors orchestras, chamber groups and youth orchestras with whom I've traveled with internationally. I have also been able to expand my art from coachings with Midori, the Pacifica Quartet, Roland Vamos, the Avalon Quartet, Isabella Lippi, Matthew Agnew, Nina Gordon, Mark Clinton, Julietta Mihai and Mihai Craivaneou among others.

About Gabriella
A graduate from Illinois Wesleyan University, Gabriella has earned her degree in Violin Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and recently earned her Masters in String Pedagogy at the Ohio State University under Robert Gillespie.
A few notable performances she has participated in are three solo recitals, concerts with the Danville, Lakeview, Wheaton and Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestras, and many performances with her quartet, including performances at the Consular Corps. Ball in Chicago. She has developed an advanced repertoire for her instrument and greatly enjoys imparting what she has learned with others.

Apart from being an exceptional violinist, Daren is friendly, personable and a great teacher. I had never played the violin before but he broke things down in a way that made sense to me. His tips and foundational instruction brought results by the end of just the first lesson. I'm excited to learn more!

Each lesson will be taught in response to current needs of a student but the following are the parts that make up an entire lesson:
- Technique
- Theory
- Music
- Practice
All together are basic fundamentals.

My job as a teacher is to help you find a place for music in your daily life and to make a practice time more of an experimental discovery play, than boring work. Once you find a key, it opens up a whole new world of communication.

As a private violin instructor, I believe that education is impossible without student’s motivation and passion. Perhaps you have decided to become a professional musician or maybe you want to play for your own enjoyment... Whatever your goals are, I can lead you there! Let's make it happen together because it is never late to follow a dream!

I recommend younger children travel to me for the best learning experience.

About Zhana
I have been a freelance violinist and a professional violin teacher for the past 30 years. Playing in the orchestra and teaching students are two of my greatest passions in life. As a private violin instructor, I firmly believe that education is impossible without student motivation and passion. As much as I love teaching, my best experience is also learning from my students.

- Tbilisi State Music Academy - 7 year degree in Violin/Piano performance.
- Tbilisi State College of Music and Arts - Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance.
- Tbilisi State Music Conservatory - Master's Degree in Violin Performance.

I am very fortunate to love teaching because it allows me to share my knowledge and incredible experiences that I have acquired in my 30 years of being a m
usician in Europe and the United States.

Professional work experience:
- Park Avenue Chamber Orchestra - NY,NY
- Charlotte Symphony Orchestra - Florida

If you are looking for an excellent teacher that can help you develop both technique and musicality, I highly recommend Zhana.

I have had the privilege of studying with her for seven months as an adult beginner, and I have learned so much. I come out of every lesson feeling like I’ve made progress—even when I am unhappy with how I am playing, Zhana helps me understand a key thing that I need to do to play better. She is able to explain things so that you don’t just conceptually understand, but so that your body can understand too (for all those times that your brain knows what you need to do but your finger/wrist/arm/etc. won’t cooperate).

Because she has played as a professional performer, Zhana draws on her experience to guide you to bring musicality and emotion to whatever you’re playing… even if you’re still in the early Suzuki books like me. I’ve studied with many teachers in the past (in school and privately) for piano, clarinet and voice lessons, so I know that the ability to teach across this broad spectrum of skills is rare.

Zhana isn’t just a great teacher, she is also a wonderful person. I am moving out of the city for a year, but I fully intend to continue lessons with her when I return!

I love playing and teaching violin and can't wait to share my passion with you!

I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.

About Martina
Hi! My name is Martina and I am a classically trained violist. In May of 2013 I received a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, where I studied with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin with Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte quartet. The only thing I love more than playing viola is sharing the joy of music with others! I've received training on violin and viola and can't wait to start teaching you or your child.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my approach to each student to make sure that:
1.) The student is getting exactly what he/she wants out of the lessons.
2.) The lessons are an appropriate difficulty for the student.
3.) A student's strengths and weaknesses are being addressed with a tailor-made lesson plan and long-term goals.

Martina is very skilled at what she does, and she is an amazing teacher. She pointed out all of my strengths and weaknesses at the first lesson, and she always teaches at my pace and not her own, giving me the opportunity to completely learn something before moving on to more difficult things. She is overall a very friendly person who you will feel incredibly comfortable to be around, and she always does the best job that she can to teach me every single lesson. I look forward to our lessons every week, and I am simply amazed by how much I am progressing under her guidance.

Music should never simply be a rote-learning process. We develop real artistry. My students learn how to interpret, transform, and create music. From the first lesson, we experiment with various musical "ingredients" and revisit these tools often as we move through a lesson series or repertoire. Students explore a variety of styles and learn to read, compose, and improvise. Students as young as five have created their own theme and variations on a favorite tune with these techniques.

About Lauren
Hello! My name is Lauren S., and I am excited to bring out the musician in you!

Whether you're searching for yourself or your child, I would love to invite you to my beautiful creative space and help you meet your musical goals.

I focus on developing true artistry with my students and giving them the fundamental tools to be able to play and write various styles of music including classical, musical theater, folk, contemporary, Christian, and more.

We play from the very first lesson and learn other concepts such as music theory, literacy, and technique in subsequent lessons.

My students are involved in school ensembles, church choirs, community choirs, community and children's theater, and district contests. I support and seek out these opportunities according to their interests.

Please send me a note! I can't wait to get
started.

I began playing the violin in fourth grade and continued all the way through high school. I spent a lot of time learning the technique of solo playing as well as the balance necessary with the other instruments of the orchestra. I also spent two years in my high school’s chamber orchestra.

My studio is ideal for the study of violin because I can accompany my students on my grand piano.

About Ben
Music Lessons & Tutoring

Welcome to my studio, where I will instruct you in your musical and academic endeavors. What sets me apart is that I offer diverse instruction in two different areas. In my music studio, I give lessons in piano, violin, guitar, and composition. In my tutoring center, I specialize in Latin (learning from scratch and tutoring). I instruct students of all ages at different skill levels.

My in-studio lessons are given on a grand piano.

Education

BM Music Composition -- Ohio State University, Autumn 2012
BA Classics (Greek and Latin) -- Ohio State University, Autumn 2012
Classics Fellowship -- Indiana University, 2013-2014
Piano Training: Collegiate lessons from Steven Glaser and private lessons from George Haddad

Accomplishments

As a high school senior, under the tutelage of OSU Profess
or Emeritus and world-renowned pianist George Haddad, I performed the first movement of Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto with the chamber orchestra.

I performed different self-composed pieces at seven OSU Composers' Workshops and won the Audience Favorite Award at the Johnstone Woodwinds Composition Competition in 2012. My Senior Composition Recital was performed on October 25, 2012. It showcased several of my three-movement works: string quartet, clarinet solo, set of classical songs for piano and voice, set of pop songs for piano and voice. Interspersed with these were two solo piano pieces and a duet for piano and violin.

My background makes me a knowledgeable and effective tutor. I was valedictorian at Delaware Hayes High School in 2009 and received OSU's Maximus Scholarship based on my ACT and SAT scores.

I started working with Andrew after an 18 month hiatus and am very pleased. Andrew's teaching style is very adaptable, which for an adult student who works full time, is great. Some weeks I don't have a lot of time to practice and we focus on technique. Other times, we work on music and technique. He is also great about explaining the "how" and the "why" of why musicians should spend time on scales, technique, etc;
I would absolutely recommend Andrew to adult students and younger student.s

He explains technique exceptionally well, has an impressive understanding of phrasing and musicality while playing, and is very patient and understanding, he has a great sense of humor, while also giving students the right amount of push they need. He has high expectations but they are always attainable for his students, and he is very flexible with each students unique needs. I highly recommend him as an instructor, he is worth every penny and students always see quick and impressive improvement; I know I did while I studied with him.
