Violin is a complex art, one that takes many years to develop, but can be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. Despite its challenges, love for the violin and music should never take a back seat in a lesson, That is what I will focus on. Nevertheless, there are methods and techniques crucial to violin playing that I will also keep at the forefront. At the end of the day, students have their own unique voice that I will try to nurture while at the same time teach them the fundamental tools to achieve it. Whether just starting out or already playing for many years, I will strive to do what is best for the student. To all of you, I wish you best of luck with violin and hope you can join me in making music!

Fun lessons but also challenging
- I believes that fun lessons are easy to gain young student interest, but it often lack to give them motivation. In the lessons, I often challenge my students, let them be self-motivated and become a better musician.
Techniques
- I focus my lessons on teaching proper techniques with their instruments. With my experiences in taking lessons from American, Chinese, and Russian teachers, I learnt a great spectrum of techniques and like to teach what I had learn.
Learning pieces and other related topics
- Playing pieces and songs is only a small piece of playing an instrument. In lessons, I also teach proper music theory, and ear-training.
I have students from age 4 to retirement age. Early beginner to preparing for college ...

I use a combination of Suzuki approaches, improvisation, Dalcroze-inspired eurythmics, and somatic movement awareness (inspired by Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique) to simultaneously develop fluent musicality, joy in making music, a solid instrumental technique, and musicianship (including reading and theory). A former sufferer of tendonitis, she has a particular interest in addressing and preventing performance injuries, in both beginning and experienced players.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I've been taking violin lessons from Marc for several weeks and he is a great teacher. He has a low pressure teaching style that I really like because I get nervous when I play in front of other people. He seems very knowledgeable in both the technical aspects of the violin as well as the music theory. He is quick to return emails and is always happy to answer my questions. I've taken other instrument lessons in the past and Marc is by far the best teacher I've had. I'm really enjoying my lessons with Marc and I hope to continue for a long time to come."

She has a very good way to teach children. We almost give up to learnt violin after taking private classes in 92y that my 5 years old didn't liked. After few weeks with Zhana my daughter told me she love violin."

I have had the privilege of studying with her for seven months as an adult beginner, and I have learned so much. I come out of every lesson feeling like I’ve made progress—even when I am unhappy with how I am playing, Zhana helps me understand a key thing that I need to do to play better. She is able to explain things so that you don’t just conceptually understand, but so that your body can understand too (for all those times that your brain knows what you need to do but your finger/wrist/arm/etc. won’t cooperate).
Because she has played as a professional performer, Zhana draws on her experience to guide you to bring musicality and emotion to whatever you’re playing… even if you’re still in the early Suzuki books like me. I’ve studied with many teachers in the past (in school and privately) for piano, clarinet and voice lessons, so I know that the ability to teach across this broad spectrum of skills is rare.
Zhana isn’t just a great teacher, she is also a wonderful person. I am moving out of the city for a year, but I fully intend to continue lessons with her when I return!"

Just What is Musicality, Anyway? Musicality is defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “the quality of being musical.” What does that mean, though? Is there a method to defining what is musical versus what is not? One can instinctively hear when a phrase sounds natural, beautiful, convincing - musical - versus when it is not. Phrasing, much like public speaking, can be made more or less convincing depending on the manner with which you deliver a phrase. Quantz, the famous …

The inimitable Lindsey Stirling has shaken the world’s concept of classical music.
