About Laura
I teach voice, piano and guitar. My Music Degree from Point Loma Nazarene University is in Vocal Performance. I love what I do. I teach children through adults. I have lots of experience in worship
leading for church if that is of interest.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am easy-going, but I expect you to practice. I am thorough in my approach. For piano lessons, I utilize the Alfred method. I emphasize note reading and theory in each genre, whether taking guitar, voice or piano. I am currently using Hal Leonard's Guitar Method books for guitar and a few different things for vocal curriculum. All lessons can be supplemented with what you are currently interested in or working towards. I enjoy helping prepare young people for their performances in theatre arts. Lessons can be combined, for example; if you are interested in both voice and
guitar, you can take a longer weekly lesson and have both subjects covered! Weekly assignments are given and checked to see if done before proceeding to the next step! I do not recommend students come every other week. I recommend one lesson per week.

*** Travel Equipment ***
guitar and books. Student provides their guitar during lesson and for piano, must have a piano or keyboard at home for practice.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping young worship leaders hone their gifts. I enjoy preparing people for their musical theatre performances.

-Children in piano lessons will learn music theory and piano technique through simple songwriting exercises, theory games, visual tools and more. They will learn about composer's lives and musical styles, providing them with a well-rounded lesson experience.

About me!

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum  who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a  Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.

I also have my own parent/child music class I host every Thursday September-May. It's never to early to start a music education!

I have been teaching for over four years and now have a studio of more than 70 happy students. Teaching music is my passion, and I love seeing students grow!

I often draw upon my experience from my master's degree in music therapy, which taught me that music can have a profound effect on the human brain and upon cognitive development.  My skills as a music therapist allow me to better understand a student's cognitive strengths and areas for improvement, and to develop individualized teaching strategies which utilize student strengths.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studios are equipped with keyboard, guitar or piano, as well as a sizable repertoire of classical, broadway and popular music. ' I also have a mirror for voice students to see how their body is moving when singing and visual tools for students like scarves, whiteboard, markers, crayons...ect. I am more than happy to help students find any music they may need for lessons that is not already in my library.

I recommend the following books for piano students (listed by age):
Ages 4-6:
My First Piano Adventure, Lesson Book A with by Nancy & Randall Faber
Ages 6-12:Piano Adventures - Level 1: Lesson Book [Book]Faber Piano Adventures

Ages 12 and up:

As everyone is different with different goals, ages, and levels of proficiency so to is my method of instruction for each individual... Beginners will expect to quickly begin enjoying the instrument without intimidation by it ... they will learn... 1. Proper left and right hand, arm, and body positioning. 2. Proper (not common !) pick grip and angles. 3. Strongly "suggested" reading of music. 4. How to play notes and first position chords. 5. Rhythm focus to play along with all previously listed to some of their favorite songs... An intermediate to advanced Classical student may expect a doses of technique, sight reading, and theory within a particular lesson for say, ABRSM exam prep.. An Intermediate to Advanced Blues, Rock, or Shred student may expect more focus on scale and arpeggio applications for improvisation.

About Don
Hi,

I teach all levels and ages for such styles as Classical/Flamenco Guitar(including ABRSM EXAM PREP.), Blues, Rock, Shred, Metal, Jazz, Country, and General Instruction for Beginners and those just wanting "to know how to play some tunes.".
I tailor instruction to my students' goals... not mine. Goal #1..we're having fun as we learn !.. this is not to be confused with Navy Seals Training !

Years ago I took Guitar Lessons at a local music store ( a very prominent one) as a raw beginner and quickly became frustrated with my lack of progress. Although my teacher was a great player and "very hot" to look at I soon began to feel like I was merely his "practice dummy."... I'd play the chords he showed me, endlessly,... while he seemed to be just practicing his solo playing. ... I then tried On-Line Lessons from various sites which were actually even less helpful and soon just lost interest completely.
A friend of mine said she had taken lessons from a Don DeBold for about 5 years before going off to college and highly recommended him.
I've now been taking lessons from Don for almost 2 years and having a blast ! I've learned how to play along with most of my favorite songs (mainly Blues and Rock) and now I'm learning to play Solo Guitar that needs no accompaniment !
Unlike my first teacher, during many lessons Don barely plays or even has his Strat on his lap because he's busy concentrating on what I'm doing !
He's a stickler yet lots of fun at the same time> I super recommend him as a Guitar and Music Teacher !!! Aneiah J.

How you progress and learn is really up to you. Its how much practice time you actually put in. I can and will make learning really simple, and easy however, at the end of the day if you don't practice a certain amount of time per day then you wont reach your goals. The key is knowing what to practice, and maximize your time.
Most people will simply just jam, they wont practice. You need to practice to be able to play. You need to be able to play to Jam. not the other way around.

About Jeff
I started playing guitar in 1977 I played my first professional gig in 1986. I studied the GIT guitar method as taught by the musicians institute in Hollywood California.
Since 1990 I have taught literally thousands of students. I have taught for some major music store chains, as well as in my own studio. I play and teach all styles from simple acoustic songs and strumming all the way up to extremely complicated rip roaring leads.
From blues to rock, country, metal. You name it I can teach and play it.
I have had extensive professional experience in the music industry, and I have played in front of thousands of people in all types of venues.
No matter what your goal I can help you achieve it.
Learning guitar takes patience, and you need to go slow. You can not go on to the next step, next note, next lick, until you have really learne
d the previous one. This is most peoples biggest mistake.

Guitar lessons in my private Studio in downtown San Jose. I have toured around the world with bands such as Guns N Roses, Dokken, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt and Metallica. I have studio experience. Over 20+ experience in teaching, touring and recording.
I specialize in rock, metal, blues, acoustic, classical and pop music. I can teach beginners how to start correctly yet learn fast from techniques I developed myself and learned from guitar masters such as Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Stave Vai and George lynch themselves. I can also teach advanced techniques, artist development, live and gear consultation.

About Ahmad
I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. & M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe & the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam
Ash Best in Shred competition.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.

*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.

*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching Electric, Acoustic & CLassical Guitar.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

Ahmad is very passionate about teaching guitar. I've been playing guitar for last 2 year and with Ahmad, I've learnt much more in couple of months than I learnt in 2 years putting me on the Fast track. He has a very structured teaching approach, He breaks down complex techniques in small modules, which enabled me to learn quickly and everything is reviewed in the following class. Ahmad tailored the guitar lessons according to my skills and interests.
He is a great teacher and I highly recommend him for guitar lesson.
