As everyone is different with different goals, ages, and levels of proficiency so to is my method of instruction for each individual... Beginners will expect to quickly begin enjoying the instrument without intimidation by it ... they will learn... 1. Proper left and right hand, arm, and body positioning. 2. Proper (not common !) pick grip and angles. 3. Strongly "suggested" reading of music. 4. How to play notes and first position chords. 5. Rhythm focus to play along with all previously listed to some of their favorite songs... An intermediate to advanced Classical student may expect a doses of technique, sight reading, and theory within a particular lesson for say, ABRSM exam prep.. An Intermediate to Advanced Blues, Rock, or Shred student may expect more focus on scale and arpeggio applications for improvisation.

A friend of mine said she had taken lessons from a Don DeBold for about 5 years before going off to college and highly recommended him.
I've now been taking lessons from Don for almost 2 years and having a blast ! I've learned how to play along with most of my favorite songs (mainly Blues and Rock) and now I'm learning to play Solo Guitar that needs no accompaniment !
Unlike my first teacher, during many lessons Don barely plays or even has his Strat on his lap because he's busy concentrating on what I'm doing !
He's a stickler yet lots of fun at the same time> I super recommend him as a Guitar and Music Teacher !!! Aneiah J.

Successfully teaching current students with clear, concise lessons.
All of my current students have developed confidence and enthusiasm to learn all materials presented in an easy to comprehend format.
Each student learns at different levels so all lessons are customized to challenge them but also insure they learn and retain all materials presented to them.
Currently have 16 students ranging from beginners to advanced level.
When selecting a teacher, make arrangements to meet in person to review short and long term goals of learning a musical instrument. Pricing should only be used as the last criteria before making a final decision. It's important to insure your instructor is patient and willing to challenge students to setup a practice routine that will fit their current schedule.
If a student needs an instrument, have instructor give recommendations based on the musical styles they are interested in learning.
Students often ask how long it will take to learn to play a Guitar.

I played music professionally for many years, both solo and in a variety of bands. I did not enjoy performing. I am a songwriter and my studio is where I feel most comfortable. I teach finger-style acoustic guitar as my default but enjoy other styles as well. Regardless of style, it will always be combined with a strong understanding of music theory and guitar basics. It doesn't matter If you are interested in more advanced topics (i.e. songwriting, recording, etc.) or are a complete beginner. I am happy to work with all levels. Let's get started. You can do this!
About Chuck
I've been writing and recording music my whole life. Aside from motorcycle riding, it's my true love.

Hello! I am a classical guitarist and composer/arranger living in the Pacific Northwest. I am classically trained, with my Master's in Music from the University of Idaho (along with a Bachelor's in Composition). Apart from the classical tradition, I enjoy playing music from Latin America: especially Bossa Nova.

I'm his Dad so I've seen how rewarding it can be for his students. He's also given me a basic set of skills on the guitar. It goes without saying, I recommend him highly!!"

And that's just Jeff's interaction with me. In addition to that, he is a great musician. He can hear everything and can write down the chords of a song he never before in only a few minutes. He can play almost anything just by ear. He also knows music theory and was able to help answer my questions in that area. He also guided me towards some theory and scale books since I showed extra interest in that.
In terms of personality, Jeff is very patient and kind. He cares about what he does and he cares about his students. He knows what it's like to face the challenges of learning an instrument. He was even gracious enough to spend his time helping me to pick out my first electric guitar (I had been using just an acoustic). In additional to that, he is ALWAYS on time for lessons and spends that extra few minutes when he can.
I would highly recommend Jeff for guitar lessons!"
