About Cheyenne

I have played the violin for 15 years, starting from when I was in elementary school. I participated in the orchestras for middle and high school. In these orchestras, we participated in many competitions and festivals. When I was in college, I joined a community orchestra called the East County Youth Symphony. This is where I honed in on my skills and progressed towards a intermediate level. I received harder literature to read and played with some amazing musicians in concerts. Because of this orchestra, I was able to participate in a musical for Young Actors Theater. I played the violin for the play Les Miserables. After this, I joined the Greater San Diego Orchestra which allowed me to perform with solo artists and participate in film festivals. I had the opportunity to play for another musical for Young Actors Theater, this time Bea

uty and the Beast. Currently, I am a member of a mariachi group for the City Heights Music School. This group consists of musicians of various age and skill levels. We play in festivals and performances around the San Diego area.

I work in NYC as an actor/musician, and am currently The Fiddler in the Drama-Desk winning revival of The Fiddler on the Roof Off-Broadway! As a classically trained musician, I have found myself playing a wide range of genres in my professional life, from musical theater to bluegrass. Our lessons will include scale work, ear-training, and a range of repertoire catered to your wants and needs!

About Lauren

I'm a professional actor/musician in NYC, currently playing the Fiddler in the hit off-Broadway revival of The Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Oscar and Tony award winner Joel Grey (2019 Drama Desk Winner Best Musical Revival). I am available for in-home, online, and in-studio lessons, where I can teach violin, flute, singing, acting, and English (ESL).

I received my BFA in Acting from Boston University's school of theater. As a classically trained singer, violinist and flautist, I've been able to incorporate my musical talents with my career as an actress. I play a range of professional gigs, from churches to rock concerts to pit orchestras. I had the chance to travel around the US, performing in theaters around the country for the Broadway national tour of the tony-award winning actor/musician musical, Once! My range of experience h

elps me cater lessons to you and your specific needs.

I have been teaching music and theater for over 5 years, and two years ago I began teaching ESL to elementary students in Turkey. I fell in love with teaching English, and feel my training in theater and music helps me use different, exciting teaching techniques in our lessons. I am conversational in both Turkish and Spanish as well!

No matter if we're working on music, acting, or English, I'm incredibly committed to my students and want each lesson to be fun and motivational. I'm a patient, supportive teacher, and know that each student is unique and moves at his/her own pace! Please reach out to me, and I will be happy to answer your questions!

We love Lauren. She is making violin a great experience for our daughter (11 yrs old). She is very thorough and encouraging, and introduces interesting music that is fun and challenging for a beginner student. Our daughter says she can truly feel her own improvement, and is really happy to have additional lessons with Lauren, beyond what she receives in school. Lauren is flexible with scheduling and very reliable, and we intend to stick with her - and with the violin- for the duration!

Lauren is an awesome violinist. I worked with her in a show and watched her tackle many different styles of music, improvise with other musicians, and collaborate on new material. I would recommend her to anyone!

Lauren Thomas is an excellent musician with a tremendous amount of patience and a seemingly boundless supply of talents. As a fellow musician who has played professionally alongside Lauren, I have witnessed first hand her skilled mastery of both the flute and the violin -- as intuitive as she is technically proficient. Apart from her musical abilities, she's kind, fun and sensitive and would make for either a great beginner violin teacher or as an instructor for someone with intermediate skills looking to expand their abilities. Cannot recommend her highly enough! Whether you're seeking instruction in the flute or the violin, Lauren's the woman for the job.

I specialize in teaching strings; violin, viola, cello, upright bass. I teach ages four and older. If you can tie your shoes you can play the violin. I use the "Essential Elements for Strings" and the "G'DAE" curriculum mainly.

Lessons should be fun, and you should enjoy it more and more each time you come. That is why I teach not only classical music, but current popular music that is played on the radio. I like to hear the student's opinions, and see their reaction when they play songs they can recogni

ze. Sure, technique and posture are taught, but it is in a fun safe environment. I also teach that it is okay to make a mistake. There is no judgment in my class, and if you need more time or more help then that is what you get.

Michelle is an awesome teacher. My children 8 & 11 are taking Violin lessons with her and she has been amazing. She is very easy to work with and both my children are very comfortable with her, even my daughter who is very shy but Michelle finds a way to work with her. I was not sure about online lessons for young children but it has been a great experience.

Private Violin Teacher

For the dedicated, adventurous, and creative student.

I create a space for the intelligent and inquisitive to explore what is possible through music, using the violin and other instruments or the process of music production as an opportunity to develop their personal voice.

You can learn and master an instrument, and I will help you do that, but there's more to it than that.

You can create music in a way that makes your life better. Through mastery of an instrument, or the skills of music production, you can see the world through a more colorful lens.

I teach violin, piano, voice, music production, composition, and songwriting.

About Josh

Short version:

I grew up in Florida, where I spent my time water gardening, woodcarving, playing the violin, and slaying giant sea monsters in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve composed film scores, arranged string quartets, and recorded/produced everything from rock bands to madrigalian choirs. I played 1st chair violin in the Tampa Bay Symphony and have a degree in classical violin with a focus in composition from the University of Miami, where I worked on both violin and classical piano before moving to Austin, Texas to continue conquering the planet with cool noises.

Longer version:

I am a performing, recording, and teaching violinist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Violin Performance With An Emphasis On Music Composition and Technology. I am a songwriter, composer, pianist, and singer as well, with a background in: acro yoga, b

odywork, a handstand study, and a curiosity in speed learning, body awareness, mental agility, flow, and expression. This allows me to take a more holistic view of playing music. My experience gives me the belief that music can be used as a tool to develop the mind and body through awareness and strategy, not just chance.

My understanding of music has affected the way I perceive the world, and the way I move through it. I enjoy sharing that with my students.

I teach a lot of skills and instruments. My greatest joys are teaching the violin, and music production.

The violin is an instrument that is incredibly simple conceptually and, when played, provides an infinite opportunity for variation. The process of learning involves stripping that infinite variety into a set of simple ideas that are learned, ingrained, and, eventually, the variety is reintroduced and creative ability begins to show itself in a usable form. Using the violin as a fun and rewarding method of self expression, and a tool for sharpening the mind and the body provides a powerful combination that, when approached with regular practice, can provide a depth of benefit far beyond possessing a new skill.

Music production is a huge part of music, a bigger part of the future of music. And every great musician is a producer in one sense or another. To me, production is seeing the big picture. To decide what you want the hear, to imagine a sound, an arrangement, a complete track or album, and to bring it into the world complete with all the precision and happy accidents that go along with that process, that is music production. I particularly enjoy teaching electronic music production through Pro Tools, Ableton Live (what I use the most personally), or Fruity Loops. I'm comfortable with most modern software relating to music. And I will guide you through the process of learning effects, recording techniques, sound design, songwriting, composing, arranging, and mixing, to create the music that reflects your imagination.

I’ve had the privilege of taking some minor violin lessons as well as some piano lessons from Josh, and even had the pleasure of having him on my 3rd album as a collaborator. As an instructor, he was able to explain these new musical instrument endeavors for me, and remind me of the the thrill of overcoming a hurdle when it comes to composing and teaching yourself. I’ve been playing guitar for about 17 years now, so that hurdle was many years ago. I highly recommend Josh for instruction at all age and experience levels.

I want my students to enjoy learning how to play violin no matter their age. I started playing at the age of 3 years old, and I am now 26. I know what it's like to grow up learning an instrument as well as some of the difficulties that accompany it. I believe all students should have a balance between classical/theory and a genre of their choice. It's nice to have a few songs that they recognize to keep them interested.

About Jordan

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jordan Price. I have been playing violin since the age of 3 years old. I was an All-State violinist in the state of Minnesota from ages 14-18 years old. During my high school years, I also played "God Bless America" at two MLB Minnesota Twins baseball games. I also played the national anthem for my sporting events growing up: basketball and volleyball games.

Once I left for college, I played in the orchestra at UW-La Crosse, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I now have had my own music business, Dolce Amor, since I graduated high school. My business partner, Kailey, and I play in weddings, events, etc. all over the United States.

I have been teaching since 2012 and love seeing improvement. I believe in FUN. Learning an instrument has so many benefits, and loving it can really change a person's life. I am so tha

nkful I learned an instrument starting from a young age, but it's never too late to start. I LOVE music. I honestly don't know where my life would be without it.

"I've been playing the violin self-taught for about two years because my first experience with a violin teacher went horribly. So after two years I figured
I'd try again.
I was on Reverb Lessons for 6 months, and it was a complete nightmare. The most highly rated teacher they provided didn't seem like he was teaching me anything at all. Most of our lesson were music theory, which was helpful, but I would only play the violin the last 5 mins of the two hour lessons. He kept telling me, "i didn't have it in me to be a violinist" and he told me to play piano instead. Well it turned out he didn't even play the violin!
Completely despondent, I was getting angry that I
might not progress in the violin (which I was madly in love with) but dispite my bitterness I decided to try to find a teacher again.

I've only had three lesson with Josh and I can't articulate how much better I've gotten. He's calm and collective, and gives me exactly the advice I need in order to get better. He's an attentive listener, and responds accordingly. I enjoy his lessons; they are the perfect balance of stern and nurturing. I'm excited to see how I progress as the lessons continue, and I'm thankful that I FINALLY found a good violin instructor"
