With my expansive experience as a violinist in various genres/settings and my three years of teaching experience, I provide my students with a well-rounded and unique take on learning the violin. While I often start with classical music to get the students familiar with note reading, fundamental playing techniques, and basic music theory, I do take the time to get to know the students and their musical interests - thus tailoring my curriculum and repertoire choices towards the students' interests and goals. A specialty of mine is arranging pieces and songs from various genres for the violin based on the student's preferences and level of playing.

I have been playing viola for 17 years and teaching violin, viola, and cello for 8 years. I graduated from the University of West Florida in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance - Viola. My viola instructor was Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy, current and former concert master of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
While earning my degree, I also learned how to play violin and cello and am able to teach them up to an intermediate level.
My teaching ideology is that ANYONE can learn an instrument at any age. I have taught students as young as 4 and as old as 65! Many adult students of mine have expressed difficulty and even shame in trying to find a teacher for them who would take them on, simply because they were starting as an adult.
We don't have to train for the symphony (unless you want to!); your goals are my goals and I will help you reach them!

I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.

I teach using a modified Suzuki method. This means that, while I do subscribe to Suzuki's "mother tongue" approach, I also believe that education on an instrument requires literacy from a young age. I have discovered in my years of teaching that an early ability to read notes and understand musical theory and form is not a handicap to a student's development, but rather a benefit to the student gaining a richer, fuller understanding of their instrument and music in general.

Learning to play the violin doesn't have to be a task. I believe conquering a musical instrument is as much about love as it is dedication. I wouldn't be where I am today without the love and support of my teachers throughout the years. With my teaching, I intend to instill great technical facility as well as a love and respect for the instrument. (Students must provide their own violin)

An experienced and registered Suzuki teacher, my students learn to play violin starting from a solid foundation with emphasis on posture and producing a beautiful tone. In addition to playing the instrument, students can expect to learn reading music, basic theory, music history, and ear training. Learning violin will teach patience, concentration, the value of hard work, coordination, as well as enhancing memory, aural skills, and fine motor control. It was Dr. Suzuki's belief and mine that learning an instrument not only fosters these skills but also helps to foster the hearts and minds of those learning the craft.
