Ukulele lessons are incorporated into my instruction practice as ukulele is traditionally easier than guitar for inexperienced players. It’s a smaller body, neck, and fretboard, and has nylon strings instead of steel strings. It will help the student develop confidence in their playing to songs that inspire them. Josh has been playing and performing music for over 13 years. He has achieved a bachelor's degree in instrumental music education and has experience as an instructor teaching private students and group classes for over 7 years. He has studied instrumental music education including areas of classical music, jazz, theory, history, and improvisation.

I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of rhythm, chords, knowledge of the instrument and proper hand skills. As a ukulele beginner, you’ll learn to keep your strumming steady while changing between 2-5 basic chords within a few lessons. You will find in just a few lessons that the songs you know and love are actually accessible and playable! With continued practice, you’ll start to create your own songs using the chords you know, and you will learn more complex chords, transposing, and reading melodies on the staff.

I'll make your lessons meaningful to you, by creating many of my own visual aids to meet your level and interests. I have been playing the ukulele for approximately 8 years. Combined with my knowledge of music theory and guitar, I can teach whatever techniques one would be interested in learning on the ukulele. We can explore chord voicings and arrange songs for the ukulele or we can stick to the easier and more well known things such as Somewhere over the rainbow and Mele Kalikimaka :)
