My first priority is to inspire and motive. Find out the students wants and needs, then tackle them head on. As we do this proper technique is a must, it is the difference between a good guitarist and a great guitarist. Music theory and understand the language of music. The better we know the language the better we can speak it. Learn songs and music is a must ...it is the reason why we play.

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. Eric is a great singing instructor! He's doing a great job tailoring the lessons to fit my skill level and goals as an amateur learning basic technique. For the first few lessons, he took the time to understand my voice, taught me exercises to learn how to better control my voice, and helped me practice singing some of my favorite (pop) songs. I feel like my voice and understanding of singing has improved significantly in even just a handful of lessons. Eric is also very patient and encouraging, which has given me a lot more confidence in enjoying my hobby to its fullest extent!

I come from a choral, liturgical signing background, so he's helped me with placement, chest voice, and pronunciation for pop, rock, country, and other genres. I highly recommend!

So You Are Interested In Guitar ? "Guitar" conjures up so many diverse styles and techniques. Do you love Classic Rock, Ballads, Country, Blues...? Do you Prefer the Acoustic or Electric Guitar ? The most important question you must ask is what do I want to learn and am I willing to do what is necessary to meet my own goals.. IF you answered "Yes" I strongly suggest we discuss how I can help you.

About Russell
My name is Russell "Rusty". I have been a professional guitarist for 25 years. During the past 25 years I have managed the area's largest music stores, opened a Guitar Repair Center and became a "Certified *Fender Guitar Technician" . My experience with other musicians on stage and in the studio is without parallel. A "school" cannot duplicate real world experience. I understand the frustrations associated with finding the right person who understands how to treat you as an individual. A great instructor will not teach out of a book, they will write a book for you. A real Education in "playing guitar" is much broader than what you can learn from a book. I can help you understand the guitar in a practical and logical way, how to become a "guitar player" - not just how to "play the guitar". Lets talk about how I can help you meet
your goals.

*** Lesson Details ***
I want to make our time together something that you will look forward to each week. The guitar is a very expressive and diverse instrument. My goal as your instructor is helping you reach your own goal. I teach each student in an individual way based on your interest, and my assessment of how to help you reach those goals, every lesson is time YOUR time! I take time before each lesson planning our time together. Commit 3 months and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish, 6 months and you'll begin to play through songs, after a year you will look back with pride and realize how much you have learned. I consider myself "laid back" and easy to talk too, but I will encourage you to accomplish what I know you can. When you put forth effort forth, and follow your lesson plans, you will have a great experience! ~Rusty

*** Studio Equipment ***
HOME: lessons in dedicated music room, guitars, amps, bass guitar, music stand, cords, cables, picks, tuners, stand.....

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide any materials and or equipment relative to the area of study for myself in addition to the student should that situation present itself.

*** Specialties ***
Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, and Country. I teach "slide" guitar for those students who are interested in learning more about "delta-blues" and rock guitar utilizing the slide in style very similar to Z.Z. Top.

I can teach beginning guitar students how to play their favorite songs. Also, how to read tabs and chord charts. Advanced students can learn theory and jazz improvisation. I can help students who have been using a capo learn how to play bar chords so you will no longer need a capo.
Guitar students should be at least nine years old.
I do not teach finger picking style.

About John
I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. A lot of my students are well on their way to a rewarding future with music, some as professionals and others as hobbyists. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a professional performer who has worked in a wide variety of styles and I have a Masters degree in music composition and theory.

One of my main specialties is working with very young students and total beginners. There is a special skill to teaching young children that can only be developed through experience. For the older student, or the student who already has a musical background my specialty is helping you learn the styles that have always been of most interest to you. I can also help older students gain a broad understanding of music through some basic music theory.

**
* Lesson Details ***
I can teach piano or keyboard to beginners and up to advanced students. On guitar and woodwinds I can teach beginners and up to intermediate level students.
My teaching style is fairly relaxed and very positive, but I will try to keep the lessons on a course that is going to benefit you the most.

For younger piano students and beginners I prefer the Alfreds piano system. The songs in the Alfreds books allow for immediate playing and note reading without any tedious memorization. The beginner books contain a lot of fun songs that kids really gravitate toward. For older students I try to gear the lessons toward whatever musical style you prefer. For students who have only had traditional piano lessons I can teach you how to read pop and jazz chord charts, as well as how to turn those chord charts into fully arranged music. I can also teach improvisation and the skills that are required to play specific styles of music in a professional band.

For my younger guitar students I have a variety of beginner material I have collected over the years, but for my older students I prefer to work on songs of their choice.
My beginner woodwind students will work with a Yamaha method book, while older students can learn improvisation and theory if they like.

I also can lead Orff styled tuned percussion ensembles. The Orff style of music performance allows for students from entirely mis-matched musical backgrounds to play music together, even on their first day of class.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Professional digital piano, many other keyboards, guitar, bass guitar, saxophone, flute, and four Orff tuned percussion instruments. I also have a comfortable seating area for parents, guests or observers.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide multiple keyboards, a guitar, saxophone, flute and 4 Orff style tuned percussion instruments, as well as countless books and literature.

*** Specialties ***
I play keyboards professionally in jazz, RnB, rock, reggae, Latin rock and other styles. I can help the student who has only had traditional lessons branch out and learn how to read chord charts, which in turn teaches them theory.
I am a certified Orff teacher as well.

Dan is an amazing teacher. When I came to him first, I barely knew how to hold a guitar. He took me under his wings, and almost ten months later, he transformed my playing where I now actually sound like I'm playing a real song.

He is extremely talented, very gifted, and really really good at teaching. He excels in breaking down a concept, or helping me figure out the right way to play a chord, or a lick. He has also proved that he has an amazing ear, helping me learn a song (that he's never heard before), by breaking it down, and de-constructing it.

I am very happy with him being my teacher, and I look forward to learning a lot from him.

I am a retired professional singer/songwriter who now spends all her spare time in a career of songwriting. In my lessons, you will learn to read music and play all the basic chords. If you are interested in songwriting, I can coach you in that as well. My lessons are casual with a fun atmosphere.

About Donna
I know first hand what its like growing up feeling awkward, not belonging, left out and unhappy. I also know first hand how learning the guitar changed all of that. I was not the most popular girl in school, but I was the happiest. And that my friends, drew people to me and changed my life. Read on if you'd like to learn more.

Biography

Stricken with spinal meningitis at the age of 18 months, Donna lost 60% of her hearing. Regardless, music has always been special in her life, remembering “composing” symphonies in her head as early as 5 years old. Being a child of the 60’s, the biggest influence in Donna’s life musically was the Beatles, couple with a strong exposure to the classics. Being unbearably shy and self-conscious due to her disability, Donna’s entire world exploded at the age of 13 when she started playing the guitar
and writing music. Determined to set an example for other people with disabilities, she put together several bands over the next 30 years, acquiring local success with Buffalos’ first all female country band, touring all over Western New York and Pennsylvania. Besides being the leader of the band, Donna played the guitar, banjo and wrote all the bands original music. Due to the success of her last band “Sweet Phantasy” Donna was featured in a half hour television special focusing on her ability to perform and write music, despite her hearing loss. Now with her performing days behind her, Donna is concentrating all her creative abilities on perfecting her craft of songwriting. Having written 100’s of songs over the years, she is writing new and re-writing some old, having them produced and recorded in Nashville for that pure country sound. Tapping in to the wisdom that comes with experience, her music now has taken on a new life, and richness of its own. “Now, I tell it like it is because I’ve been there, done that, and have a lot to say”. Her song "TRY" was released in July 2017 by recording artist Mia Kylie Ditta, opening up a slew of new and exciting projects and co-writes in the works.
