An experienced guitar player of 15 years. Especially good with beginners including both very young and older students. It's never too early or late to start playing! Will cater a specific personal lesson plan to your desires to make sure we move at YOUR best pace. We'll build a solid foundation so that you can learn how to teach yourself and continue to grow and love music long after these lessons. We can get you up and running with your favorite tunes or start delving into the musical theory side of things. I make sure that our lessons are fun but also challenging and I make sure we spend some time learning how to build finger strength, how to improvise, and (most importantly) how to play with other musicians!

Hey, I'm Bennett, and I have been teaching piano and guitar for nearly 3 years. My goal as a teacher is to make my students succeed in their goals. Everyone responds differently to music lessons, which is why I prepare individualized lessons for each and every student. There is plenty of repertoire to choose from. On top of the guitar, I can also teach music theory. I feel it is important for you as a musician to understand why everything sounds and works the way it does. I have found that understanding this allows you to be a better musician. I look forward to teaching you!

About Bennett

All throughout high school, I taught piano and guitar to mostly elementary-aged kids. I still continue to teach, but it remains mostly though an online setting. I never had a teacher when I was learning guitar, but I wish I had, so I could've avoided time-consuming mistakes that took years to fix.

If your a total beginner... I'm gonna suggest you check out my bass page. Bass is fun. I promise, I wouldn't play it if it wasn't.

Really, Like right now.

No?

Well if your still here, alright. Let's get crackin' on the 6 string. If you read my bio, you see I talk about the "waves" of music. We gotta learn how to surf the waves and stick with a band. The flashy solos will come in time, but just like real surfing, you gotta learn to ride the waves created by the bass and drums before you can start doing tricks on it. Once you have a grasp on meter (the pulse of the waves) we can start talking about some music theory and how the flashy solos can be built upon those waves.

Gonna mention the bass page again. They create the waves... its a lot easier to play in the waves when you know how to make them.

If you are so dedicated to rockin the 6-string that your reading this, then read no further. Message me and tell me what it is you want to play, and we will jump right in.

About Matt

Aside from being proficient at a craft, a good teacher needs the skill of communication. Being the best physicist in the world doesn't make you the best physics teacher. Knowing how to do something and knowing how to make other people understand it are two very different skills. Lets be honest,

"My 10 year old son has been taking lessons with Steve for almost 2 years. Prior to Steve, Nathan was enrolled in group lessons at the park district. After a unpleasant experience with the group lessons , we decided to try private lessons. Steve has done an amazing job working with Nathan. Like most kids, some days it is hard to keep his attention, but Steve does an amazing job. He has kept Nathan focused while still allowing him to have fun playing the guitar. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend Steve as a musical instructor."

"A great teacher who listens to the kids and seems to know that letting them play songs that they want to play will make them want to practice! He is teaching theory, technique and fun at the same time. Kelton was bored with so much theory and playing 'baby' songs that he didn't know. Cristopher's did his first recital with the song that my son wants to learn, too! I've already recommended him to neighbors and friends."
