Mel is fantastic! I have only been taking lessons with him for a short time, but I feel like I have really made a lot of improvement! He is extremely patient and really cares about music. You can truly tell he puts his all into his lessons and truly cares about his students. Music is his passion and his optimism and love for music is contagious.

I decided to learn the violin and had no experience or background at all. Mel helped me start off with the essentials and is making sure I know proper form! I am beyond grateful that I found him and recommend him to anyone looking to learn. I promise you won’t regret hiring him to help you along your musical journey. I am most definitely looking forward to all my future lessons! Thank you Mel!

I have been taking lessons with Mel for almost two months.
As an adult learner who tried to learn violin on my own for the last six months I have found Mel to be a lifesaver.
He has been very patient and has helped me to fix all the bad habits I developed. The lessons are a nice mix of theory, skill development and working on fun songs.
I highly recommend him.

My 17-year-old son looks forward to his lessons with Mel. My goal was to restore my son's love of the violin that he started to play many years ago. Lessons with Mel did just that. My son says that Mel's delightful and personable style makes it safe for kids to be kids who are learning and growing. I hear Mel play things during my son's lessons and as a musician, I can tell he is a violinist and a musician of the highest order. I was so impressed. He keeps the lessons focused but fun. My son is already improving and more importantly, he is in love with the violin again. My son and I highly recommend him. He's a gem.

"Vanessa arrived on time which made a good first impression. She began by asking about my goals. I was amazed at all I learned in my very first lesson. Vanessa's instructions were clear and easy to follow. She gave me my homework for next week's session which I am excited to learn. She was very encouraging and reassuring. She made me feel like I had made the right decision in choosing takelessons and Vanessa as my instructor."

"Cant say enough good things about Joel. He doesnt get frustrated when I don't grasp a concept he breaks it down to where I can understand and work through it. Works to play what I'm interested and what I really want to play. I thought going to learn an instrument at 27 would be rough but it has been fun and enjoyable."

"Elizabeth is a very patient teacher. I wanted to take a few lessons on Ukulele so I could get a practical proficiency before a recent trip to Hawaii with family and friends. She was very patient and understanding with my beginner level, but I could tell that she has the ability to teach those with more ability than I have as well. The way she described how I should approach the instrument from a technique perspective was very clear and efficient, and when she would demonstrate chords and exercises she always played so beautifully. I felt as though I genuinely improved at every lesson. Not to mention her flexibility in finding time scheduling our lesson, and all around friendly and positive attitude. I could not recommend Elizabeth more."

What is Fingerstyle Ukulele & How to Play it

Many of you may have seen this term “Fingerstyle Ukulele” and walked away curious. Isn’t all of ukulele music played with your fingers? And which hand does this term refer to, right or left?
