I purchased a package of violin lessons with Mary-Elizabeth for my wife a couple months ago for the holidays. She has continued her lessons on a fixed weekly schedule. Here is what she has to say: "Mary-Elizabeth has made learning the violin very easy and enjoyable. She is patient, fun to work with, encouraging, and has a great sense of humor. Even though I had violin lessons before, working with Mary-Elizabeth has made a big difference."

As a new student, there is nothing better than learning to make music. There isn't a better instrument to learn on because it is inexpensive, portable and honestly so much fun!

Believe it or not, you can make a great deal of progress with a little bit of time each day. Once I decided to pick it up as regularly as I could, even if it was literally only 5 minutes, it was clear I was on the right path.

I started when I was 50 having never played an instrument before which has helped me teach others understanding all of the challenges of learning to play.

Sharing the ukulele with my friends and family helped me realize how much I wanted to share it with others. What could be better than sharing the joy of making music?

I hope to see you soon!
Mark

Mark is awesome! Enthusiastic, experienced, attentive, and totally in tune to my developing skill. He sends tips and individualized sheet music between lessons throughout the week, which helps me feel supported while encouraging me to keep practicing. In 3 short sessions, I've already learned a handful of tricks that help me have fun and feel like I'm already playing real music. Thanks so much, Mark!

This instrument is fun...flat out. Great for all ages, and can be used as a great springboard to guitar and other stringed instruments. I'm able to incorporate decades of music experience and knowledge into teaching the instrument and hope to help the student get the most out of it.

About Joe

I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient

"Sign up for classes with John. Just do it, and you won't regret it.

Whatever the opposite of musically-gifted is, that is what I am. I'm an adult beginner in the truest sense of the word - never read sheet music, couldn't hold a beat to save my life, and hadn't played an instrument. EVER. That's why I'm still amazed that I've learned to play a couple of simple songs after a few lessons with John - it's a great achievement on his part!

John has the patience of a saint and a great ability to teach. If I don't understand a concept or have difficulty contorting my fingers to hold a certain chord, he shows me a different way and can break it down to simpler terms. He's really a great teacher. On top of that, he's laid back, approachable, amiable, and very understanding of my busy work schedule. He makes sure I leave each lesson with enough homework to practice and gives me constructive criticism to work on my technique. Like another reviewer said, John is really worth his weight in gold!!"

"Edwin quickly found where I needed the most help (strumming patterns), and within minutes was guiding me through progressions to help me make progress. He also gave me some lessons on notation and helped me write some progressions down so that I could practice between now and our next lesson. He listened to my goals and taught in a way that will help me meet them."
