Great learning experience with Eric.

I can't say enough good things about Earl's instruction. He's extremely knowledgeable and talented and yet responsive, inspiring, and kind. Rather than applying a narrow and rigid approach to teaching, lessons are built around my abilities and interests and he has taught me new ways of looking at music and playing guitar. I feel very fortunate to be one of his students.

My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

Greg is intimately connected with the guitar. There is no other type of teacher I can recommend than one who is so passionate about music, it's development, and it's exploration. I highly recommend this teacher.

First thing I do before first day of class is send out a welcoming greeting via email and call a few days before first lesson. We Briefly discuss and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class. Music lessons include: warm ups, exercises, technical and theory work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, repertoire musical coaching, composition writing, preparation for performances and more.

"this was my first guitar lesson with scott, and it's been many years since i've even tried picking up a guitar. i enjoyed the lesson. scott started with me at a place that was good and comfortable for me. i felt like a klutz and he had a good way as a teacher in working with me at that klutzy level, listening to me and going at a pace that felt good. i'm grateful, and i know i need to show it by practicing!"

"Dave is both a musician and professional educator, which made him a great guitar teacher for 2 of my daughters, between the ages of 6 and 12. He provided each of them with a binder organized by tabs to hold the songs, theory and notes he brought to each week's lesson. Dave asked the girls about their musical tastes so he could develop lesson plans that held their interest. He is reliable and arrived on time each week. I was so impressed with Dave as a guitar teacher that I recommended him to our local school's after school enrichment program, and I would recommend him for in-home lessons as well."

The session was 45 minutes long but it flew by and i was already looking forward to next week's lesson. Listening to him blend his guitar over mine as i played my assignment was awesome and inspiring. If you choose remi you will NOT regret it, he is a pro!"

"My Daughter LOVES her lessons with Sasha

I bought my daughter (age 6) a guitar for Christmas and figured I should at least invest in a few lessons unless I wanted the guitar to gather dust! I didn't realize just how much fun my daughter would have... Sasha is very patient, even with a 6 yr. old's very limited attention span. I listen in from the kitchen and I love how Sasha will gently incorporate music back into the conversation when my daughter starts to stray. She also takes the time to prepare for the lesson by creating music lesson plans from my daughter's favorite artists. We've only been taking lessons for about a month, but I was really pleased when my daughter pulled out her guitar to show her aunt the things she's learned thus far."

How to Play Guitar Chords in Different Positions up the Neck

Chords are the foundation of all of those guitar riffs you love so much. Here, guitar teacher Kirk R. walks you through the basics of guitar chords and the importance of knowing how they're constructed... Guitar is an amazing instrument, not only because of all that it can do, but also because of how great it can sound when not doing much at all. One of the ways that guitar is most often heard is by strumming the standard chords that beginner guitarists learn. However, I often inter …
