I tried to teach guitar in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play lead guitar, or how to finger pick. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

Guitar lessons with me are unique because although I am young, I am a very experienced teacher already. I started learning guitar at 10 years old. By the time I was 16 I was gigging and teaching kids in my neighborhood and any Craigslist clients I could find. At 18, I took a 1.5 year program at the Los Angeles College of Music, where I graduated with an AA in guitar performance. Since then I have worked as a professional musician, and also as a teacher /consultant with Adopt the Arts, a non profit started by Matt Sorum (drummer of Guns N Roses, Hollywood Vampires) and director Abby Berman. In my time at Adopt the Arts I have amassed over 4000 teaching hours of teaching kids ages 4-13, so I am very experienced with kids and get along with them great since. I have also been giving other private lessons to people of all ages since 2011. Qualities that make me stand out as a teacher are relatability, patience, and an ability to identify the proper pace for the student to enjoy the ...

I can play any number of styles from blues and country to hard rock and heavy metal I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I know music theory very well and I'm great with making the theory part fun to learn while teaching to play a style that the student prefers. I'm an easy going guy and really patient. I make the promise to every student that I will give them every bit of effort and support I can to propel them in their music career. I'm one of those people who gets along with everybody and I like to make my lessons fun for each student.
About Garrett
I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now and I've played in just about every type of band. After playing in a metal band for about 5 years I switched over to a classic rock group for a couple years. In both of those groups I was lead guitar/lead vocals. Now for the last few years I've been

She really enjoys lessons with Ahmad, for the following reasons (in her words):
"He's a good teacher because he's really patient."
"I like the one-on-one lessons because it's helping me learn faster."
"He always emails the materials after class."
During the lessons I've watched, Ahmad is indeed patient and professional, yet friendly, during the lesson. He is able to, in an encouraging manner, discuss with my daughter the things she needs to practice, and gives positive feedback about the areas where she is showing improvement.
I would recommend Ahmad if you're interested in learning the guitar!"

I've been playing guitar for about 20 years, but haven't taken any formal lessons in the past 15 of those. I felt like I was in a rut with my playing so I started taking lessons with Ahmad a few months ago. He was able to immediately help me improve my technique and help me correct some inefficiencies that I didn't even notice I was doing. The word "inefficiencies" in the last sentence was chosen very deliberately because Ahmad has a great way of showing that there are multiple ways to play the instrument and not one specific "right" and "wrong" way.
I feel like I've made more progress in the last 4 months than I had in years."

He obviously has great musical talent, and his explanations and demonstrations are very clear. He has been super flexible and adaptable schedule-wise.
Overall, a pleasant, enriching and rewarding experience. Highly recommended!"

Also, he has a lovely home and his wife is so nice :) I felt right at home.
I definitely recommend Dennis to anyone who is considering lessons."
