I can teach students theory, harmony, ear training, improvisation, how to play their favorite songs, how to create their own music, and how to read both tablature and sheet music.

About Chase

I started playing guitar when I was in the 8th grade. At that time I was into punk, and as I got older I moved into listening to classic rock, then blues, then all sorts of jazz and jam bands, and now classical and sacred art. And my playing of the guitar has following the same trajectory: I play

Chase and I worked together doing online lessons for guitar for a number of months. Chase is an incredible instructor. He helped me understand how to analyze and replicate my music tastes in a super effective way. His teachings on improvisation definitely brought out the best in my playing. I would highly recommend learning from Chase, whether you are a beginner or expert.

Chase and I did not work together long because of other commitments. However, in the short time we did work together I learned a lot. Chase is easy going, highly skilled, very patient, and his teaching style is such that it fosters student confidence. I was really nervous at first, because I wasn't sure what to expect. Chase quickly made me feel at ease during the lesson. We only had half hour lessons, but that was definitely enough time to learn new materiel and make progress. I highly recommend him for guitar lessons.

My son is 7 and really seems to like Chase. He came well prepared and finally someone has started to teach him some rock songs .

Mr. Tarantola has taught my three kids to play piano and to read music. Their confidence in their music abilities has grown over the years as they continue to learn. The skills they learned with Mr. Tarantola has helped them in school music, band and in learning new instruments such as drum set and clarinet. Mr. Tarantola has the ability and personality to teach all ages including new beginners such as I - who began lessons in my 40's. Highly recommend!

Andrew is great - really like his versatility in working with beginners or experts. He is able to accommodate and adjust based on what your goals are (i.e. he can start with basics of music to start at the very beginning or he can help you learn a song knowing the bare minimum. ) He's always on time and very flexible with schedules.

Guitar lessons, or any music lessons, are about sound and understanding it in a way that is comfortable and fun for the student so that they can apply it as they wish. I don't force students to learn how to read music, in fact, I let them choose the lesson and only guide them if the lessons are not getting slowly but surely harder and more challenging in more than one way. The principle goal is for the student to understand sound, how it can work by moving your hand or just one finger, the difference that can make to the sound, and again, how to apply that sound in a musical context. This applies to both chords, lines, harmony and melody, the works. I teach Jazz Guitar Primarily, but have been playing over 15 years (guitar) and 23 years (piano). I have a wealth of knowledge of theory which I do believe to be extremely valuable, but only after the student is able to comprehend the sounds they are playing, and, of course, if they have questions. I believe lessons are an exchange ...

"I’ve been taking lessons from Kevin for about 2 months. Before that I’d been kind of aimlessly playing around with guitar. I was playing by myself for about 20 years and basically had no timing and rhythm. I’m not a funk master yet but Kevin has given me tools that have greatly improved my timing and for the first time actually believing that I’m going to do this. Thanks"

Advantages & Disadvantages of a Fretless Guitar

Fretless instruments are not uncommon in the world of music, however, a fretless guitar is an instrument that isn't often mentioned. The fretless guitar lacks the frets that one would traditionally see on a guitar. This means that there is no interruption in the string from the bridge, up the neck of the guitar. The lack of frets create an entirely unique, warm, but less amplified sound that works across all types of music. In order to truly understand what a fretless guitar is, it is first …
